“Is it possible to make an item that raises intellect?”
My smelting record was limited to the most basic of basics, which was water stones.
I have created equipment by bestowing magic to already existing tools, using grant magic, but I’ve never made any equipment from scratch using an alchemy pot.
The effect of equipment made through smelting is overwhelmingly higher than that made by grant magic.
“Honestly, equipment isn’t something you can mass-produce so I thought it would be fine postponing it, but if it supports your studies then I suppose we could do it.”
“We can’t mass-produce it?”
“I’m not sure either, but even if you equip multiple copies of the same equipment, you’re still only granted the effect of one. At least, that’s how it was written in a book.”
“…But we can make it.”
“? Yeah, that’s what I said.”
After asking her question, Milia started pondering upon something, and became completely still.
“Yes, yes. Putting equipment and all behind, please help me out with breakfast everyone.”
“Okay~.”
The conversation was left open-ended with Aria’s remark, and everyone other than me went to help with breakfast.
***
“So, how do we make it? The equipment, that is.”
“It’s not all that different from making other things. We just need some ornaments and intellect-increasing items as raw materials.”
“Using ornaments as raw materials, means we don’t have to fuss over its shape, right?”
“Ah, yeah, you’re right…”
After finishing breakfast, I get bombarded with Milia’s questions.
I had never seen her act this aggressive before, so I was taken aback by her.
“What’s wrong, Milia? You’re acting unlike you.”
This time, Milia turns towards Aria with sparkling eyes.
“When I was in the royal capital, alchemist-made bracelets and necklaces with mysterious powers were sold at a fairly high price. Selling them as a specialty of this village should lead to stable profits.”
“B-but, alchemist-made products aren’t this village’s specialty, right?”
“That’s my point. Rather than something made through alchemy, why not sell necklaces with mysterious powers, made from the materials found near our village in the Demon Forest, as our signature product? In case the design is left to us, there are plenty of natural products made from knitting vines together. In that case…”

Milia spoke enthusiastically to Aria.
It was unusual to see the always prim and proper Milia act so intensely.
“Say, Kili. Was Milia always like this?”
“Lain hasn’t been here very long, after all. Her eyes always shone even when we were selling our crops. She’s hopelessly in love with the commercial side of things. She also likes clothing and ornaments, so putting them together like in this case, must have made her quite excited.”
“Hmm-.”
I saw an unexpected side of her.
“Come. Let’s make a prototype in that case. Reno is the most deft here, so I’d like you to help with ornamental work. Let’s start from bracelets.”
“M-me?”
“I guess picking good quality vines from the forest comes first. Okay, let’s go!”
We head out to the Demon Forest while practically being forced by Milia.

“Something like this won’t do.”
It’s been three days since Milia put all her efforts into making ornaments.
We haven’t put anything into production, as Milia hasn’t seen a bracelet yet made to her liking.
“Milia, how about making one as a trial already?”
“No. A good foundation is always the most crucial. If we compromise here, There is no doubt we will continue making unsatisfactory products in the future as well.”
“Ah, I see.”
I could only nod, seeing Milia’s overwhelming attitude.
The statue of Milia inside me was making noises and slowly collapsing.
Well, looking at it positively, I guess she trusts me that much to show this side of hers, but still the difference was too stark.
“That’s right, if we use that flower… Lain, can we go exploring once more? It’s only to the shallow areas.”
“Nah, tomorrow would be better.”
“What are you talking about? What if the flowers wilt by tomorrow! Come, let’s go!”
“…Fine. I’m going with you though. In the meanwhile, Aria and the others can get started on dinner.”
“Sorry, Lain. Come back soon.”
I followed Milia with a deep sigh.
