That night, Vlad appeared in the streets of the slums.

Wearing a black cloak, he concealed himself in the darkness as he followed the trail of his target.

‘Let’s see… It’s this way…’

Vlad’s focused on his senses as he followed the scent of the two-meter-tall man that he saw at the sisters’ house this morning.

After becoming a Vampire, Vlad’s senses became much sharper than normal humans. The improvement was especially higher in his senses of sight, hearing, and smell.

He could easily see in the dark and at longer distances, his ears caught the smallest sounds and amplified them, and his nose was as sensitive as a hound’s.

This morning, he had caught the scent of the two-meter-tall man, and now, he was relying on his sense of smell to find him.

Something like that would have been virtually impossible if he had to search the entire city, but Vlad knew that the two-meter-tall man was around the slums most of the time, so it reduced the searching area a lot, making finding him much easier.

After several minutes, Vlad’s nose twitched slightly.

“Found you.”

Vlad’s eyes flashed and his gaze fell on a tavern.

The smell of the man was coming from there.

Narrowing his eyes, Vlad decided to enter the tavern.

The place was filled with drunk men making a ruckus and scantily dressed women moving around the tables. The smell of cheap beer, strong perfume, and sweat was so strong that Vlad felt the urge to vomit.

He suppressed his sense of smell to handle the strong odor as he searched for the two-meter-tall man.

However, he did not find the man even after several minutes.

Frowning, Vlad forced himself to focus on his sense of smell again as he used it to search for the man.

A few seconds later, he looked down.

“So there is another floor below, huh.”

Vlad furrowed his brows. It made things a bit difficult.

However, he quickly calmed down. He did not need to be in a hurry.

Anyway, he could not kill the man in this place with so many witnesses. He could wait until the man leaves and follow him to kill him when he is alone.

Vlad was about to leave the tavern and wait outside when his nose caught a familiar scent.

Curious, Vlad looked towards the entrance and saw a blonde girl with green eyes and an ice-cold expression enter the tavern.

The woman’s arrival seemed to silence the noise of the tavern. The men instinctively looked toward her before moving their gazes away with fearful expressions.

However, the girl did not pay attention to them and just walked to a door behind the counter and entered it.

‘… Why is Adora here?’ Vlad put on a pensive expression.

He hesitated about whether to follow her or not, before deciding not to. Instead, he stayed in the tavern and sharpened his ears.

Soon, his ears caught the sound of Adora’s footsteps.

Next–

“You are here, Adora.” Vlad heard the voice of the two-meter-tall man he came for. “The boss is waiting for you.”

Vlad’s lips curved up.

It seemed that he had stumbled into an interesting situation.

“You are here, Adora.” The two-meter-tall man, Kevin, stared at the blonde girl with a calm expression. “The boss is waiting for you.”

Adora nodded and followed him to an office. However, she kept her guard up the entire time. She was ready to fight her way out at the slightest sign of danger.

When she entered the office, she saw a handsome middle-aged man seated behind a desk.

He was known as Crow, the boss of the South Crow Gang, the gang in control of this part of the slums.

Despite his amiable appearance, he was a ruthless man that had killed and ordered the death of dozens of people. He had surpassed the bottleneck of the third realm to become a Core Formation practitioner, so he was not someone that normal people could defy.

In terms of combat strength, he was definitively stronger than Adora.

Two men were standing behind him. Both of them were at the Core Accumulation Realm, just like Adora. Adora’s mana became more active when she saw them, but she was not worried. With her abilities, she was confident she could escape if things turned south.

“You came sooner than we expected,” Crow spoke calmly.

Adora snorted. “Tell me, is it true?”

“Straight to the point, I see.” Crow chuckled and grabbed a bottle of wine from the desk, filling two cups with it. He took a cup and passed the other to Adora.

However, the blonde girl did not receive it and just stared at him.

“Sigh, youngsters these days are very impatient. Yes, it’s true. I have a seven-star Life-Replenishing pill in my hands.”

Adora’s pupils constricted. She clenched her fist strongly and her mana fluctuate for a brief instant.

After taking a deep breath, she regained her calm.

“What do you want?”

“You know already, right? Swear your fealty to me.” Crow smiled and took a parchment from the desk. “This a magical contract made by a sixth-realm practitioner. If you sign it, I will give you the seven-stars Life-Replenishing Pill.”

Adora fell silent. After several seconds, she grabbed the parchment and started to read it.

To her surprise, the clauses in the contract were not as strong as she expected. It only required her to never betray or attack Crow, however, it did not compromise her freedom.

In fact, according to the contract, she only needed to be loyal to him for ten years. After that, she would be free.

It was a big price, but it was worth it if it allowed her to get the pill.

Adora calmed down. However, she still retained a trace of suspicion in her heart.

“Show me the pill first and I will sign the parchment.”

“Fair enough.” Crow nodded. He then took a small box from his pocket and showed it to Adora.

Calmly, he opened the box, revealing a round and smooth pill inside.

As soon as the pill appeared, a strong medicinal scent followed by a wave of mana filled the room.

Adora’s breathing quickened. A Life-Replenishing Pill!

And judging from the mana coming from it, it was a Six Start Pill or higher.

Finally, she could get it!

But at that moment, another fluctuation of mana appeared in the room.

All of sudden, a magic circle appeared below Adora’s feet, quickly creating several chains that flew toward her.

‘A trap!’ Adora’s eyes widened.

Instinctively, her mana was released, creating a gust of wind that enveloped her as she jumped away.

However, due to her emotional turmoil after seeing the pill, her control over mana was a bit messy, impeding her to escape in time.

*Bam!*

Before she could leave the area of the formation, it had been completely activated, creating a barrier of mana that blocked her escape.

She had been trapped.
