Chapter 50: Drunkeness
Lu Zheng was a little puzzled. He couldn’t understand why he suddenly mentioned moving out. He asked in a firm tone, and Chang Qing replied lightly: “If I move out, maybe I will have something to do.”
Lu Zheng’s anger came and went quickly. At this time, there was a bit more unexplainable frustration. He said, ”… sure, whatever you want.”
Chang Qing lowered his eyes and really began to think about what he wanted to do.
After thinking about it, there was only one answer. There was nothing he wanted to do.
Maybe, he thought, he really came here to eat and die.
Chang Qing doesn’t have any big ambitions. He even has a good way of supporting himself. His material needs weren’t very high. His emotional needs were relatively stronger.
Originally, he didn’t give all his attention to Lu Hua. At first… it was Lu Xuan.
Now it’s Lu Hua again.
Chang Qing felt that he was actually somewhat defective. He demanded a lot from emotional relationships, just like a fish can’t live without water. There was a sense of panic that if you leave, you will suffocate and die.
It also had something to do with his childhood,. As he grew up, he realized that even in relationships, there was no way to be inseparable. Everyone was independent and self-possessed. There was no way to rely on others wholeheartedly all the time, or be dependent.
Chang Qing was very good to everyone, because he always tries to establish some emotional connection, but whether it is friends or lovers, without exception, they all reject his exaggerated emotional density.
This was some kind of flaw in Chang Qing. He has now learned to cover up this flaw. At least on the surface, others can’t see his expectations and desires for a certain emotional direction. He could also pull away cleanly without getting too attached.
Now he understands very well that he would feel suffocated without these emotional connections and others will also feel suffocated by his bottomless contact and encroachment into their space.
All he can do is ask for companionship within a reasonable range.
In fact, he wasn’t bottomlessly good to Lu Hua. Lu Hua’s dependence on him was enough to make him feel happy from the bottom of his heart and feel at ease for it.
To some extent, he was even grateful to Lu Hua.
This can’t be said to Lu Zheng. It’s his secret.
He had almost completely immersed himself in Lu Xuan before. If nothing happened at that time, how would a gentle and tolerant man like Lu Xuan react to his flaws?
Chang Qing has thought about it many times and made many assumptions. The more assumptions, the more perfect the conclusion.
Lu Xuan would tolerate his flaws.
This conclusion made him indescribably sad.
He had lived for 25 years in his previous life, all alone, which really spoke for itself.
Now that he knows the result, he doesn’t want to fall in love anymore, it’s too uncomfortable.
He’s really going to go it alone.
Chang Qing didn’t want to think about these sad things anymore. He sighed, and when he came back to his senses, he found that he had already drunk the large cocktail he was holding.
Seeing him shaking his wine glass, Lu Zheng asked, “Do you want more?”
Chang Qing hesitated for a while, “I’ll have another drink.”
Lu Zheng picked up the wine he’d only drunk a few sips out of and poured it into Chang Qing’s glass. Then he ordered himself a glass of whiskey.
Chang Qing continued to drink.
Lu Zheng asked, “Are you serious about moving out?”
Chang Qing paused, “I just said it casually.”
Lu Zheng was silent.
Chang Qing glanced at him and suddenly asked, “At this age, have you never been in a relationship?”
Lu Zheng glanced at him and said with a little impatience, “Why, do you want to introduce someone to me?”
He knows some people always have that exuberant matchmaking**.1
Chang Qing smiled, “I asked if you had anyone, and you directly questioned me whether or not I wanted to introduce someone to you.”
Lu Zheng asked rhetorically: “Otherwise?”
Chang Qing said, “You shouldn’t have been. You don’t look like someone who has been in love. If I see someone good in the future, I’ll introduce them to you.”
When he said this, he was half propped up on the table, and the two leaned a little closer together. As soon as Lu Zheng raised his face, he felt his gentle breath fall on his face, with a little sweet aroma of wine.
Under the colorful lights, Lu Zheng’s gaze crashed into Chang Qing’s eyes. Chang Qing’s gentle and warm eyes were even more radiant at this moment. There was an indescribable look in them.
Some strange emotions accompanied by a surge of adrenaline began to spread out, making Lu Zheng’s heart, which had always been well-behaved, feel a kind of pain, as if it were being stabbed.
He leaned back unobtrusively. Leaning back on the couch in a natural posture, he waved to a passing waiter, “Another whiskey.”
“Okay.” The waiter responded and brought Lu Zheng a glass of whisky.
His move was very natural, full of Lu Zheng’s style. Chang Qing didn’t notice anything wrong. He smiled and said softly: “Don’t get drunk. This place is a long way from the hotel, and I can’t carry you.”
Lu Zheng snorted coldly, “I’m a good drinker. If you want to get drunk, you’ll get drunk. No matter how low the alcohol level of this cocktail is, it’s still higher than ordinary alcohol. Mind your own business.”

Chang Qing also became more energetic and said, “What do you know? I’ve been drinking Ergotou white wine before you were even born.”
Lu Zheng sarcastically said, “Do you think I’ve never had Erguotou? With such a degree, it can’t even compare with the glass of whisky in my hand.”
Chang Qing felt a little competitive, “How strong can that whisky be? Give it to me.”
Chang Qing grabbed the wine glass in Lu Zheng’s hand. He hesitated for just a moment, then lowered his head and took a sip.
Lu Zheng propped himself up on the table and stared at his face, “How’s that? One sip and you’re drunk, right?
Chang Qing paused, threw his head back, and drank the whole cup.
He put down the wine glass, half-squinted his eyes, and savored it. After a while, presumably after he’d finished digesting it, he spoke lightly, “Is that all?”
Lu Zheng pondered and glanced at him a few times, “…You’re a good drinker.”
Lu Zheng only had one drink, and his whole body became hot. He was prone to blushing. Even without a mirror, he knew that his face should be red.
This wasn’t good looking, and it was hard to sober up, so Lu Zheng seldom lets himself drink, but his drinking capacity isn’t bad. The old ancestors of the Lu family had passed down the ability to drink a thousand cups and never get drunk.
Lu Zheng couldn’t be bothered to argue with Chang Qing about this. If these two compare their ability to drink then it’s estimated that the final result wouldn’t be good. “Alright, finish your drink. Let’s go back.”
He spoke slowly, only to see Chang Qing sit down and finish the cocktail. Occasionally his eyes would glance at him, and there was a little moisture in his eyes giving off a hazy feeling.
Lu Zheng was stunned for a moment. He stretched out his hand and waved it in front of Chang Qing’s eyes. His tone was unpleasant. “Really? Fucking… how can you be so good at drinking? Erguotou? Old Bai? A glass of whiskey and you’re out?
Chang Qing grabbed his hand. Lu Zheng was slightly surprised. Before he had time to pull his hand back, he saw Chang Qing grabbing his finger and bending it back towards his hand.
Lu Zheng hurriedly stretched out his other hand, and squeezed his finger tightly, “What are you crazy?”
Chang Qing was really drunk. He turned a deaf ear to Lu Zheng’s words. His fingers were pinched and he obediently looked at him with half-closed eyes, as if seeing Lu Zheng for the first time.
“Fuck, are you really drunk?!” Lu Zheng was about to laugh in anger. At first, he said that he couldn’t hold his liquor well, but now, what was he trying to do?
“Forget it. Let’s go back.” Lu Zheng pulled Chang Qing up and called the waiter to clean up before pulling him out.
The drunk Chang Qing was different from ordinary drunk people. He seemed to be immersed in his own world. He had nothing to say and was very quiet.
This kind of silence was almost a heavy silence, and it made Lu Zheng a little uncomfortable.
After they left the bar, Lu Zheng started to scold him. He knew that he probably couldn’t hear him. However, his mouth became addicted to scolding him, “You’re so funny. If you can’t drink, you can’t drink. What can you be proud of? Drinking better than me? Can that make you happy? Is this a competition? You’re so motivated, why can’t you answer anything when I ask you what you want to do?”
Lu Zheng’s tone was a little heavy, and Chang Qing reacted a little. “Idiot.”
“…” Lu Zheng raised his eyebrows in surprise, then quickly recovered his deadpan expression, “What did you say?”
Chang Qing raised his face and looked at him, “I said you were an idiot.”
Lu Zheng smiled angrily, “You’re an idiot!”
He reacted again and looked at him with a little probing and scrutiny in his eyes: “Are you pretending to be drunk?”
Chang Qing lowered his head and began to softly hum a song.
It was a tune that Lu Zheng had never heard before, with a beautiful rhythm and a bit of joy, as if it was reflecting the singer’s mood.
From Lu Zheng’s point of view, he could only see Chang Qing’s hairy head. He silently withdrew his eyes and said, “OK, I’ll settle accounts with you when you wake up tomorrow.”
He pulled Chang Qing’s sleeve and didn’t touch Chang Qing’s skin. He always kept his distance and didn’t overstep it, even now.
But in this atmosphere, Lu Zheng had a strange feeling. This feeling reached its peak when he saw a couple kissing under a street light.
He finally felt a bit transparent.
When he was together with Chang Qing, they gave of an illusion that they were a cheap couple.
Lu Zheng became irritable again. He let go of Chang Qing, and walked in front of him. Then he spoke to Chang Qing without looking back, “You can walk by yourself, keep up.”
However, after a few steps, he didn’t hear Chang Qing’s footsteps. He couldn’t help but look back, and saw him standing facing the street lamp, pressing his head against the lamp post, motionless.
Lu Zheng was speechless. When Chang Qing was drunk, it was like he had been cast a halo of wisdom reduction. What he did couldn’t be explained by common sense.
But on second thought, it was good enough that he didn’t cry or make a fuss after he was drunk. Why does he care so much about a drunken man?
Thinking of this, Lu Zheng took a breath and tried to calm the irritability in his heart. He raised his foot and walked to Chang Qing’s side, “What are you doing?”
While Lu Zheng asked this, his eyes inadvertently fell on the back of Chang Qing’s neck.
Some of what Lu Hua said actually made sense. Chang Qing was good-looking everywhere, a bit smaller and more delicate than normal men, and the neck that was displayed in front of Lu Zheng right then was the same.
The slender, thin black hair was lightly swept, which set off the fair and delicate neck. Lu Zheng also saw a small red mole on the protruding neck bone, which slid away with Chang Qing’s nod. It was somehow a bit flirtatious.
Lu Zheng watched it for a long time, and didn’t notice that Chang Qing had crouched down. Subsequently, he vomited with a loud and earth-shattering sound, drawing Lu Zheng’s attention away from these inexplicable places and into reality.
“Where are you vomiting?” Lu Zheng almost jumped up.
