"I want to say it is an honor that Rena's adoptive son knows about me." Nakiri Sanzaemon paused, sipping his tea. "But I won't lie to myself and say that when I know that he is the son of Akira Shimizu." I raised one of my eyebrows slightly but didn't give him any expression. Inwardly, I rack my brain thinking what is his reason for mentioning my father.

"I heard you live with your sister right now, the legal daughter of Akira Shimizu. I wonder how would your father's enemies react to the fact that he has two children, especially if you are just an illegitimate son. They would be crazy for revenge. Poor your sister, living in fear as she has to bear her father's sin." He shakes his head mockingly. Megumi-san looked at us uncomfortably, didn't really know what to do. As for me, a realization hit my brain at what he said.

'Is this his power play, threatening me to make me submissive to do as he wants? Is that so, then he is more foolish than what the manga painted him to be.' I snorted at my thought and replied easily,

"You can do all you want, I know our identity as Akira Shimizu's children will be leaked out sooner or later, and I already have a plan for that. As to my sister, well.. She is seventeen already and she will be graduating from high school next year, so I can just send her abroad to avoid this mess. She has already known about this and has no problem with my plan." I paused, then grinned menacingly at him.

"And speaking of ruining one's life? It is not our lives that will be ruined. Instead, it is you, and probably your family's lives and Totsuki's reputation."

"How so?" Now I can see a slightly surprised and curious expression on his face.

"Well, I wonder what would happen if the news about Totsuki only accepting students whom the family has famous restaurant leaked out, especially after all of the applicants have to pay a good amount of money just to enter the entrance exam."

"It is just a rumor, there is no proof about what you said." I snorted at his answer.

"So you didn't deny the fact, but you choose to ignore it because you think I cannot do anything about it. Well, you are wrong about the second one. I don't need any evidence. Just a single rumor is enough to make journalists go frenzy dragging your school's reputation. I wonder how long it will take for the ministry of education to get involved.

Besides, I still have a lot of bad rumors about your family. What about your son-in-law, Azami Nakiri, and how he educated his daughter, your granddaughter, to utilize her god's tongue." I hummed, clearly ignoring Sanzaemon's narrowed eyes. "I heard that he started to make a move to take over Totsuki from you. Poor Erina, have to live in fear of his father once again." I parroted Sanzaemon's mock at the beginning.

Inwardly, I feel glad that I remembered the detail of Shokugeki no Soma right before I come here because the last one about Azami's plan to take over is just a bluff based on the future in Shokugeki no Soma. I don't really know about Azami, but I have to make sure that this old man knows I don't react to a threat very well.

Then suddenly, Sanzaemon let a loud laugh out of nothing, clearly surprising both me and Megumi-san who didn't talk since the beginning of the conversation.

"You are indeed an interesting young man, Hiroyuki Hori." He wiped a single tear in his eyes as he stopped laughing.

"So, are we done with this stupid little power play?"

"I don't appreciate getting threatened by a mere boy like you. So you better not pull that stunt in front of me once again, or else.." He put a threatening tone in his voice, but I know it is just a weak attempt after his laugh so I just snorted at him.

"Or else what? You can ruin our lives as much as you like, but I know how to live with it. And you, I can tell ruining your life is not worthy enough. But I can do that to your granddaughters. I bet you treat both Alice and Erina as princesses, right?

Now, imagine both of them have to live outside your castle, having to do the common tasks just like any ordinary people. I don't think they will survive for a week. I bet they didn't even know how to do such a simple thing as washing their own clothes, is that right?" This time, Sanzaemon just gives me a nostalgic smile.

"If I don't know that you were just adopted, I would think you are really the blood of Rena." He paused, sipping his tea once again but definitely didn't deny my accusation.

"Do you know that the first time I know her, she threatened me because her girl, Megumi-san here, was rejected from my school because of the same reason you talked about?" Megumi-san blushed as she didn't expect Rena-san would call the headmaster directly just because of her.

"That time, she threatened me with very colorful words, and to my amazement, I didn't hear a single mention of her husband for once in her threat. She said she could kiss my ass anytime she wanted without the backup of her husband. The way you threatened me before, is just like how Rena did in the past. She will approve of what you did."

"Not that I don't want to hear a story about Rena-san kicking your ass, but what is the reason for you coming here and wanting to talk to both of us?" He sighed, probably wondering where to start.

"It is related to what you said before, about my granddaughter. Do you think they can work here as a part-timer?" This time, Megumi-san and I were stunned for a second before I gained my composure again and asked,

"Why do you want them to work here, and why here?" I narrowed my eyes in suspicion. He sighed defeatedly before replying,

"As you said before, I have pampered both my granddaughters too much, so I want to put them straight and teach them how to live as normal people. But I don't have to do it myself.

As for why I wanted to ask you, it is because of your reaction. I tested a lot of restaurants before with the same kind of threat and see how would they react. But almost all of them feared what I can do or started licking my feet to be on my good side. They will definitely do the same to my granddaughter, which will null the purpose of the work.

As for you, not only you didn't cower in my threat, you throw back a threat to me in a such way that I believe you will do what you said. And the most important is, Rena-san sent a lot of foods you both cooked in the past to my door, and I can say you are far better than most of the Totsuki students at that time. Hell, I can see one of you challenging the first place on my student council. That is the reason why I can trust you with both my granddaughters."

"And why now, out of all times?" I started rubbing my forehead tiredly. Honestly, after the talk with Oikawa and with Sanzaemon-san, I wonder when will the day end.

"You said it yourself that Azami started his move to take over Totsuki from me. I don't know for how long I can protect them, so I want to start preparing the worst case for now." I turned my attention to Megumi-san who didn't speak any words from the start and asked,

"What do you think about it?" She just shrugged at my question.

"I don't mind getting more help, as long as they respect me as the head of the Den. Nino is also mentioning her wanting to work here part-time and learn how to cook." I think for a while before replying,

"Don't worry, I will be here personally to take care of them, so you can take care of Nino. They can come here next month if you are really serious about what you said, but I won't let them take over the kitchen. You better said it to your princesses." Megumi-san and Sanzaemon-san showed surprised expressions for different reasons.

"Really? Do you want to be here just for them? How about Kiyoko?" She frowned at me skeptically.

"Don't worry about her. Her volleyball team will have a training camp in Tokyo next month so I will be alone for at least a week." I said as I remember the training camp arc in Haikyuu.

"And why won't you let my granddaughters take over the kitchen? You know of their reputation, right?" This time Sanzaemon asks curiously.

"Of course, I know. The holder of god's tongue and the famous scientist chef, right?" He nodded at my question.

"My problem is they only respect food with the highest ingredients and throw away the other as if it is not worth eating. Honestly, it is part of your fault. I know you want to spoil them to death after what Erina experienced as a kid. But you didn't teach them how precious is any food for several people.

You yourself were born in the era right after Japan lost in world war 2, so you know better than anyone how precious a plate of rice was at that time. I wonder why didn't you teach it to your family." When I finished my rant, I can see a single tear shed from his eyes.

"You are right. I still remember eating only plain slices of bread for a week when I was a child. But now, all of my family see a lot of foods with disgusted looks in their eyes. It is really part of my failure, just like what you said. So, can you do the old man a favor and help me fix my mistakes?" He bowed deeply to me, waiting for my answer. I sighed tiredly as I answered,

"Sure, just let them know what to expect here and not to create trouble."

Author note:

I just realized that this fanfiction is filled with my criticism about a lot of famous manga. It is not that I don't like the original story, but there are several things I found wrong in the series. What do you think about this chapter?

The next chapter is about the conversation between Matheo and Oikawa and the beginning of Karasuno vs Aoba Johsai. Thank you!
