Chapter 7: 7. Encounter with a wild Kaneki

[Third Person POV]

Kaede was walking in Tokyo, alone. An eleven years old walking alone was mostly ignored by the people. Most are too busy to care. And the one that asked where was her mother she lied to them.

She was familiarizing herself with the city, she was going to buy books with her pocket money. 

She was dressed in pink as usual, 'It's going to rain and I don't have an umbrella… yeah.', she thought as she looked up.

The diclonius passed the pedestrian crossing to enter the bookstore in question.

Ten minutes later she was in front of the exit with a bag containing the books she bought, she sighed.

"Love rain… my fault should have anticipated this.", Kaede said with annoyance, nonetheless she liked Autumn. 

Everything was beautiful but the frequent and unexpected downpour of water was unpleasant when you needed to go out or when you were outside.

The humans were all with umbrellas in their hands while she continued on her way, most of the droplets were deflected by her vectors and never touched her body.

She didn't deflect all of them as it would be too obvious that there was something clearly unusual with her.

'Who is crying Okaasan, Ottousan, and Oniisan?', the diclonius thought and looked behind herself, her eyes going slightly wider as a girl of approximately her age, if a bit older, she was going to bump into her.

She moved to the side dodging the brown-haired, who slipped and fell the blue bag in her hand ending on the pavement.

"That yours… okay?", she said confusedly as she picked up the blue bag. Kaede looked up and the girl was already far away, she was going to give it back but whatever.

She shrugged and continued on her way back home.

On the other little girl's side, her name was Fueguchi Hinami and she was terrified, the smell of her Dad coming off the suitcase of the dove only meant one thing. 

He was dead. He died. She will never see him… she couldn't finish her thought as she bumped into a plump middle-aged woman.

"Watch it! Jeez. Be careful, brat.", the woman muttered before walking away, ignoring the clearly distressed little girl on the damp pavement.

Her clothes were getting even more drenched than they already were. She shivered on the ground.

"Hinami-chan!", a familiar and worried voice called her.

She looked up and responded with distress, "Oniisan!"

Kaneki crossed the road, dodging the car until he was in front of her. Not letting go of his blue umbrella, and not forgetting to excuse himself.

"Hinami-chan what's wrong?", the young man said with one hand on her shoulder, the umbrella in the other protecting them from the rain.

"Okaasan! Okaasan is…", she didn't finish her sentence as she hugged Kaneki, on the verge of crying.

"Where is she?", he asked and the young ghoul pointed in the direction. Both then ran to where Hinami's mother was.

Kaede saw the two run and followed them. The young man with the eye patch was familiar and she was going to give the bag back. She also heard a gunshot where the duo was heading and she was bored.

Kaede disappeared in one alley, verified that nobody saw her, and put the Shiba Inu mask on, it was foldable. So she kept it on her person at all times.

She then rapidly scaled the buildings with her vectors and followed the duo.

In another alley, four CCG agents were blocking all possible exits to a female ghoul, her kagune was out and it looked like the wing of a butterfly or the petal of a flower.

"Amon-kun, I don't need you for this. I'll do the rest.", Kureo Mado, a First Class Ghoul Investigator, instructed his apprentice with a deranged smile.

He then opened his suitcase with two clicks and took the handle of his new toy, a new quinque to replace the one Jason broke. Made with a 'special' material.

"Why… No… I don't want this…", let out Fueguchi Ryouko with anguish recognizing the quinque as her husband kagune.

Mado cackled and affirmed her doubt while taking the spine-like quinque out, "Good observation!"

"Darling.", she mumbled in a trembling voice, her tears making their way down her cheeks. Her eyes transfixed on the claw at the end of the quinque.

"Nice. This is the best! Despair, terror, hatred! Those expressions! More! Show me more!", the First Class Investigator said with a sadistic smile, each word uttered made his expression even more twisted and demented.

"Okaa-hmm!", Hinami was luckily stopped in time by Kaneki who muffled her with his hand. He then told her to be quiet. While inside he was questioning himself about what he can and what he should do.

"I'll show you some mercy. Do you want to know what his last words were?", he proposed with a smirk, his right eyes wide open while the left was nearly closed.

"Probably 'Please don't, I have a family bitch'?", everyone looked up as the new voice rang from above.

It was a young girl dressed in pink sportswear with a pug face in the middle of her pink sweater, on her feet were black boot sneakers, she was holding three bags in her left hand and was wearing an orange Shiba Inu mask, hiding her face.

'She is floating…? What…', thought a shocked Kaneki as he looked at the strange new 'levitating' newcomer.

Hinami was in a similar situation to Kaneki, hope started to bloom in her heart. She also recognized the blue bag. And she had difficulty smelling the other girl, the only thing she got was the smell of sakura flowers. 

Ryouko was also shocked and started to worry about the little girl that seemed of her daughter's age, she hoped that she ran away.

However the strange invisible kagune, she supposed it was the kagune of the little girls, what else would it be? That still surprised her.

"Hihihihihihi! That's quite the crass language you got here little lady!", Mado responded merrily to Kaede, though his slight shift in expression and how he made gestures with his free hand indicated the opposite.

The other CCG agents were preparing themselves to fight to the death if need be, especially Amon.

"Go, I'll take care of this myself! Remember the earlier meeting, it's the One-Eyed Owl's daughter! Run you fool!", he ordered the squad, they obeyed but with reluctance, only Amon remained stubborn and didn't move from his position.

"Go! That's an order! You're too young to die here!", he repeated himself, and this time Amon obeyed, he was sure his mentor would survive. 

But he was feeling like he was a coward and a traitor. He still followed the order and didn't see Kaneki and Hinami when he ran.

It was now only Mado, Ryouko, and Kaede in the alley.

"How heartwarming a human being acting like an actual sapient being with empathy for his fellow humans. Can't you understand that others can feel this?", he heard the sarcastic remark of the girl above.

He ignored her and studied how the droplet bounced off two things coming from her back and how they planted in the walls on her right and left sides. 

Mado could deduce the shape and greed burned in his heart, he was a quinque collector after all. 

He now truly understands why they call her the Kamaitachi and just from a video of the massacre in Ward 24 and with what her lineage is supposed to be they immediately rated her A and probably higher.

Meaning that she is supposed to be comparable to a First Class Investigator if not more. And they didn't know if she is a mutation of an existing ghoul or a new type of ghoul altogether.

He briskly flicked his quinque to the side and aimed it at Kaede, the girl piercing red eyes followed the claw and she anticipated where it would land, preparing herself to deflect and catch it.

What was the surprise of everyone here except Mato when the spine-shaped quinque suddenly changed direction and was now aimed at the downed mother's neck.

'No you don't.', thought Kaede, she didn't particularly care about the woman's life but she didn't want to let the creepy old dude have the satisfaction of doing what he want.

She detached herself from the walls, two of her vectors aimed at the quinque.

*CLANG*

The vectors and quinque slammed against each other but the quinque was already one-third through Ryouko's neck. The woman was gurgling blood, she was still alive though.

'Move please, you're useless.', the diclonius thought as she took the claw out of the woman's neck who fell backward, blood spurting like a fountain.

"Get over here!", Kaede declared with a smile behind her mask.

Three of her four vectors dragged the quinque like a rope. The investigator did not let go of his grips for even one second.

The latter reacted by taking a gun with Q-bullets out of his blouse and was shooting at the little girl's head with it.

*BANG**BANG**BANG*

Kaede's eyes snapped at the salve of bullets and then cut each and every one of them in two equal parts from the middle with her remaining vector.

Mato was now at vector reach and got grabbed by the neck, he struggled in vain as his hands were cleanly cut off by Kaede. Blood was spurting out.

Both hands are on the pavement never letting go of their weapons.

"No! Don't kill him! It's urg… hmm…bad…", Kaneki said to the girl with invisible arms but the end was mumbled and barely comprehensible.

While he said that Hinami ran to her mother's side in tears and immediately applied pressure to Ryouko's already healing neck with her jacket. The woman was also unconscious.

Kaede tilted her head to the side and burst out laughing as if she heard the funniest joke in the world.

"Ar-are you really serious?", she asked whizzing and the young man confirmed her doubt with a nod of affirmation. 

She bursts out laughing again for several minutes confusing the half-ghoul. What was so funny! She was going to murder someone!

"You are serious… Anyway, off with your head creepy fuck.", Kaede said as plainly as she could before cutting Mado's head, he was barely conscious due to blood loss and lack of oxygen anyway. 

The First Class Investigator's head slowly and cleanly slid off its body to then hit the bloody pavement with a loud *plock* sound then Kaede made it slowly roll with a vector to the feet of the now horrified Kaneki.
