Chapter 1: The World I Wished For

Ryker Ross is an average man in an average world. He has a good job, good friends, a nice house and a loving family. and all around a great life, right? RIGHT!? No he hates it all, the shity co workers, the fake smile he wears for his friends, the worried looks he gets whenever he sees his family.

 

He sighed and shook his head to get rid of those gloomy thoughts he knew he had something to look forward to. He started to walk to his car. He just got off work and after a long boring day he wanted nothing but to go home. He got in his car and did the first thing he always did. He took out his phone and opened an audio book.

 

This was what made his commute the best part of the work day. For as long as he remembers he's always craved more, Diving into fantasy games, manga, anime and books. He loves all of it, all the magical critters, monsters and unique races, the characters exploring magical lands.

 

But above all, his favorite was without a doubt Litrpg, diving into dungeons, fighting undead, finding treasure, and most of all leveling up, the idea of getting stronger from fighting, crafting or exploring was tantalizing and he wanted it more than anything, but he knew he would never get to experience anything like that because he lives in his average boring world.

 

So yeah he was depressed but it wasn't all bad his friends and family cheered him up somewhat. But what helped most of all was reading more fantasy and living vicariously through the characters. He stopped thinking about all that and just enjoyed his book.

 

And before he knew it he was home. He pulled in the driveway and quickly stopped his book. He got out of the car and walked inside his house. He took off his coat and plopped down on the couch, and he looked at the book with a dragon on its cover sitting on the coffee table. “Oh right it was just getting good.” and he picked up the book with a smile.

He had his nose deep in his book until he was rudely interrupted by another alarm “Shit.” He put the book down and grabbed his phone and looked down at it. It was 3am and he had already extended the alarm 3 times. He knew he had to go to work at 8. He looked longingly at his book but decided to get some sleep.

 

He got up of the couch and went to the bathroom and took a shower once he got out he looked at himself in the mirror. he was a handsome man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes he turned away from the mirror and and sighed, he always got complimented on his appearance, but he honestly couldn't care less, it was just good genetics and no effort on his part, all it did was just drawn unwanted attention to him.

 

He sighed again and got dressed in his pajamas and turned off the lights. He got in the bed and stared at the ceiling and said what said every night. “Well here’s to another day” Then he closed his eyes.

When he opened his eyes he was immensely confused. What he expedited to see was his white ceiling but what he saw was gray stone. He quickly sat up and looked around, what he saw confused him further, he saw that he was in a gray corridor made of the same gray stone as the ceiling, and every 10 feet or so there was a glowing blue stone stuck in the wall providing light.

 

He looked behind him and saw another stone wall but this one was different. It had what looked like a circle with strange symbols throughout “What The hell?” he heard his voice echo down the corridor. He stood up and shook his head to get rid of the drowsiness, then he looked at the circle again.

 

As he did so his eyes went wide. ‘Is this what I think it is’ he looked around at his surroundings again and he felt his heart rate increase “no way..” he whispered to himself, but his heart rate did not slow down. ‘There's one way to confirm it.’ He steadied himself and then he said the magic words

“Status”
