After scrolling through all of the skills in each rank I decided that the best way to choose my skills would be to select a skill from the most powerful category, S-Rank, and then select subsequent skills that would best complement it.

"As one would expect, all of the S-Rank skills are overpowered as fuck." I muttered.

Just possessing a S-Rank skill was enough to put someone among the strongest beings in the world.

[Blade of Death] Allows the user to summon and wield a death blade that absorbs souls.

This one seemed a little plain when I first read it, but the Blade of Death was outrageously powerful. You could absorb tens of thousands of living organisms at the same time.

Technically with this skill you could clear out an entire army just by standing still and pointing the Blade of Death!

[Holy Knight] Envelops the user in shining golden armor and aura that substantially increases strength, defense, and agility.

To be honest the word substantially was a bit vague, but I was willing to bet that even an infant could take down an adult elephant with their bare hands using this skill. It had great versatility.

[Slave Mark] Enables the user to control their opponent by placing a internal mark on the targets heart.

With this skill, you could create your own personal army which would be under your complete control. There was a catch, however.

When the mark is made, the target has the chance to resist its influence by using their mana.

Simply to explain, the user's mana needs to be greater than the target's.

[Monster Manipulation] Allows the user to manipulate/control any monster to use in battle or other commands.

So, this skill would allow you to become the king of the monsters and such.

Even though S-Rank skills are OP they still have their downsides...

I have to take my time and be careful when selecting my 5 skills.

The first thing I needed to confirm was that I would have enough physical and mental power.

If I had to guess this magical world wouldn't have the same morals that earth has.

I'm guessing slaves, and such are legal, so I'll have to be strong to not be looked down upon or killed.

Scrolling down the S-Rank list my eyes landed on a single skill that I had to pick!

[Rapid Recovery] Increases the recovery rate of stamina, mana, healing, etc. Recovery rate is increased by a factor of one hundred. This multiplier can be further increased with training,

At first glance, this ability didn't seem that impressive, but he who can run the farthest will always survive.

Being able to easily replenish your mana in a magic world was an amazing bonus.

Plus, it could be used to recover quickly from unknown illnesses or bad injuries.

I'd also be able to go weeks without sleep, as of right now when I was on earth I was able to stay up for about a week but now with this ability I could stay up for a couple weeks.

My stamina recovery rate would allow me to workout and train for an extended amount of time.

Considering I'm going to a magic world where strength, power, authority = survival this skill is a must have.

To be honest, if the goddess hadn't given me an explanation about the world I was going to, I doubt I would've chosen this skill.

Luckily for me she was nice enough to do so.

Once I pressed on the S-Rank skill [Rapid Recovery] I then closed out the S-Rank category and moved to the A-Rank category.

Scrolling for about 25 minutes I found another skill I would select.

"Why would I not choose this ability?" I said.

[Creation] Grants the ability to summon objects the user knows how to create.

I could deadass just summon a M4A1 and other weapons that I know how to create, this also includes medical supplies and food.

To be honest this should have been a S-Rank skill in my opinion.

After pressing on the A-Rank skill [Creation] I then moved over to the B-Rank category then after some time their I selected my B-Rank skill.

[Limitless Growth] Allows the user to break though mortal natural limitations.

Though this sounds great and all, it was pretty trash. Normally, removing growth limits would be meaningless.

Limits are often so high that most people don't reach them even if they spend there entire lives training for that one exact purpose.

However, it formed an excellent combination with my S-Rank skill [Rapid Recovery.]

For my C-Rank skill I didn't focus too much on versatility, reason being I am pretty confident in my hand to hand combat and reflexes, so I chose.

[Command] The user's words are empowered by this passive skill. It can instantly turn weak-minded individuals into puppets. Additionally, it allows the user to give out orders.

What, can you blame me for wanting this skill?

Being able to control someone who has a weak mental state is on another level.

Then again...

Why the hell is this a C-Rank skill!?

"I really should talk some sense into the goddess..." I muttered with a sigh.

Now finally, my last skill which will be a D-Rank skill is!

[Luck] This passive skill increases the user's luck.

"Having some luck wouldn't hurt..." I said.

Picking my last skill, the hologram disappeared.

"congratulations you picked all of your skills!" The goddess appeared out of nowhere.

"Yep, so will you be sending me to this magical world called NYX now?" I asked, fully prepared for anything.

"Wait a minute... did you not pick your elemental affinity?" The goddess looked at me with confusion plastered all over her perfect face.

What is she talking about?

She never once said anything about that?

"I'm sorry, but I think you never told me..." I told her.

Turns out I was right because once the goddess heard my words she came to the realization and immediately went bright red in embarrassment.

"M-My apo-apologies!" She stuttered like crazy as she bowed her head.

"No big deal." I assured her with a small smile. "How about you tell me about this elemental affinity?"

The goddess stopped looking toward the white ground and looked up at me and nodded her head.

"Listen, in a world of swords and magic, people were born with one elemental affinity; on rare occasions, a person could be born with two."

"There are four basic elemental affinities: earth, water, fire, and water. These were joined by two rarer elemental affinities: light and dark."

"Spells were awarded by the gods after repeated use of all of the races using an elemental affinity!"

"Do you get it?" She asked, looking at me.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I got the gist of things." I told her.

"Great! Then start picking, soldier!" She said while giggling.

"I'll pick [Total Affinity] please." I said after I got done looking over all of them.

I had to be an idiot to not pick [Total Affinity.]

It literally allowed you to use all four of the basic elemental affinities, neither of the rarest ones.

Who cares though about light and dark when you could use the four others.

Though there was a drawback...

The trade off was, to be able to use so many kinds of magic, was that the improvement rate for each of them would become halved.

'If my improvement rate is cut in half, then I'll just train twice as hard, an easy solution.' I thought to myself.

This shouldn't be a big deal.

After all, my recovery rate has increased by a hundred fold.

Also I'm used to harsh training anyways.

Overall the merit of being able to use four elements outweighed the demerit of a slower growth rate.

After selecting, I looked toward the goddess who was looking at me with interest.

"Can I help you?" I asked with a charming smile.

My words seemed to shock her as she began to wave her hands everywhere.

"I'm sorry for staring, I was just interested in why you didn't pick all S-Rank skills?" She asked with an innocent voice.

"Oh, that's because I don't want to destroy my surroundings with a flick of a finger..." I answered with a small laugh. "I also think that what I have now complements my S-Rank skill to make it more powerful."

"I see..." She nodded her head in understanding. "Well we're almost out of time until my divinity runs out of power to where I can talk with you."

"So this is where you reincarnate me?" I asked.

The goddess nodded. "That is correct, Derek Bullet I wish you the best of luck in the magical world NYX!"
