Hiro stared at the food in front of him, his mind elsewhere he obeyed Akihiro. With his only good arm, he took the chopsticks, and he cut a piece of salmon with difficulty.

He brings it to his mouth hesitating before putting it, he chewed it for what felt like an eternity and swallowed it. His body trembled, downing realization falling upon him. His terrified eyes looked at the Profesor whose smile only grew wider.

"Wha-*cought* you done to m-*cought* me?", the boy asked, his voice weak and hoarse.

"First. Congratulations Hiro-kun, you are the first who have been 'cured' of your ghoul status. Aren't you happy? Obviously, you see that as a curse don't you?", the old man rumbled, not really answering Hiro at all.

'Cured 'might be a big word… but Lucy's blood is killing, consuming RC-cells… Injected in the kahukou cause the collapse of the body and its DNA before ultimately dying as well. Same on humans who were injected… but it's less lethal.', he thought, taking notes of the boy's condition.

Hiro didn't become truly human, his genetic was that of a ghoul not much could be done here. His RC-factor would be compared to the average healthy human greatly inferior. He was closer to a failed half-human than anything else.

Half-humans just like their half-ghoul counterparts are born of the union between a ghoul and a human.

Usually physically as strong as ghouls they don't possess their other characteristics such as a kagune, kakugans, near the skin, and superhuman regeneration while they also don't need to eat human flesh to sustain themselves.

Half-human also has a very short lifespan, rarely ever-living past their thirties, they suffer from accelerated again.

Kishou Arima is half-human and arguably by far the strongest CCG agent.

He certainly is an outlet compared to the others in terms of power but it shows how strong a half-human can become if the right conditions are met.

Talent, training, genetics, intellect, will, genius, and education; are conditions that are near impossible to replicate.

Arima's white hair and glasses are not for style, he is becoming blind due to glaucoma and currently has less than ten years to live. He will go to any length to achieve his goal of changing the world and breaking the balance.

Hiro was a success but at the same time a failure, more than 30 % of his body was destroyed by necrosis, in those percent were his right arm, right leg, right lung, and a large part of his back.

He didn't feel pain but a heavy numbness all over his weak body thanks to the drug in the IV pouch connected to his left arm and only remaining arm.

Why would he want his test subject to die from a shock like this? It was already on the verge of death. Lucy's blood eliminated RC-cell via means unknown to the Professor but what he was sure of is that a chaotic period will soon arrive.

One week later in Anteiku.

Kaneki barged into the storeroom where Yoshimura, a talk and powerful old man with swept-back white hair and ever-closed eyes, Kirishima Touka, and Yomo Renji Yoshimura's right-hand man were discussing together about the little girls with the strange 'kagune', Kaede.

"I just remembered something!", he announced in excitement, frozen as he saw the serious atmosphere. He immediately profusely excused himself.

"Excuse accepted but be at ease Kaneki-kun, you're at home and we are talking about something that might interest you. You remember that little girl?", Yoshimura said, stoic as always.

"Yes! I came for this. I just recalled that one of the CCG agents mentioned that she was the One-Eyed Owl's daughter… Yoshimura-sama? Are you alright?", the young half-ghoul asked the shell-shocked old man.

'Eto has a daughter… I have a granddaughter… granddaughter and with who...', he felt as if time just stopped. His usual stoic face and small smile showed crack, an intense sense of guilt, self-hate, remorse, and self-loathing for himself and his past choices and actions.

The action he regrets the most was abandoning his and his now dead human lover, Ukina. It constantly gnawed at him in his mind like a demon, how much he regretted that choice.

The old man ignored the cry of worry from his employee, particularly Kaneki and Touka. Yomo Renji knew the old man's less bloody pass but didn't fare that much better at the new and what it entailed.

He mindlessly walked out, he was going to take a bath and sleep. He needed it.

In another ward, one of Kaede's vectors was booping the snout of a sleeping Bubble while the three others were probing the dog's spine.

"Can't do much more. Only time will tell, I guess.", the diclonius muttered under her breath.

"I'm home~! Did anyone miss me~?", the dulcet voice of Eto echoed in the whole ground floor of the house, waking up Bubble from his sleep.

"No!", was the immediate harsh and cold response of an annoyed Kaede.

'Fucking hormone and girl body…argg. Hugh.', she thought remembering the last seven days, Eto being a woman would have been oh so very helpful.

"Aw. You hurt me!", the green-haired woman said with fake sadness followed by a chuckle. She placed her glasses on the table and looked at Kaede.

"By the way, thank you for your immense help and support for my welcoming party to womanhood.", the red-haired girl said with heavy sarcasm.

Of course, she wasn't particularly angry at her adoptive mother but that didn't stop her from getting the message across not that Eto took anything seriously. She thought.

"That explains your current mood… Anyway!", she brushed it, not showing that she didn't particularly like that she missed this important step.

"How was your week? I see you got a new toy.", Eto asked, opening her handbag to take a plastic bag filled with fingers, Jason's fault and obsession to torture ghouls and humans alike.

"Erk. That doesn't look very good. Ah yes this is the quinque I took from a dead body… ah and I met this artificial ghoul guy you talked about, two times.", Kaede stared with unhidden disgust at the way Eto ate the fingers, she didn't like it raw.

"Oh him! What do you think of him?", she inquired and munched on another finger. Hmm, this one is from a ghoul, a middle-aged woman she reckoned.

"Desperate to be human again has masochistic tendencies to be beaten into submission by a stronger woman and he is walking on the fine line of kindness and utter stupidity leaning toward the latter. And his name is Kaneki.", she told her honest opinion of the young man while counting on her finger, accentuating each.

"Okay… I should have expected this.", she muttered, off course he was only human, not even one month ago. He didn't really have time to truly suffer.

'He is fucked, isn't he? Poor sod.', Kaede pitied the young man's fate, knowing what this calculating look on Eto's face meant but not how true her thought will be.

"Do you want to kill?", the half-ghoul proposed happily, his hand extended toward her adoptive daughter.

"Why not. Where and when though?", Kaede agreed with a small smile and a simple shrug but still asked for precision.

"Roughly at the end of this year, should be mid-December and it's in the 23rd Ward.", she answered with a grin splitting her face.

"The Cochlea?! You're completely insane! I'm in!", she fully agreed, taking the hand of her adoptive mother, proper herself while Eto giggled at Kaede's enthusiasm.
