Chapter 10: 10. The Mad Scientist

"Indeed.", the girl with the dog mask affirmed with a small nod. Some of the crystals made of her RC-cell on the ground were picked by a vector.

She brings it to her face, studying it for a bit, rapidly getting bored she thrower it away.

"Who are you?", Tooka asked, her wings-like kagune still out and ready to fire at any moment. Kaede deadpanned her through her mask, and another piece of crystal bullet was picked and thrown at the blue-haired girl.

The projectile barely passed above her head, cutting a tiff of hair. She didn't even see it coming. Her heart grew cold at the dreadful realization, she could have died right here and right there.

"I was just passing by, I heard strange moans…and my identity is not of your concern. Why are you all so nervous?", the diclonius asked back, fidgeting with her phone, she showed that she deleted them but she has other saves already.

And you can get the recently deleted image back anyways. Tooka's mind being still on what just happened didn't react but the white-haired man, Yomo Remji sighed in relief as he saw what she did.

Kaede's stomach growled, loudly. Wanted food and so she abided by its rules. Taking a small package of teriyaki beef jerky from her backpack, she opened it and directly ate it with her hand, stuffing her mouth full.

She could do that as her mask had a hole for this, certainly not made for this but she didn't care.

Every ghoul around her stared at what she just in shock and disgust, especially Kaneki.

"How? Don't you find it disgusting? Inedible.", he said with a hint of desperation, slowly walking toward the little girl. Maybe she could help him.

"Taste of beef jerky. A bit dry but that's it.", she said as if it was the most normal thing in the world. It was for her but for him, his life recently turning to the worst, he become a man-eating monster. 

Why wouldn't he ask the ghoul in front of him that wasn't affected by this curse? It would have never crossed his mind that she was an entirely new species from humans and ghouls.

Her vectors, or at least what they can observe are for them a new type of kagune or a mutation of one, anything else being outright ridiculous for them.

Kaneki didn't stop, the response only fueling his desire to know he got closer and closer, he was going to be stopped by Tooka but yelled as his vision turned upside down.

"Hmmm *munch*, you are really artificial. Unlike Mother. Fascinating.", one vector held him by the foot, the grip was making his bone creek.

She cringed internally but that was one of the rules to not break, you don't try to be smart with people as insane and powerful as Eto. She could survive and potentially run away but beating and killing the One-Eyed Owl was another can of worm.

While two other vectors scooted his body, feeling around the transplanted kagune and his kakuhou while the half-ghoul squirmed in discomfort. It felt like hundreds of worms wiggling inside his body but it was strangely painless. It made it even more disturbing.

'Barely any sequelae… interesting. I want to meet the person that made this possible.', she analytically noted and praised a certain mad doctor for his ingenuity. She didn't know much about ghouls and human anatomy in general but she was damn sure that the guy who made this was a genius.

The other two ghouls didn't move centimeters, too afraid that any movement might cause the girl to transform Kaneki into extra fine minced meat. 

Yomo has heard of something similar happening in Ward 24, it was a rumor but rumors tend to have some truth in them.

"Arg!*BAM*"

The half-ghoul was let go by Kaede as if he were a bag of trash, his face planting on the hard pavement.

"You can keep him.", Kaede said and jumped to the ceiling with her vectors, rapidly disappearing from the three ghouls' view.

"I'm going to the Anteiku.", Yomo declared.

"No, no…", Kaneki on the ground mumbled, his hope to have a normal life back disappearing.

"Kaneki-kun we are following Yomo-san, immediately. Stop daydreaming!?", the blue-haired girl yelled at the distraught boy on the ground.

At the same time in an underground laboratory, an old man with pepper-white hair with brown eyes, and an amiable smile behind a surgical mask was seen humming a happy tune he remembered from his childhood.

In front of him was a young boy barely older than Kaede, he was a ghoul, drugged, gagged, nude, and strapped on his belly to a table made of a unique steel. 

An alliance of RC-cell from kagune, platinum, aluminum, and dozens of other metals.

He flicked the quinque needle of a small syringe with his gloved finger, it was filled with water, and a little bit of Kaede's blood diluted into it. He preferred calling her Lucy, she was the first of her species.

And it's pretty ironic.

He never met the girl, the blood was only given to him by the psychotic mummy, Eto, and it was only three vials of barely five milliliters each. He would have liked more but beggars can't be choosers.

He was also given a fragment of 'horn', it was harder than quinque steal by multiple folds, alas it was mostly useless to his knowledge.

The little boy while drugged was still fully awake and his eyes full of tears and terror were fixed on the needle. He couldn't run the medicine given to him was stopping the activation of his kagune, it was the fault of what he ate just before.

But he couldn't refuse it, they were starved to near insanity.

For optimal results, the Professor said, he knew, he knew. He wasn't going to come back just like his sister and mother. He was sure of it.

"Test number 7, subject name Hiro, species ghoul, type bikaku, age twelve, height 1.43 meter, weight 37 kilograms, sex male, heartbeat oh! You're pretty excited, aren't you? Me too!", Kanou Akihiro said with a hearty chuckle. Scaring the poor boy even further.

Akihiro added another strap above the boy's head and tightened the other twenty-three, to minimize the ghoul movement. From experience, the reaction was generally pretty violent.

The Professor placed a hand on Hiro's rightmost shoulder, where his kahukou was, an organ that stocked RC-cell and where the kagune emerged when activated. 

He sterilized the area with alcohol, then placed the needle, and plunged it in, it easily perforated the knife-proof skin and then the membrane of the kahukou.

The boy stopped moving, from terror, but he soon started to foam from the mouth and uncountably spam as the content of the syringe was fully injected.

Twenty hours later on a hospital bed, Hiro was seen peacefully sleeping, still mostly strapped, his tone of skin was sickly pale, he was half bald, eyes sunken, skinnier than before, he looked incredibly weak but he was alive. 

He heard the voice of the Profesor as he groggily opened his heavy eyelids, he felt strange. Incredibly so. He couldn't feel his right arms, he didn't know at the moment but it was simply because it literally rotted away, same for most of his right side.

"-subject 7 unlike 4 and 6 didn't have immediate, rapid, and uncontrollable total tissue necrosis and formation of tumo-oh you're finally awake! Welcome back to the world of the living Hiro-kun.", Akihiro jovially said, he looked like he was working on caffeine but he still looked like a child in the mids of his birthday party.

"Here if your hungry little guy.", he said in a fatherly voice, the way he talked sickened the boy but he was powerless, too exhausted to be furious at the monster in human skin in front of him.

He looked down to see a piece of orange flesh, it was salmon if remember correctly, there was a bowl of rice, a miso soup, he think, and two other things he didn't know why they were. He found the smell bizarrely appetizing.

Just next to this was a piece of raw meat, raw human meat. He felt strangely repulsed by it... 

"Go on, dig in.", the Professor encouraged with a small smile as he soon sipped his coffee.
