Kaede from the branch of the tree she was on, her ruby red eyes staring perplexed at the crying Hinami, her face blank. It displeased her to see the other girl like this for some reason.
She didn't know the ghoul for long but it was the only interaction where she wasn't tense and ready to pounce and shred apart the flesh bag in front of her. It was foreign and familiar at the same time.
Hinami was normal in her eyes, as normal as a fatherless ghoul girl in a world like this could be. The only person she talked to without having the urge to hurt and kill in some way. Hinami didn't have any ulterior motive as far as she knew and hoped it was the case.
She let go of the hold her legs had on the branch, making her fall. Her body instinctively flipping, she landed softly on her feet. Dusting herself off she put a wild pink strand of hair away from her face.
Walking in front of the crying ghoul, she stared for half a second before deciding to sit next to her. Kaede warped an awkward but comforting arm around the other girl's back. And as if on instinct Hinami latched onto her.
"Wha—"
Bewildered, the diclonius shut herself up mid-sentence and didn't move nor did anything to stop Hinami. She was clearly out of her element here. It was very awkward. She looked up to the sky, noting that it was going to rain.
Hinami's crying intensified. Clutching the pink shirt of Kaede with her tiny hand. Her loud sob was all Kaede could hear. The brown-haired girl was stained and moistened to her shirt with her tear and snot.
'No… My poor shirt… it was one of my favorites.', she thought. Not particularly getting angry over it, eyes moving down there was the shoulder-length brown hair of Hinami and the black hair with pink sakura flowers blocking her sight. But the diclonius could feel how she cried against her barely existing chest.
Bringing her other arm, she wrapped it around the ghoul's back. Forming a sort of hug. Immediately, Hinami hugged her back, though she was physically stronger so it made it difficult for the pink-haired girl to breathe. She felt as if her arms were going to snap.
This strange awkward innocent but very tight hug continued for fifteen more minutes, and during this time Hinami sobbed, sniffed, and cries progressively lost in intensity. Her mind clearer, she gazed at Kaede. Her eyes went slightly wider when she noticed, the pink-haired girl's skin was a bit blue due to the lack of air.
"I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!"
Slipping out of the hug in a panic, Hinami spoke out in distress and worry. Ashamed and horrified of herself, of her action, and that she might have hurt Kaede.
Not noticing how it shouldn't be possible if Kaede was a ghoul. Her smell was different from that of a human and a ghoul but that would be silly to directly assume she wasn't a ghoul, right? It makes more sense to think that this is a new type of kagune.
"*cough* Uh-uhh no that's fine. You're totally and completely forgiven. But you could have snapped my frail spine in half ya know Hina-chan. Also… Do you feel any better? Emotionally speaking.", she coughed, catching her breath, and quipped. A vector scanned her body to see if she didn't have any broken ribs or injuries. She didn't.
Good because they were a pain to heal since she needed to do the surgery on herself, fully awake and blindly. Going to a hospital was not a viable option. For several obvious reasons, one being that she liked her freedom and her no status as a guinea pig.

Hinami, while not as strong as an adult ghoul was still a bit physically stronger than a grown and fit human male, while Kaede she was as strong as any random human girl in her eighteen.
Diclonii were physically stronger than a human, the Queen in particular, if Kaede was an adult she would be capable of tearing the head off a random human barehanded with minimal effort but it was still incomparable to what the average ghouls could do.
"Not really but… Thank you, Kaede-san...", she said with a sad smile tugging her lips. Wiping the tears away from her red eyes and cheeks with her sleeves she sniffed a bit just after. She didn't magically feel truly better. But her mind felt clear as if a fog she didn't know was here until now was blown away.
It let her vent a part of her bottled-up emotions, anger, indignation, grief, and a plethora of others. Her father died not even a month ago killed by the Doves because of what he had, her mother was nearly murdered by the same agent and now the person she considered her big brother disappeared. So no, she didn't particularly feel fine.
"Guess just as much. By the way, you can drop the '-san'. I don't particularly care about formality.", she said in a matter-of-fact tone. Venting emotions was good, well for it was through an untold amount of violence and death because otherwise, she ignored them but everyone has their own way to vent them.
She has an idea who might have disappeared but getting the information will be hard. She was adopted by Eto more than half a year ago but both were insane psychopaths, particularly Eto she was random or acted as such. But there was a sick and twisted Mother-Daughter bond between them. Frankly, a small part of Kaede was scared of Eto.
She didn't know when this happened to her. Kaneki might be anywhere in Tokyo. He will survive but will he still be Kaneki? Well, she didn't know and didn't particularly care as long as he didn't physically die. Which he wouldn't do with Eto.
Of course, everything above was just a possibility between millions of others, he might already be dead and his carcass is currently rotting in the sewer for all she knew.
No, she won't go look for him, not tell Hinami if she learns where he is because she will run directly where he is and fucking die. He was nearly a grown-ass man for fuck sake and she wasn't his babysitter either.
Taking out her phone, she looked at the hour. It was in the middle of the afternoon. Put it back in her pocket and looked back at the unmoving brown-haired ghoul.
"Is there something on my face?", she asked, propping herself off the bench, and looking down at her shirt with a hint of sadness. A vector picks up Bubble by warping like a snake around the evil ball of fluff. Putting him on the ground.
"Kaede were you crying?", hesitantly she asked. Getting up the bench she followed Kaede's lead.
'Huh? She is right but why tho…', she thought, confused. One of her vectors whips everything off her face. After all, monsters don't cry.
"Nah it's just the rain… see it's raining!", lying through her teeth, she blurted out as it started to rain cats and dogs.
"If you say s–WAAHH!", she screamed, interrupting her. Kaede caught the unexpecting hand of Hinami as both ran to the nearest shelter, an angry Bubble placed in her arms. The diclonius' vectors protect them from most of the down poor.
