The capital at night was a paradise for the crime.
Every night, dozens of people were robbed, raped, or killed. Fights between gangs were a common occurrence, and arson was not unheard of.
The city guards tried their best to control the situation as much as possible, but the darkness of the night was perfect for the outlaws to act unscrupulously. Even ten times the guards were not enough to stop crime.
And tonight was the same.
In a desolate alley, five thugs were pressing a woman against the ground with disgusting smiles on their faces.
“S-Stop! P-Please! L-Let me go!”
“Hahahaha, what a cutie. Hold her tightly. Don’t let her escape.”
“I know, I know. Hurry up. I already want to have my turn.”
“Hey, three of us can use her at the same time. The other two can hold her.”
“Hahahaha, that is a good idea.”
“As expected of the brain of our group.”
The disgusting smiles on the men’s faces became wider. They tore off the clothes of the woman and opened her legs mercilessly as several of the thugs pulled down their pants.
The woman’s eyes were filled with despair. She cried, screamed, and struggled, but she was just an ordinary woman. Facing five men, she was powerless.
Tears streamed down her face as she resigned herself to her fate. She knew that most likely, she would be humiliated and killed tonight.
When that thought appeared in her mind, she closed her eyes in fear and terror.
“Oh? It looks like she stopped resisting. Hehe, it looks like she also wants to have fun.”
“What a slut, but I like it.”
The men laughed wretchedly as one of them grabbed the woman’s face. He then sniffed her neck creepily, making the woman shiver in fear and disgust.
“She smells nice.”
“Damn. It has been a while since the last time I had such a beautiful woman.”
One of the men held the woman’s legs and got ready to rape her.
But all of sudden, the sound of footsteps reached his ears.
Startled, he turned around, only to see a shadow approaching them slowly.
“Hey, someone is coming.” He gestured with his head to one of his companions.
“Heh, someone is looking for death.” Sneering, one of the thugs released the woman and walked toward the shadow. “Friend, you should leave, we are busy here.”
But the shadow did not reply and just continued advancing.
The man’s face turned ugly.
Scowling, he grabbed a knife from his pants. At the same time, one of his companions grabbed a dagger and stood behind him.
“Friend, I’m talking to you.”
The thug growled in an intimidating tone.
At that moment, the shadow looked at him.
And a pair of sharp blood-red eyes glinted in the darkness.
“Five preys. It should be enough.”
Next, an evil smile appeared on the shadow’s face.
And the five thugs shuddered in terror.
“Careful!” One of them shouted.
But it was already too late.
In an instant, the shadow disappeared, only to appear in front of the thug closest to it.

Before the thug could react, the sound of flesh being cut filled the air.
Then, the upper half of his body fell to the ground, followed by his still-warm blood.
“Oh, god!”
The thug behind him became pale. He instinctively turned around to run away.
A foolish decision.
*Swish!*
Before he could take two steps, the shadow bypassed him.
Then, the thug’s head slid down his neck as his eyes opened wide in terror.
“K-Kyaaaaa!!!”
The woman on the ground screamed in terror. The blood splashing in the surroundings and the blood-red eyes glowing in the darkness made her feel as though she was about to die.
But the thugs' reactions were much worse than hers.
Their bodies were trembling, their faces were pale, and their pupils were dilated.
They were trying to grab their weapons, but their trembling bodies did not obey them.
“Useless.” The shadow’s chuckle amplified their fear. One of them even peed on his pants.
The shadow immediately put on an expression of disgust.
With a wave of his hand, his sword slashed through the air, cutting the thug’s head while trying to ignore the smell of urine reaching his nose.
He then looked at the last two thugs.
The thugs were frozen in fear, unable to move even one step as they looked at him in terror.
“M-Monster…” One of them murmured.
The shadow, Vlad, grinned.
The next second, his sword pierced the man’s chest, killing him instantly.
Finally, his gaze moved to the last thug. He was the youngest member of the group and the only one that had not moved or attacked since Vlad appeared.
He had been so influenced by Vlad’s new skill, [Intimidation], that his body and mind were paralyzed.
Looking at him, Vlad lost interest.
Waving his hand casually, Vlad decapitated him.
At that moment, Vlad heard the sound of someone crawling on the ground.
Curious, he looked down only to see the woman using her hands to drag her paralyzed body away from Vlad.
When she felt Vlad’s gaze, her tear-stained face contorted in terror.
“P-Please… D-Don’t kill me, please…”
Vlad’s indifferent gaze fell on her for several seconds before sighing.
He then turned around and walked away, his figure merging into the darkness.
The woman sobbed softly as she sighed in relief, then, she felt her vision becoming blurry and fell unconscious.
She had been so scared that her mind shut off when she realized that she was out of danger.
Meanwhile, Vlad was walking in the darkness with a satisfied smile on his face.
At this moment, a notification appeared in his mind.
