Hinami ran through the park, eyes looking left and right in search of the person she wanted to thank. It was gnawing at her mind since her mother was saved. She knew the adults were also looking for her, for what she didn't know but she doubted it was for something good.
She continued to follow where her nose took her, stopping breathless and panting in front of a group of mostly elderly people talking together. Behind them was a lake with crystal clear water and a big fountain in the middle, trees covered in their orange and red autumn leaves could also be seen.
Dogs were running around, a particularly big husky jumped into the arms of a grinning girl with pink hair and two white ribbons on her head.
"Ow! You big douf!", Kaede giggled as the dog licked her face, its tail wagging so much it wouldn't surprise anyone if it were to fall off. A small Shiba Inu with luxurious black fur was playfully nipping at the bigger dog's left front paw.
"Stop it! Aha haha that tickle!"
The pink-haired girl then escaped the big dog when he was called back by its owner, she waved at both with a smile, she then looked at her phone and saw it was probably time to go back home. She propped herself up, her dress nearly void of any mud and grime thanks to her vectors.
The black Shiba Inu, Bubble followed behind her. Assisted by her vectors in his walk, they connected the two sides of the dog's broken spine and facilitated the movement of his hindquarter.
The small dog looked incredibly smug like he was the superior dog of the park. The King of Dogs. His tail was wagging thanks to Kaede. It was quite exhausting for her though, but it was another form of training.
"Umm hello.", Kaede turned her head and glanced at a panting brown-haired girl that was roughly her age, she seemed strangely familiar. Then it clicked inside the diclonius mind.
'Ah! Right… That's her, the ghoul girl. What does she want tho? I'm a complete stranger.', she thought, facing a fidgeting and nervous Hinami.
"Hello. Is there a problem? Do you need help? Are you lost?"
Kaede responded politely and as warmly as she could, so not much, her ruby-red eyes studying the other girl. Making the latter even more nervous.
"Thank you!", she bowed deeply and yelled a heartfelt thank you, Kaede now surprised and even more confused.
"Why are you-oh…", connecting the dot that the girl knew who she was but not how. She took Hinami's hand and walked to an area with fewer people. Dragging the bowing and now shellshocked Hinami.
"How do you know?"
Her voice was icy cold, her eyes starting right into her own, a vector gripping the ghoul's heart, ready to crush it. If the ghoul ever so made the wrong move or tried something funny.
"Wh-what?"
"How do you know?", she repeated, clenching her heart a tiny bit, "Hmm?"
"Your smell…", she answered meekly, very much scared for her life. Mind going over and over how dumb she was to even do what she has done. It was saying that I know who you are and can do whatever I want with this information. It was a normal reaction.
"Oh… okay, I believe you. Not like you could have lied. Well you could have but I would have known.", the diclonius said cheerfully with a full-blown smile, she pursed her lips and questioned again, "Now do other knows? Likely not but asking never hurt."
To which Hinami nervously shook her head. She relaxed when she felt the thing grasping her heart disappear. Falling to the ground she regulated her breathing and said thank you again.

"If it's like that…", she trailed off, "We at least need great introduce each other the right way, the name's Kaede, and what's your miss I can smell people track like the best bloodhound in the world?"
Kaede said jokingly, giving a hand to Hinami for her to get up. She took it and answered eyes directed at her feet.
"Hinami… my name is Hinami.", she mumbled. Standing shakily on her feet.
"Nice to meet you Hina-chan, does it pose a problem if I call you like that? No. Perfect. As you can see both of us know a thing or two so… I have a deal you won't refuse. I don't murder you and you don't tell anyone about this?", Kaede proposed, not like it's that much of a problem if she were to reveal what she looked like.
Uta already know but he is a special case, he never disclosed who bought what and what they looked like, and her face wasn't that much of a great secret in the first place. If worse came to worse she dyed her hair and used makeup or a face mask.
And unless Hinami has a photographic memory and was an expert portress she was fine.
The ghoul girl vigorously nodded earning a smile from Kaede who patted the other girl's head, not without difficulty as she is smaller… As to why she didn't kill Hinami, it is for a simple and dumb reason, the ghoul reminded Kaede of her little sister in her last life.
One week flew by and Hinami continued to go back to Yoyogi Park, where she met Kaede for the second time and where they met in general.
Kaede was dangerous and likely deranged but she also was the only person her age she could talk to. And maybe a friend. She didn't tell anyone even her mother that she met Kaede. But her mother did feel that something was going on but with how happy Hinami was when back at Anteiku she let it be and didn't question anything.
After the death of her father she never was the same. Now depressed and always faking her smile, disappeared was the sweet and innocent child. Kaneki helped in that regard but he could only do so much.
In a part of the park void of people, two girls could be seen on with neck long pink hair was hanging upside down from a tree and gazing at each other sitting on a bench with a dog sleeping next to her on it.
"Do you want to pet him?", Kaede asked, Hinami. Taken off guard nodded, "Go on, he probably won't bite. Much."
The ghoul carefully approached the sleeping dog, and said the dog opened one eye and closed it right after, she took that as an invitation and petted the black dog.
"Wow. He is so soft… ", she said softly in amazement, stars visible in her brown eyes. It was the first time in her life she petted a dog.
"That is because he eats the best food and has the best treatment. A little King, with the temper of a little shit. Same things."
The diclonius said proudly, the best food was delicious long 'pork' and everything else needed for a dog like Bubble to stay healthy and fit. Kaede preferred dogs to people by a large margin.
"You seem a bit down today, Hina-chan. More than usual, I mean, mind telling what is the thing behind this?", Kaede bluntly asked while using her finger to mindlessly play with a strand of her hair.
"Someone… someone close to me disappeared this morning after a fight an-and I'm worried about him but he will be fine because he is strong. He will be fine… Right?", Hinami let out, tears starting to fall in abandon.
'Huh… what do I do?'
