—the 5th of Solis.
The fake Saintess stood before the gates to the Grand Palais de la Aetherium just as the sun rose above the horizon. Her gold-trimmed veil partially obscured her face from view, only revealing her long black eyelashes and soft, pinkish lips; the soldiers who were ordered to let her in were enraptured by her mysterious beauty.
“...I heard she’s the miracle doctor who treated Her Highness successfully last night…”
“...didn’t the royal physician, Albert, resign from his position yesterday? Could it be that she was the reason why…”
“...what’s her name again? Ras…putin? Rasputina? Who even is she…”
The Saintess walked along the sun-drenched path to the entrance of the palace at a demure pace, oblivious to the rumours of her sudden appearance spreading among the soldiers.
“My apologies, I arrived late today,” she said shyly to the waiting butler by the front doors. “Have His Majesty been waiting for long?”
“Not a bit, Your Grace,” the butler replied with a courteous bow. “You’re just in time. Please, allow me to bring you to see His Majesty this instant.”
The butler led her to Princess Anastasia’s chambers, where King Cetheri was sitting on a chair beside the sleeping princess with a weary expression. However, all traces of the old man’s fatigue vanished when the butler announced her arrival.
“Holy Saintess, I’ve been waiting for you.” He stood up and greeted her politely with a small nod of his head. “Have you eaten? I can order the kitchen to prepare breakfast for you and Anastasia both.”
“Thank you for your kindness, Your Majesty, but I have had my breakfast before coming here.” Saintess Rasputina shifted her gaze to the princess, who was wearing a slight frown on her face while she slept. “Has Her Highness’ condition improved overnight?”
“I’m afraid not…we tried to talk to her, but it seems like she doesn’t understand us in the slightest. She was also too scared to even fall asleep, and kept muttering nonsensical stuff the whole night until she passed out from exhaustion.” King Cetheri licked his dry lips and sighed softly. “Please, Holy Saintess, wake my daughter to her senses soon. It…It hurts me and the Queen deeply to see our daughter in such anguish and fear every time we see her…”
“Rest assured, Your Majesty. I will commence my follow-up treatment once she rouses from her slumber.” Rasputina paused and said in a low voice, “can you please instruct everyone, including the Queen, not to enter the princess’ chambers under any circumstances until I come out? This is extremely crucial for the treatment to be successful, I hope you understand, Your Majesty.”
“O-of course, I will make the necessary arrangements. I will also order the maids to only put the meals outside the door and knock without entering the room.” King Cetheri gave a light cough and continued, “in addition, after discussing with the Queen and the palace staff, I have arranged for you to stay in Anastasia’s chambers so that you can attend to our daughter at any time.”
Rasputina blinked slowly, uncertain if she just heard the King correctly. “...sorry, Your Majesty, can you please repeat what you just said?”
“From today onwards, you can sleep by Anastasia’s side in her chambers while you treat her,” he said resolutely. “We have prepared a spare bed for you, as you can see here…”
“So, that’s the reason why there’s suddenly an extra bed in the room…wait, no, that’s not the point, Your Majesty!” she exclaimed. “Y-y-you want me to share the same room w-with Her Highness…?”
“Is that not up to your liking?” King Cetheri asked. “If not, I won’t force you, we can prepare a separate—”
Rasputina hastily waved her hands in front of her. “N-no, I was just wondering if it’s really okay for me to intrude upon Her Highness, that’s all.”
A knock on the door briefly interrupted them. “Your Majesty, Her Highness’ breakfast is ready.”
Glancing at the door, King Cetheri turned to Rasputina and said with a sad smile, “then, I shall leave my daughter in your able hands, Holy Saintess. On behalf of the Queen and myself, I thank you for your gracious help in advance.”
She forced herself to give a reassuring smile in return. “O-of course, I will do my part and cure Her Highness to the best of my humble abilities as well, Your Majesty.”
—two hours ago.
“Oi, wake up.”
Theoʼs irritated voice resounded in his ear loud and clear, snapping him out of his slumber rudely.
“Bratukha, if you donʼt get out of my bed right now…”
Snickering silently, he waited for Theo to finish his half-hearted threat.
“...Iʼll stuff this lizard I found up your new body part and make sure it lays its filthy eggs inside.”
“AYO—” He shot out of the bed like a bullet and jumped to the opposite side of the room in one single leap. “—what the FLYING FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!”
Grateful that he finally reclaimed his bed, Theo grabbed the brown-coloured lizard on the wall by its tail and flung it out of the window. “Put on your clothes, we are moving out in fifteen.”
“Poor lizard, may you have a better next life...for Lordʼs sake, itʼs still pitch-dark outside! Whatʼs the hurry?” Muttering under his breath, he entered the toilet and caught a glance of Rasputinaʼs striking reflection in the mirror; in an instant, everything that transpired the night before came rushing back to the fake Saintess.
“Oh fuck me, so it isnʼt just a nightmare after all.”
“No thanks, I donʼt want to fuck you,” was Theoʼs disgusted reply from the other side of the toilet door.
He—no, she—paused to think for a moment. “Theo, Iʼm starting to think that you may be a sodomite, you know.”
A brief silence. “Continue running your mouth and your next blink will be inside the operating theatre for an anal rupture.”
“No, but you see,” Rasputina continued regardless as she washed her face with the freezing water. “You not only bathed with a beautiful Saintess, you also slept in the same room as her and she even crawled into your bed fully naked. How are you not aroused in the slightest?”

“...”
“I even checked that part of yours, and itʼs completely limb! Are you certain you aren't queer?”
Theo kicked the door from the outside in retaliation. “Holy—for the love of the Lord, I swear youʼre the more fucked up one in this room right now.”
She snorted. “Heh.”
“Oh, so you arenʼt denying it, you bastard?!”
“Shut up, I need to concentrate on fixing my hair.”
“To hell with your stupid hair! If you arenʼt coming out by the time I finished preparing the cart, Iʼm leaving without YOU.”
“Thatʼs unfair, you asshole! Donʼt you know us girls take the whole morning to—”
The slamming of the front door silenced her rant.
“Fuck you, youʼre actually leaving?!”
A muffled yell came from down the hallway. “Donʼt you dare fuck me!”
Remembering how much trouble she had gone through to get to this very point, Rasputina couldnʼt help but shake her head while she waited for the sound of footsteps to fade away into silence; she made sure to lock the door before turning around to face the interior of the chamber.
“Now what…” She stared at the intricately-designed polished silver tray in her hands, on which a porcelain plate containing two slices of honey buttered toast and silver cutlery rested. The freshly-made breakfast gave off a heavenly aroma, and she was barely able to resist the urge to pick one up and bite into the soft, fluffy inside.
“Princess~” Rasputina approached the bed and tapped on Anastasia’s shoulder with one hand while balancing the tray with the other. “Wakey, wakey, it’s time for breakfast.”
A cute-sounding murmur escaped from her rosy lips. “...yamete kudasai…”O_o
She grabbed Anastasia’s cheek and pinched it lightly. “Princess, don’t make me resort to violence first thing in the morning~”
With a half-muffled yawn, the princess lifted herself up to an upright position and reluctantly opened her eyes. Her rose-coloured hair unfurled and fell on her shoulders, which was left bare on one side due to her loose silk nightgown slipping off her right shoulder.
“Ohayou…” she murmured, still half-asleep.
“...ohayou?” Rasputina muttered, confused.
Upon hearing her voice, Anastasia finally snapped awake and gasped in surprise. “Jfdddgjekfgdsog!”
The sudden outburst caused Rasputina to nearly drop the tray she was carrying. “Calm down, calm down, I’m not here to hurt you. You understand me?”
“E-e-eto…” Anastasia had the word ‘confusion’ spelt all over her face, but she ceased panicking and sat back on her knees. “Hai?”
“Eat up first, then we have to talk.” Rasputina placed the tray on her lap and motioned for her to take the fork and knife. “...you know how to eat, right?”
Fortunately, the princess got the gist and began to quietly munch on the toast. “Mm-hmm, oishi!”
Meanwhile, Rasputina searched the drawers for paper, quill and ink. Holding down a fresh sheet of cream paper with a paperweight, she quickly scratched out a few words and showed the paper to Anastasia.
“Can you read this?” she asked, pointing at the words.
“...humpf?” she said with a piece of toast still in her mouth.
“Guess not, huh.” Rasputina sat on the bed next to her dejectedly. “Hmm? There’s an object underneath me…”
Feeling about under the sheets, she felt a sharp pointy stick poking at her bottom and pulled it out. “Oh, it’s just the silver hairpin…I thought it was a toy or something else.”
Anastasia saw the hairpin she was holding in her hand and remarked, “oh, you found the hairpin? I thought I lost it yesterday…”
“Huh?”
“Eh?”
Both girls pointed at each other at the same time. “Y-y-you can speak my language?!”
