After seeing the man that killed him last night, Vlad thought a lot about his next course of action.
First, he decided that he needed to be more cautious about his movements. He could not risk having his identity as Vlad Radetic discovered.
Even though his appearance had changed after turning into a vampire, people familiar with him could still recognize him. Most of these people died when his family was destroyed, but perhaps some of his enemies could recognize him if he was unlucky.
The best solution was to keep a low profile, at the very least, for a few months. After a few months, the memories of most people about him would have faded away, so he did not need to worry that much about being recognized.
But if he wanted to keep a low profile, it was not a good idea to collect information himself.
That was when the idea of using Adora came to his mind.
She was completely unrelated to his identity as Vlad Radetic, and as a thief, she probably knew a few places where she could get information. He only needed to be careful about how much he revealed to her, and she would be the perfect collaborator.
“Then, what do you think about my proposal?”
“… What kind of information do you want? Is it dangerous?”
“It’s not. As for the details of the request... I need to know first if you are willing to take it.”
“What about the pay?”
“Depends on how useful the information you bring is. Don’t worry, though, money is not a problem for me. You will be satisfied.”
“… Are you not afraid I will tell the gangs about you? What if I reveal to them that I’m close to a fat sheep noble loaded with money and we can rob him easily?”
“I know you won’t.” Vlad squinted with a smile. “Unless you want to die.”
Vlad’s red eyes glowed savagely as an immense killing intent filled with hatred and malice surged out of him.
[Vampire Instinct] was activated!
The killing intent coming from him was so intense that Adora turned pale instantly. She instinctively jumped away, taking a defensive stance as she looked at Vlad warily.
Vlad chuckled and put away the killing intent.
“Miss Adora, you saved my life, and from my short observation of you, I have the feeling that you are trustworthy. However, I’m not so naïve to trust a thief so easily. Believe me, you don’t want to make me your enemy.”
“… I'm a thief, but I’m also a woman of my word.”

Vlad smiled softly and nodded. “I understand.”…
After leaving the living room, Adora shivered and supported herself with the wall.
Her entire body was trembling, and her forehead was filled with cold sweat. Although she kept a brave front in front of Vlad, she barely could keep standing.
“… What kind of monster is he?”
When she first met him, she thought he was just a weak noble. After all, she did not feel much mana from him.
But now, she realized that he was anything but weak.
Just the fact that he managed to see through her cultivation so easily meant that he was most likely stronger than her. Moreover, that killing intent…
How many people must someone kill to accumulate so much killing intent?
For an instant, Adora regretted agreeing to his proposal.
But now it was too late. Plus, this was a good opportunity for her.
She could see that Vlad was rich, and she needed a lot of money.
Working for a noble like him was an easy way to get it.
‘Yes, I just need to be careful. If I notice that something is wrong, I will run away with my sister.’
Adora did not know that Vlad was not as strong as she thought. In fact, in a direct fight, she could win against him easily.
However, the fact that he could see through her strength plus the killing intent he accumulated by killing many monsters in his previous life and after going on a killing spree last night ended up intimidating her so much that she overestimated his strength.
…
Breakfast was peaceful. Laura seemed happy that her sister stopped being hostile to Vlad, and during the breakfast, she asked a lot of questions to Vlad such as his age and where he lived.
Vlad responded perfunctorily without revealing too much about him but making sure to entertain Laura. Thanks to that, the mood at the table was good.
The breakfast was nothing fancy; just milk egg soup and sliced bread, but Vlad knew that Laura had made her best to make a delicious breakfast. The sisters probably did not eat this ‘sumptuously’ usually.
But despite Laura's best efforts, this breakfast was far inferior to the food of nobles. Any noble would find it unpalatable
Perhaps that was the reason why Adora seemed surprised when Vlad praised the food as delicious.
Well, Vlad had eaten much worse foods during his days as a demon hunter, so it was true that he found the food nice.
When Laura heard his praise, she was over the clouds. She smiled foolishly and blushed while lowering her head, making her sister look at her with a worried gaze.
However, Vlad was not in the mood to pay attention to that.
Right now, he was looking at the message that appeared in his mind after his conversation with Adora.
