Followed by the soldiers an authoritative man enters and loudly barks commands "Head upstairs and gather all of them outside! Alive this time!"

His words make me turn pale from fear. I try to back away only to bump into something. About to scream out from tension, my mouth is covered by a soft hand followed by whispering "Come Quietly"

Recognizing the voice I look up to confirm it's indeed Miss Emery. Nodding I ease my muscles before following her to a small hatch in the floor.

"Go through, you should end up just outside of the gym"

Hesitant I give her a worried look "What about you?"

Resolute she shakes her head making her shoulder long black hair dance through the air. "I can't fit through there, I'm going to see if there are others I can help escape, now go"

Still hesitant I gaze into her wise green eyes causing her to push me through the hatch "Go!" She immediately closes the hatch and seconds later I hear the soft clacking of her running away.

Gazing into the dark corridor I can barely make out what I think are the walls of foundations. Realizing this must be the area between the old and new building I slowly make my way through the cramped space.

Partway through the corridor it widens but before I can take a breather I hear muffled voices and footsteps.

[People! Soldiers? Oh crap I gotta hide somewhere!]

Panic quickly overtakes my mind and I desperately try to find a spot to hide, but there's nowhere to go.

[Dammit why are they even in here?! I didn't even know about this path! Crap Crap Crap!]

Mere seconds later a bright light blinds me while a stern voice echoes. "You there! Halt!"

Panicked I slowly raise my hands.

"Now be a good girl and come with us"

Frightened and submissive I slowly nod before walking towards them where one of them grabs my bag. Startled I quickly grab the shoulder strap and cling on. "No Please! Don't take my bag"

With an irked groan another soldier punches me in my stomach, with the air knocked out of my lungs, I let go of the bag while I cringe together and fall on my knees fighting against tears.

"So what's in this bag that's so important huh?"

The soldier holds it upside down and shakes causing the contents to rain down onto the ground. With a loud crack I hear my laptop breaking while all my notebooks and belongings land in the dirt.

Tearing up I reach towards a key chain of my favorite game, but I'm pulled up by my collar before I can reach it.

"Hmm nothing special, just a nerd refusing to let her bag be taken. Although being diligent isn't a bad thing, you'd make a nice citizen for the Legion"

A soldier roughly grabs me by my neck and pushes me through the corridor. A couple of minutes later we resurface on the parking lot where the sun's brightness blinds and hurts my eyes. Before I get a chance to look around I'm grabbed by my chin. Scared I open my eyes and gaze into the rough battle-scarred face of an elderly man with a gray beard, his deep brown eyes angrily gaze into mine and it feels as if he gazes into my soul.

"A runner eh?"

Silenced from fear I do my best to keep in my tears yet some still roll down my cheeks. Snarling he motions to his right "Won't talk, get her to the others for scanning"

My wrists are tightly squeezed together and tied in front of me with a zip-tie before they push me forward. About a minute later we arrive at the main square filled with soldiers holding a large group of people captive. The soldiers forcefully push me down next to the group. "Sit!"

Sighing from defeat I hang my head and wallow in agony until a familiar gasp gets my attention. Looking to my left I see Emma staring at the sky. Following her gaze, I see a massive airship making a descent onto the sports field filling me with astonishment and fear.

[Airships that big to take over a city like this?]

After landing on the field across the square, the backside hatch immediately opens and another dozen soldiers march outside followed by a group of people dressed in white coats.

[Doctors..?]

While they make their way towards us, a masked soldier stops in front of us. Speaking through a megaphone his words echo around the square. "As a city in the contested parts of this world, you are hereby annexed in the name of the Holy Legion. As per direct order of the Legatus Farran the Seventh of the Holy Legion, you are to be scanned an analyzed for Animus particles!"

[The who and the what!?]

When multiple teachers gasp in horror, panic floods my mind and I desperately look around for more information. The doctors approach the group where they press a device looking like a VR headset against people's eyes.

While scanning, it sometimes beeps resulting in the person to be taken away by soldiers towards the airship. Multiple agonizing minutes filled with anxiety later, one of the doctors stops in front of me before roughly pressing the device against my head.

A multitude of bright flashes and lasers scan my eyes blinding me in the process. My eyes burn worse than they've ever have and it feels like the ground crumbles from underneath me in the process.

After seconds which felt like hours, the device beeps and I feel my heart stop and feel like the planet is about to swallow me whole. Yet it immediately beeps another five times causing the doctor to gasp. Tense from stress I can barely fathom what's going on and when the doctor removes the headset I fall over simply gazing into nothingness.

[What's happening?! What does that beep mean? Why did it beep five times? Am I going to be taken?]

Before I have a chance to sort my thoughts, I see a giant man leave the airship in the corner of my eye. Daunted by his stature I take a better look and despite him being quite far away he looks incredibly tall. Clad in pitch black composite armor and wearing a large battleaxe on his back he looks like something that'd scare the monsters in your worst nightmares.

While he walks towards us, panic completely overtakes my mind and I try to crawl away only to receive such a hard kick it feels like my ribs shatter. Cringing together I cry out from pain and try to get back up, but before I can I'm grabbed by my throat and lifted up in the air.

Gazing at the giant man while he holds me in the air like a ragdoll, the realization hits he must be at least two and a half meters tall. With fear clouding my mind, I try to wrestle myself loose, but his grip simply tightens leaving me barely any room to breathe. Without saying a word he grabs the device out of the doctor's hands before tightly pressing it on my face.

Within seconds the device repeats the same beeps causing a horrifyingly loud and menacing laughter to bellow around the square. "Finally!"

His course and heavy voice only adds to the panic and I feel myself tremble from fear while a warm liquid runs down my legs. "So this is how the chosen one looks? Quite weak, although that'll change after the treatment"

He drops me on the ground before hunching down and grabbing my chin. His dark red eyes prying from behind the transparent visor of his helmet "Rather young, how old are you?"

Frozen from fear I can't manage to make a sound causing him to squeeze my jaw so hard I feel it cracking. Bursting out in tears I cry out from pain.

"I asked. How old are you?"

Stuttering in fear of a harder squeeze I finally manage to produce some sound "F-F-Fourteen"

"Not that hard, was it?" Grabbing me behind my neck he stands up. Dangling in his hand the weight of my body pulling on my neck causes me to cry out in pain.

"I'll take this one. Scan the rest."

As he keeps holding me by my neck I flail around in an attempt to break free, but the added strain on my neck and his tightening grip cause my entire body to feel numb while dizziness clouds my mind. When I fall silent he makes an approving sound while he continues towards the ship.

On the way to the ship I occasionally feel my vision fading but I can barely make out the interior of the brightly lit metal ship. It seems the other people that were taken are bound to a railing on the side and hearing from the moaning they've all pretty much given up hope.

Moments later the man stops "Now be a good girl and stay silent until we arrive at our destination." Opening a metal door, he throws me inside after which he slams the door shut.

I can vaguely make out the voice of Mister Kato before I once again black out for a moment. Unable to see anything within the cell, I feel around realizing I'm locked up in a very small steel cell of maybe a meter wide without a single window or vent.

Pulling up my legs I lean against the wall, yet without any kind of sound or light, it doesn't take long before my exhaustion takes it's toll and I lose consciousness.
