A few hours later, Vlad was holding a pendant in his hand with a complicated expression.

It was the pendant that his father gave him the night the Redatic Family was destroyed. A sword-shaped pendant with a beautiful red jewel incrusted in the hilt.

Vlad stared at the pendant patiently for almost one hour, trying to find anything special about it, but no matter how long he stared at it, it just looked like a slightly expensive pendant.

However, Vlad knew that this pendant was not so simple, otherwise, his father would have not asked him to protect it.

Plus, he remembered that the father of his fiancée was searching for it when he killed him.

“There must be a secret that I don’t know about this, but what is it?”

Vlad searched in his memory to see if he could find any clue. Eventually, a memory of several years ago appeared in his mind.

He was still a child back then, and he remembered that he was playing in his grandfather’s office.

His grandfather was the patriarch of the family, but he was also a kind old man. He loved to spoil his grandchildren, so Vlad liked to play with him.

But that day, he remembered seeing the pendant on his grandfather’s neck.

He remembered that his grandfather told him that the pendant was very important and that it was the key to the future of the family.

After remembering that memory, Vlad frowned.

“As expected, this pendant is not simple. It looks like I must investigate it.”

Unfortunately, Vlad did not know where he could learn the purpose of the pendant.

His only clue was the people that destroyed his family. They were searching for it, so they must know its purpose.

“... I will worry about it later. Now, I should focus on becoming stronger.”

Right now, Vlad had two clear ways to become stronger. The first was to increase his level. It was simple and quick. He only needed to kill people and its strength would grow.

The second way was getting more skills. Vlad had already tasted the usefulness of skills, so he was hungry for more.

Besides these two methods, Vlad also thought of a pair of other ways to increase his strength. One of them was to use the mana training method of the Radetic Family that he used before dying, but he was not sure if he could use it now, and even if he could, leveling up should be a faster way to grow stronger.

He was planning to try regardless. Anything that could make him stronger was welcome.

“I should try to see if I can learn more skills first,” Vlad said after looking at the afternoon sky. He planned to find out the conditions to get a new skill.

First, Vlad tried his swordsmanship.

He remembered the Radetic Family's swordsmanship and practiced every one of the sword moves one after another, putting every ounce of his focus into the movements.

But after half an hour, Vlad frowned.

Nothing.

“Could it be that I’m doing something wrong?”

Furrowing his brows, Vlad tried to use martial arts this time.

He had learned several kinds of martial arts in his previous life as a demon hunter, and he remembered some of them vaguely, so Vlad tried practicing them.

He started with judo and continued with karate, muay thai, taekwondo, and boxing. But even after one hour, Vlad did not get any results.

He did not receive any notification about learning a new skill.

“I don’t understand. What is the reason?”

Frustrated, Vlad tried anything he thought of. From cooking to doing pushups and simply running. But unfortunately, the notification indicating the acquisition of a new skill continued without appearing.

By this point, Vlad finally realized that learning a new skill was not simple at all.

He was now surprised by the fact that he acquired two skills in less than one day after waking up. He was lucky.

Even so, Vlad did not give up.

Finally, several hours later, a notification appeared in his mind.

[You have acquired a new skill.]

[Leap]

[Creates shockwaves of mana below the feet that boost the movements of the user.]

Vlad’s eyes lit up.

A new skill had appeared!

This skill came from a technique he used in his previous life to move faster. He suddenly remembered about it and decided to give it a try.

He only remembered the details of this movement technique vaguely, so he failed a couple of times before succeeding, but as soon as he succeeded, the system recognized it as a new skill.

Vlad immediately felt his mind becoming clear, and he learned how to use this skill more smoothly and better.

No hesitating, he tried using it again.

This time, using the skill was so smooth that he felt as though he had used it for years. He even knew of several ways to use the skill that he had never thought of before.

“... Amazing.”

Vlad was amazed by the system’s power. Without the system’s help, he would have needed weeks or even months to reach this level.

“Mm... I think I have an idea about the method to acquire new skills now.”

If he was not mistaken, simple actions were not enough to acquire new skills. Instead, an intricate use of mana was necessary.

To prove his theory, Vlad tried to use another similar technique.

He searched in his memory for another technique similar to [Leap], but the memories of his previous life were pretty vague. He remembered some simple spells, but for some reason, the spells were not registered as new skills.

There were some other techniques such as [Body Strengthening], but his current mana was not enough to activate them, so Vlad did not manage to use them.

It was the same for some of the sword techniques he learned in this life. He could not use them now that his mana was equivalent to someone in the first realm, the Initiation Realm.

In the end, Vlad only managed to learn that one skill after several hours of hard work.

Smiling wryly, he decided to be satisfied with the result he got.

“At the very least, I got a new skill.”

By this point, the sky had darkened. The sun had disappeared, giving place to the moon and the stars.

Vlad’s eyes glinted coldly. Now that the night had arrived, it was time to start the next phase of his plan.

It was time to level up.

“I heard that the capital's night is filled with criminals.” Vlad licked his lips with a wicked smile. “I hope I can get a good harvest.”

His blood-red eyes glowed eerily in the night.
