Vlad’s gaze on Adora was thoughtful.
‘A seven-star Life-Replenishing Pill is something that seventh-realm practitioners covet. Adora is just in the third realm. She should not have any use for that kind of item, and she doesn’t look like she is suffering from a dangerous disease.
‘Then, is the pill for Laura? But she didn’t seem like someone sick either.’
Vlad was curious about why Adora wanted the seven-stars life-replenishing pill so badly. However, thinking about Adora’s reaction after he asked her about it, he decided to suppress his curiosity.
At the end of the day, Adora and he were barely acquaintances. Just like she said, it was better if he did not thrust his nose into her affairs.
He had his own troubles to worry about.
After the previous clash, the atmosphere between Adora and Vlad became awkward. Vlad did not let it bother him, though, and instead, he asked Adora about Crow and the South Crow Gang.
According to Adora, the South Crow Gang was established by Crow. He appeared in this part of the slums about five years ago and relied upon his core-formation strength to build the gang from scratch.
The South Crow Gang was not big. Compared to the big gangs in the city, it only had over a dozen of men, and the strongest of them was Crow. Besides Crow, there were three core-accumulation practitioners. Kevin, who Vlad killed, was one of them; and the other two were the two men following Crow.
Besides that information, Adora also told Vlad something that interested him.
Crow and one of the two men that followed him were bloodline possessors.
Crow’s bloodline was called [Hunter Eyes]. Adora did not know the specifics, only that it gave him some kind of eye skill.
As for the bloodline of his subordinate, it was some kind of bloodline related to stealth.
Vlad’s eyes gleamed when he learned about that.
He had just learned that he could absorb some of the traits of bloodline possessors through the blood seeds. Both Crow and his subordinate possessed bloodlines that interested him. If he could absorb them, his strength would grow.
After getting that information, he was even more determined to kill Crow.
...
Crow’s trail led Vlad and Adora to the walls of the city.
“The trail stops here,” Vlad spoke.
Adora frowned. “Are you sure?”
Vlad nodded.
“Could it be that they left the city?”
Vlad shook his head. “Impossible. The soldiers guarding the walls will attack anyone trying to jump over the walls.”
The walls of the capital were guarded by hundreds of soldiers and protected by dozens of powerful formations. Even a powerhouse at the ninth realm could not pass through these defenses easily.
There was not a city entrance nearby either, so it left only a way to pass the city walls.
A secret passage.
But Crow was just a low-level thug. Someone like him did not have the resources to access a secret passage that led outside the city. Something like that was controlled by the big gangs and the powerful noble families.
“If he didn’t leave the city, then he must be nearby.” Adora opined.
Vlad nodded and closed his eyes, putting his entire focus on his sense of smell.
Soon, he looked at a nearby dilapidated building.

It was very faint, but he could smell Crow’s scent inside.
“This way.”
When the pair arrived at the building, they furrowed their brows.
The building was heavily guarded by armed men, and every one of them was in the third realm at the very least.
Moreover, the two men guarding the entrance were much stronger, definitely stronger than Vlad before being crippled.
In other words, these two men should be fifth-realm practitioners.
Both Adora and Vlad became tense.
“It looks like we stumbled into something big,” Vlad whispered.
Adora did not reply and just looked at the dilapidated building.
She was confident that she could defeat any third-realm practitioner. If she fought a fourth-realm practitioner, she thought she still have a small chance to win, but fifth-realm practitioners were outside her league.
Fourth-realm practitioners were also called Core-Formation practitioners. At this level, the practitioners formed a core in their body, allowing them to manifest their mana externally to form a mana armor that increased greatly their defensive and offensive capabilities.
The fifth realm, on the other hand, was called ‘Consolidation’. In this realm, the practitioners gathered all the mana inside their bodies into their dantian, making their mana denser and strengthening their control over it. In this level, it became possible to release mana through long-distance attacks such as sword aura or sword waves.
Any of these attacks could seriously injure a third-realm practitioner like her. The difference was not something that just talent could bridge.
Adora then looked at Vlad. She did not know how strong Vlad was, but judging from his serious expression, he should not be a match for a fifth-realm practitioner either.
In fact, Vlad was even weaker than her. Right now, he was just the equivalent of a first-realm practitioner.
“Should we retreat?” He asked Adora.
Adora fell silent.
Right now, they have two options. The first one was to retreat and wait for Crow to come out before ambushing him. This was the safest option.
The second option was to sneak inside the building and find out what Crow was doing inside.
Vlad preferred the first option, but Adora was leaning toward the second.
Her goal was not just to kill Crow, but to get the seven-star life-replenishing pill.
She knew that a seven-star life-replenishing pill was not something that someone like Crow could get, in other words, he was only holding it temporarily.
And there was a high chance that the true owner of the pill was inside the building.
“I want to go inside.” She told Vlad.
Vlad hesitated.
“… How confident are you that we won’t be discovered?”
“If there is nobody over the sixth realm inside, then eighty percent.”
Vlad raised an eyebrow. It seemed that Adora was very confident in her stealth abilities.
Even so, Vlad did not want to go inside. He thought it was too risky.
But when he thought that he needed Adora’s help if he wanted to kill Crow, he sighed.
“Okay, let’s go. But we must be careful, and at the first sign of trouble, we leave.”
“Okay.”
Just like that, Vlad and Adora sneaked inside the dilapidated building.
