13. "Attack"

We headed outside the cave as soon as we defeated the hobgoblins, but many goblins were still inside the nest. However, the remaining goblins can be ignored now that we've conquered the hobgoblins. We'll just bury them all alive with the landslide.

The man's head is engulfed in a giant fireball.

It's bigger than the one from before, and this might be too much for him to handle.

But then, suddenly, a girl jumps out from behind him, as if out of nowhere.

"What the--?"

The girl who appeared behind the man was shrouded in mystery. She was quick to draw her short sword and attempted to decapitate the man.

The man panicked and jumped away, losing his grip on the fireball.

The fireball exploded, sending fire dust in all directions.

In the midst of the dust, the girl glanced at us.

She had short, peach-colored hair, and she was wearing thin clothes that showed her body's silhouette. In her left hand she held her short sword, and her crimson eyes shone with a cruel glint.

"Fana-chan!"
Crenna yelled in surprise and disbelief.

Fana. That was the name of the girl who bowed deeply to us.

"It's been a while, Crenna-sama. I'm sorry for being late."
She said, before looking back at the man.

"It seems you're guarding the Viliens ...Tch, I should've known this would be a waste of time."

The man looked at us and the girl who had suddenly appeared, and clicked his tongue in disapproval.

He turned around and leapt high into the air, spreading his black wings and flying away.

"What the hell was that just now?"

"If you could, I'd appreciate an explanation."

Doros and Pyxis looked half-bewildered as they asked.
Crenna and I exchanged glances.
We had realized it was no use trying to keep up the act. We decided to explain the situation.

"So you're saying that the Empire has some special weapon?"
After explaining the situation to them, including how we had learned Crena's true name, Doros muttered that in a mystified tone.
