Chapter 30: Calm before the storm (2) Planning around breakfast

The sound of soft cute high pitched giggling slowly wakes me up. Opening my eyes I can't see a thing so I try to stretch my arms but get stuck in something.

"Wait, what the?! Oooh…"

Slightly ashamed I pull the blanket off my head causing Khloe to laugh "That ehh, that took you a while to realize"

Yawning widely I sit up and notice I was laying against her. "Wait… did I?!" Remembering the sensation of cuddling in my sleep makes me blush bright red.

A kind and caring smile forms on her lips "You did, but don't worry, I didn't mind" Holding her hand in front of her mouth she yawns before looking back my way "How did you sleep?"

Seeing her yawn causes me to yawn once more. Chuckling mid yawn, I quickly cover my mouth before smiling when done "Pretty good, no strange dreams this time. You?"

Avoiding eye contact she giggles "I slept well, but did have a very weird dream. For some reason you dyed your hair, tail and ears bright pink and wore a maid outfit."

Imagining what she saw in her dream makes me burst out in laughter only to leap up when the door flies open and Zhloe yells "AND WHY ARE WE LAUGHING?!"

Immediately hiding under the bed causes Khloe to giggle "Jeez, you scared the crap out of us."

She laughs "That was the intention. Although… where did Leone go?"

Climbing back on the bed I hold up my hand while looking down in embarrassment "Here…"

She giggles "Sorry did I scare you that badly?"

"Quite…"

With an apologetic look on her face she suppresses a giggle "Sorreh, but to make up for it, I got choco croissants."

Khloe immediately leaps out of the bed and rushes into the living room causing me to giggle "I think she likes them"

Zhloe smiles "She adores them, you coming?"

With a nod I hop out of bed causing her to frown "Come here for a second"

"Okay?"

Following her out of the bedroom I wait outside of the supply closet when she goes inside. A moment later she comes back holding a tape measure. "Heels against the door and ehh… wait, just stand up straight."

Giggling I stand up straight and wait for her to measure me.

"So I did see correctly, you grew five centimeters overnight."

Astonished I turn around "I did?!"

She nods "Yes you're one forty-four now. Yesterday during the scan you were one thirty-nine"

Unsure if it's normal for Animus I turn my head "That normal?"

Kindly smiling she shakes her head "No, not exactly. But it's not unheard of either."

Realizing there isn't any cause to worry I cover my mouth while yawning and scuff towards the couch "So tired…"

She laughs "Want some coffee? Felix and Happy should be arriving anytime soon, so let's wait for them before we start with breakfast."

Eager I nod and look up "A latte macchiato would be heavenly"

She chuckles "That sounds hilarious coming from you, but one latte coming up."

Giggling softly I lie down on my stomach on the for now empty couch. Only to look up when Khloe begins to speak.

"Hey, why do you wag so much?"

After stretching my legs and tail I look back up "Dunno, I didn't even know I did it that much. But I guess because I'm calm?"

Sitting down she smiles and sips from her tea "Glad to hear you're feeling calm"

With a relaxed smile I sit up and gently wash my wrists before rubbing it over my face "So what are Felix and Happy doing?"

Zhloe chuckles and replies with a teasing tone "Might be doing naughty things together"

Khloe once again bursts into laughter "Yeah right. Most likely he's trying to get her to wake up."

Laughing Zhloe hands me my coffee before sitting down next to me "To explain why we're waiting, the two of them have been a couple for quite some time, but Happy often sleeps very bad causing her to sleep in. As for the breakfast, every Saturday we have a brunch with all of us together.

Smiling I look up "Ah okay, what about Danny?"

She pouts and fakes wiping away a tear "Got called away, so he won't be joining us today, but he usually does."

"Ah that sucks…" For a couple of seconds I gaze into my cup of coffee before taking a sip.

[Hey… if you're there, odd question. Are relationships… allowed as Goddess?]

For an awkwardly long time it remains silent only for Leone to burst into laughter

-[Yes, Yes they are.]-

[Ah… Good to hear, just asking though!]

-[Yeah right.]-

Sighing softly causes Khloe to look up but just when she's about to open her mouth to talk the door opens.

"Morning guys, sorry we're late"

Seeing Felix's exhausted expression I snicker and turn my head "You okay?"

Happy whistles and looks at the ceiling in guilt "Partially my bad, definitely didn't keep kicking him tonight."

Khloe giggles "That bad? Also Partially?"

Felix nods and lifts up his shirt showing a dark blue bruise just under his left ribs. "She had a nightmare and I couldn't wake her up."

"Yikes you okay?"

He nods "Yeah it's just a bruise and am a little tired. Might have stayed up too long gaming as well."

Zhloe chuckles and looks at Happy "And you?"

She nods "Yeah, once he got me to wake up I managed to calm down."

Once they've taken a seat, Zhloe stands up with a smile "Coffee?"

Felix shakes his head "Just had a cup to wake up, but thank you."

"And you Happy?"

"A cup of tea would be nice"

Overly excited Zhloe claps in her hands and playfully pads to the kitchen where a few seconds later metal rattles causing her to squeak.

Alarmed I jump up "You okay?"

Awkwardly giggling she peeks around the corner of the inlet "Yeah, just forgot the oven was still hot."

Worried I shake my head "Hope you didn't burn yourself?"

She laughs and smiles "No, luckily I'm pretty resistant to high temperatures for short moments."

Felix chuckles and pokes my side "Wonder how Leone would do in the heat, seems snow doesn't bother her at all."

Unsure I shrug and drop myself back on the couch next to him "No idea, will probably find out soon enough."

Chuckling he nods and remains silent during which I space out listening to Khloe and Happy chatting.

A moment later Zhloe returns with a large bowl and a cup of tea which she hands to Happy "Your tea and.. Chocolate croissants!"

Khloe immediately grabs one and bites into it "So hot but so delicious!"

Giggling at her I want to grab one but immediately pull back my hand after touching it. "Felix, to give an answer to your earlier question… BAD"

He bursts into laughter and nods "Well, now we know!"

Moaning softly I lick my fingers "That hurt…"

Zhloe giggles and grabs one herself "They just came out of the oven, give it a minute."

With my hand no longer hurting I nod and take a sip of my coffee before trying again. Gently sniffing the croissant, I immediately bite in and purr loudly "It's so good!"

Curiously looking up Zhloe smiles "So still gonna train today?"

With an enthusiast nod I look up "Planning to"

My reaction causes Felix to smile "Curious to see what you can do."

Interested Khloe looks up and gives us both an imploring look. "Mind if I watch? Might also learn a thing or two about combat"

Having no reason to deny I nod. "Sure I don't mind, I'm just wondering where I could train with my sword…"

Felix looks up and quickly empties his mouth "Target training, or just training how to use it?"

Thinking for a moment I look up "While target training is useful, I think it better keep it at the latter, I can't remember ever holding a sword."

In thought he nods "Then I think the yard would work, or I could set you up a dummy in the large hall."

Thinking for a moment I smile "I'll try the hall seeing others want to watch and not everyone is as suited as me to the cold weather."

He smiles and grabs another croissant before standing up. "Alright I'm just gonna take a short walk and then I'll set it up, see you in twenty?"

With a nod I also grab another croissant "Sounds good"

He smiles and wants to walk away when Happy grabs his wrist making him look back "Wanna join?"

Still having her mouth full, she nods, stands up and climbs on his back. "Carry me my mighty steed!"

The two sisters laugh while I have trouble keeping a straight face.

Once they have left the room Khloe giggles again "That's a creative way of hiding you're exhausted"

Zhloe nods wearing a compassionate smile "Yep, it's nice to see she has someone to share the burdens with."

Curious and slightly worried from Zhloe's tone I frown "Due to her nightmares?"
