At the end of her second week at St Law's, Lily was excited to learn that a party was to be held in her honour. A hand-picked few neighbours were invited for an extravagant dinner whilst other guests were to arrive later for dancing and supper.

Mr Carter selected three possible outfits for her mistress and lay them on her bed. After much pondering, Elizabeth picked a delicate sapphire gown with lace embellishments. Just as Mr Carterwas applying the finishing touches to her hair, Elizabeth heard the first guest arrive. As graceful as an antelope, she left the room, almost gliding across the landing and descending the central staircase.

"Ah, Elizabeth, you look heavenly. Let me introduce you to the Reverand William Donnelly, our new curate." Lord Horace disclosed as both William and Elizabeth's eyes connected, drawing a matching smile across both individuals' faces.

From that very moment, a firm friendship was formed. William accompanied her to dinner, and throughout the meal, they were engaged in deep conversation, and it was obvious that perhaps there was more than just a friendly bond growing between the two.

Across from the pair, a ripple of jealously permeated through the core of Lord Horace Harvey-Kengisngton...
