Everyone was happily chatting after having dinner when suddenly the sharp and piercing sound of the alert males were heard.

Then, someone shouted, “There’s a flying beast, oh my God… it’s a flying beast…”

Sa Lei quickly shouted “Protect the females and children, get back to your tents.”

Several other males followed suit, shouting as they moved quickly.

The camp was in chaos as the males scrambled to grab their weapons while the females, children and old men quickly retreated to their tents. Qin Fei was also tucked back into the tent by Sa Lei and through a gap in the tent, Qin Fei saw that there were several pterosaur-like mythical beasts behind the gloomy sky, rapidly approaching the camp.

The flying beasts were very swift and fierce in their attacks. Moreover it had the superiority in the air. Although the males, armed with weapons, kept fighting back, they were unable to repel the flying beasts. Instead, several of the males were overturned by the beasts’ bony wings and would have been killed by the beasts’ sharp talons and fangs, if they had not been rescued in time by the rest of the members of the tribe.

The males’s back leaned on another males’s back, in small circles, ready for the onslaught. However, the cunning flying beasts did not attack the males, as some of them made quick work of the captive bleats and brown furries, while others swooped down on the tents in the camp. Their beaks and claws were so sharp that they tore open several tents in the blink of an eye. In two of the tents, there happened to be a few females and children hiding.

When the males saw that the flying beasts had changed their attack, they ran towards the tents that had been torn open, not caring about the captive animals. But the speed of the flying beast was too great and although the males were not slow to rescue them, one female was caught by the flying beast. As they watched, the flying beast’s bony wings vibrated rapidly and in the blink of an eye they were off the ground. The males’ spears were unable to reach it, he roared and hissed at it in desperation.

When Qin Fei heard the males’ frenzied hissing, he knew something was wrong outside and immediately lifted the tent and rushed out. As soon as he saw the flying beast trying to take the female, he grabbed a spear that had been knocked off the ground by one of the males and threw it with all his strength at the beast.

The flying beast did not expect to be attacked when it was already flying off the ground. It had no time to dodge before it was impaled by the sharp tip of the spear. It cried out in agony and let go of the female in its claws.

“Catch, catch her…”

Before Qin Fei could say anything, a male had already darted over and caught the female. The two of them rolled and crawled, as they frantically tried to escape and hid in the guards of a group of people.

The mountain shatterer mythical beast’s stinger was extremely sharp and razor-sharp, therefore the flying beast that was stabbed by Qin Fei was badly injured, finally flopping to the ground and being stabbed by several males who were working together.

The female that was rescued did not suffer any serious injuries as her chest and waist were wrapped in animal skins, only her arms and legs were cut with a small bleeding wound. She was shivering, hiding in the arms of the male who had saved her.

Everyone was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when they saw that the female had been safely rescued. Instead, they were horrified to find Qin Fei exposed in the clearing, with no cover around him and no other tribe members. The nearest male in a protective circle was more than 20 metres away from Qin Fei.

“Qin Fei, go back quickly… Watch out”

Sa Lei was directing the tribe members to fight with several flying beasts, when he saw Qin Fei rushing out of the tent to save a female caught by a flying beast, exposing himself, he shouted out a warning in anxiety. But then he caught a glimpse of a flying beast swooping down, targeting Qin Fei and was scared to death. He tried to rush to the rescue, but the flying beast had already reached Qin Fei’s back. Sa Lei could only hiss and warn Qin Fei.

Qin Fei heard the strong wind coming and hurriedly bent down and rolled for cover. When he had just ducked into the tent, he had stuck his sabre in his waist. Now by rolling, he pulled out his sabre and slashed at the incoming black shadow. It was Qin Fei’s luck that the knife hit the flying beast in the abdomen. The flying beast let out a miserable scream and violently pulled itself upwards, trying to fly off the ground to escape the dangerous pain. But Qin Fei had a firm grip on the sabre and pulled it, ripping the beast open alive. It flopped a few times and then fell still, the fishy smell of blood quickly dispersing in the air.

Sa Lei was relieved to see that the attacking beast had been killed by Qin Fei, when another one came charging down straight at him. This flying beast was huge and formidable, it was the leader of these flying beasts and as it let out a high-pitched roar, it grabbed Qin Fei with both claws, looking at its stance, it seemed to want to tear Qin Fei apart with one blow.

Seeing that it was too late to run over, Sa Lei followed Qin Fei’s example and threw the spear in his hand at the flying beast. The flying beast was leaning low to attack Qin Fei, and Sa Lei threw the spear just in time to pierce the back of the flying beast’s neck.

The flying beast hissed in pain and its attack on Qin Fei did not slow down in the slightest, it actually ignored the thrusting spear. Qin Fei was also aroused by his fierceness and gripped his sabre tightly with both hands, avoiding its sharp beak and claws, thrusting it into the flying beast’s bone wings. The beast fluttered its wings, trying to throw Qin Fei off. But Qin Fei held on to the sabre wedged in the bone and would not let go of it, despite the beast’s lunging. The beast was so desperate that it rolled and rushed through the camp with Qin Fei, breaking up several tents. The males, armed with their spears, rushed to the rescue, but as Qin Fei rolled with the beast, he happened to be in some of the beast’s upper body vitals, so they could only desperately attack the beast’s lower body, not the upper body vitals, for fear of hitting Qin Fei.

Qin Fei was dizzy from the fall of the flying beast, but everytime he fell, he became even more fierce and tough. It was also fortunate that Qin Fei was in a position that did not stand out so every time the flying beast fell, it would not hit him. By now, Qin Fei’s eyes were red and he was determined to kill the big guy who was causing trouble to the tribe. With one of the flying beast’s flings, Qin Fei was finally freed, along with his sabre. He took advantage of the flying beast’s struggle to get up and climbed onto its back amidst everyone’s shouts of surprise.

Naturally, the flying beast would not leave him on its back, so there was another flap. Qin Fei grabbed the spear nailed to the back of the beast’s neck with one hand and raised his sabre with the other, thrusting it into the back of the beast’s neck, one after the other, more viciously than the other. Blood flew and Qin Fei was sprayed all over on his face. The flying beast tumbled viciously several times and Sa Lei, who had just come close, was thrown away. Qin Fei, however, clung to the flying beast like a rakshasa evil spirit, slashing into the bone without the slightest hesitation.

The flying beasts that had wanted to come to rescue were blocked by the males with their spears. Influenced by Qin Fei’s violent courage and uprightness, the males also became more and more vicious. The flying beasts’ anger was severely dampened and they only wailed incessantly. The struggle of the flying beast beneath Qin Fei became weaker and weaker, most of its neck was broken by Qin Fei’s knife, as it looked like it was already gagging yet Qin Fei was still poking it with a knife. The fierce expression scared no one who dared to come forward to stop him. Sa Lei was also a bit surprised, but was more worried about Qin Fei’s mad condition. He climbed onto the flying beast’s back and held Qin Fei tightly from behind. When he murmured softly in his ear, Qin Fei’s knife slowly stopped, then his head lolled as he fainted in Sa Lei’s arms.
