Rough shaking wakes me, yet when I open my eyes I'm unable to see a thing.

"Where am I?!"

[Oh right...]

Realizing I'm still in the cell I softly rub my face and sigh in defeat.

[Where are we headed?! What did the five beeps mean?! What did he mean with treatment?! What's going to happen to me?!]

Burrowing my face between my knees I burst out in tears.

[I want to go home…]

I've barely finished that thought when I hear high pitched but muffled screaming from outside the cell.

[What's going on?!]

A moment later the door of my cell is yanked open and the same giant man towers over me. "Turn around"

Realizing resisting is no use, I submissively turn around only to be picked up by my neck once again. "Why the ne-"

"Silence!" He tightens his grip causing me to black out once again.

Defeated I gaze at the floor of the ship only to shiver when a frigid wind blows down the hatch. Once he leaves the ship I see why as there's a deep layer of snow covering the ground. Looking around I try to see where we are but aside from a very dim light in the distance I can't make out anything else.

Apparently I moved too much as the man once again squeezes my neck almost knocking me out. Hanging like a ragdoll I simply gaze at the footsteps in the snow and wonder how many people were taken.

After a while we arrive at a steel gate which slides open but a moment later. Once we enter, the warm air leaving the building makes me shiver and moan which results in yet another squeeze and black-out.

The rhythmic shaking slowly makes me regain my senses and while we walk down a white marbled hall I feel my exhaustion trying to overtake me. Biting my lip I squeeze my eyes shut and barely manage myself from shaking my head in fear of another squeeze.

[Got to stay awake!]

A few agonizingly long minutes later we arrive at a pair of steel doors which the man pushes open. The sudden change in scenery causes a shiver to run down my spine while all color disappears from my face. A dark near black worn out linoleum floor with countless dents, scratches, holes and even dried puddles of blood enters my view.

Panic overtakes my mind and I try to wrestle myself loose only to be dropped and kicked so hard it takes a while before I crash onto the ground. Crying from pain and gasping for air I try to get up when something suddenly slams into the cage next to me. Looking up it feels like I've ended up in a surreal nightmare as a rabid near demon like man flails at me with claws for hands.

[WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!]

Horrified I crawl backwards and try to get up to flee. Only to be grabbed so tightly by my neck all my senses numb. "Now stay silent and don't move!"

Cringing together from fear and moaning from the excruciating pain in my chest I stay silent as he carries me further.

[It hurts…]

[It hurts so much…]

What feels like an eternity later, the man pushes open another door leading us into a room with the same floor yet without the damage and blood.

"Ah Admiral Brownfield, I see you've brought me a specimen?"

The crackling high pitched voice from the man who just spoke sends shivers down my spine and when the giant man holds me in the air, I gaze upon a skinny famished looking pale man wearing a doctor's coat. His white hair has almost completely fallen out and that which remains seems like it hasn't been washed in days. Bright red prying eyes gaze into mine causing everything within me to scream from fear.

"We finally found one"

The doctor's face lights up in excitement and he laughs so loud it almost sounds like screeching. "A perfect mix? Neither Angelic nor Demonic?! THAT'S WONDERFUL!"

His voice and crazed expression causes panic to once again cloud my mind and my instincts tell me to run at all costs, but before I can do anything the man holding me pushes me face down on a steel table.

Crying out from pain in my chest once again results in a tight squeeze making me bite my tongue.

"Scan her"

The manic doctor excitedly nods "Yes, Yes, I shall!"

He grabs a similar device like those used at our college from a white synthetic desk and tightly presses it against my face. The bright light once again blinds me and I'm not sure if it's due to my exhaustion or the device but my eyes burn even worse than they did last time.

When the device beeps five times the doctor screeches loudly and begins to point behind me. "Get her in! Get her in!"

The giant man pulls me off the table like a sack of potatoes and lugs me with him. Passing through a steel door I'm greeted by an untreated concrete floor. With some effort I manage to look up and spot a dozen cylindrical shaped holes in the ground.

Walking towards one, I see they're pitch black inside and filled with some shimmering liquid. When the man begins to lower me into one, the top immediately begins to close. Panicked I flail and try to wrestle myself loose only to feel such a strong squeeze in my neck I nearly faint.

When the man lets me go, my shoulder crashes into the closing lid causing an incredibly sharp pain to travel through my body when I feel my skin tearing. Crying out I feel myself landing in a sort of gel the shock of which cuts me short.

[Gross! What is this?!]

A moment later the lid twists completely shut blocking out the faintest trace of light. I scream out from terror and pain trying to wrestle myself loose from the gel yet with my hands bound I can barely move at all.

Feeling a sharp sting in my leg, I once again scream out from pain only to feel incredibly drowsy, my voice cuts out and my eyelids feel heavy. Slowly the panic fades and a strangely tranquil feeling washes over me.

Combined with my exhaustion, it doesn't take long for my body to give in, unable to keep my eyes open I feel my head bob before everything fades away.

--

On that day, I had no idea how much my life was about to change, how much suffering I'd find and how much I'd struggle to find answers.

Nor did I know how much freedom I was about to gain and above all how beautiful the struggle of life could be.

--

Oddly cold shock waves reverberating through my body causes my entire body to stiffen subsequently pulling me out of a deep slumber. With a high pitched yelp I startle awake and try to move yet my body feels like it's frozen solid. Looking around it's as if I'm swallowed by the void as there's no light or sound apart from my own breathing and heartbeat.

Panicked I desperately look around trying to find anything that can tell me where I am.

[It's all dark.. there's nothing.. Wait that can't be! I can breathe, there's air, but where the hell am I?!]

Stuck in that dark environment without anything happening for hours on end, memories about being kidnapped slowly surface in my mind.

[THAT WASN'T A DREAM?! Am I.. Still inside that hole?]

The silence and darkness leave me alone with my thoughts and despite being rather woozy, panic keeps flooding my mind. Desperate to find any change in the situation I try to move my arms once again but they still feel frozen. Trying to move my legs only results in the ice cold sensation to increase.

Frustration quickly turns into anger and while I want to scream and feel like assaulting whoever did this to me, the realization I can't do a thing slowly sinks in. The fiery rage within me quickly turns ice cold and an uncomfortable shiver runs down my spine.

As anger turns into fright, my emotions form a complex roller coaster from anger and frustration to anguish and hopelessness. Eventually my head begins to throb so hard I nearly lose consciousness. Startling from the complete lack of sensory input I can't help but hang my head in exhaustion and defeat.

[I want to go home…]

Tears burn in my eyes and begin to roll down my cheeks as I remember more and more. Faintly I remember my mom, yet I can't visualize her face, my dad is a complete blur, yet I can somehow feel that he's my father. Memories of a cat climbing on my leg spread a feeling of happiness only for that to be shattered by the memory of a giant kicking me in my chest and slamming me on a table.

[Is that truly what happened? How did I end up here? Why were they talking about me like I wasn't even there? Angelic? Demonic? What the hell do they mean?! Aren't I a human?! Why would they treat me like a lab rat?! Lab rat… Am I truly nothing more than a science project?]

With a deep sigh I hang my head in defeat.

[It's no use…]

Overwhelmed by my powerlessness and lack of memories I can't do much but silently cry and hope I'll be taken out soon.

[Somebody… Please… Get me out of here… I just want to go home…]

Suddenly the ice cold feeling around my body disappears and it feels as if I'm floating in some sort of liquid. Gears rattle and slowly light begins to illuminate my surroundings. Unsure about what is going to happen I frantically look around only to be greeted with what looks like a block of ice above my head. When I suddenly hear chiseling I can't help but startle and be overwhelmed by a mix of fright and hope.
