Chapter 1: Prologue: Waking Up

Slowly opening my eyes I took in my surroundings.

As I did so I got shocked.

Since I distinctly remember falling asleep in my bed at home last night.

Yet what I am seeing in front of me right now is not my bedroom. Not even close.

What I am looking at right now is a room created entirely from some sort of metal. There are terminals of some kind everywhere. As well as large screens in front of me. The terminal and screens all giving off a faint glow, dimly lighting the room.

"Just what is going on here?" I spoke out loud.

But as I did so I wrapped my arms around myself and started rubbing my body.

Since only now did I just realize its freezing in this place.

Not only that but I am also slightly floating in the air itself as well.

"Again, what the hell?" I questioned.

This doesn't make any sense at all.

I know I fell asleep in my bed last night, and yet somehow I ended up in this strange place.

It doesn't make any sense.

The more I thought about it the more my head began hurting.

I also noticed it is getting colder and colder.

Deciding to put the question of how I ended up here off for later, I turned my attention to my most immediate concern.

Not freezing to death.

Looking around the room for anyway to warm it up I noticed a chair right below me.

Reaching out for it I pulled myself toward it and then sat down as best as I could.

The moment after I did so two holographic panels sprang to life in front of both chair arms. The holographic panel on the left having a question appear on it a second later.

[Do you wish to activate Life Support Systems?]

[Yes/No]

Without any hesitation I pressed the [Yes] option to the question.

The second after I did so I heard a hissing sound in the air.

Then a moment after this took place the temperature suddenly started shooting up, and the room lit up as lights turned on one after the other.

I remained seated in the air during the entire process. Not daring to move, lest I triggered something to stop the life support system from fully activating.

I'm not looking to die after all.

Several minutes passed before the hissing sound finally stopped. When it did so the room felt nice and toasty. 

I breathed a sigh of relief at this.

Since this means I surely avoided death.

"That was a close one." I said.

I then took a few moments to gather myself before I started moving again. Returning to my original question.

Where the hell am I?

I began looking around the room for clues. As I did so I became shocked to my core.

Now the lights are on I recognize the place that I am in.

Which should be impossible.

Why?

Because where I am doesn't exist in real life, but only in a game.

The room I am in right now looks exactly like the bridge of my personal ship, Pleiades. A craft which I made and constructed inside of my favorite MMORPG [Grand Galaxy Online].

[Grand Galaxy Online] an MMORPG based in outer space far in the future. By playing it people can travel across the stars and have chances to try various careers as they do so. Some are mercenaries, while others are smugglers. While some prefer to just be researchers and explorers.

The game offers immense freedom.

One particular feature that gets people hooked is the ability to build and design their very own personal spacecrafts.

Which is one of the reasons I got attracted to [Grand Galaxy Online] in the first place during my first-year of high school.

That and my love of all things sci-fi.

Babylon 5, Star Wars, Stragate, Star Trek, etc..

If it is sci-fi related I am probably into it, or have at least heard of it.

So when such a unique spacefaring game appeared, I was one of the first people to buy and begin playing it.

A choice I didn't regret in the slightest.

Since I had a lot of fun playing the game.

I became a space mercenary and traveled around the universe, doing what I wanted. Having loads of fun.

Accomplishing all of this in my trusted ship, Pleiades.

Which is a frigate-class ship, but Pleiades has the weapons and armaments of a heavy cruiser. Despite this, the ship doesn't lose any of its speed or maneuverability. This allows it to go up against battle cruisers and warships in combat and come out on top.

I really did good work when I designed her.

And since I spent so many hours playing the game I know Pleiades' bridge when I see it and this room I am in is definitely it.

I took a moment to soak this in. Then after I did I pinched myself several times on both arms and even slapped myself across the face. To see if I am dreaming.

But the pain on my arms and on my cheeks tells me I am not.

Somehow after falling asleep last night I ended up on Pleiades' bridge.

To say this is completely insane would be an understatement.

But honestly of all the places I could've ended up this isn't bad.

No, not bad at all.

Since if I am on the bridge of Pleiades it probably means I am on the ship itself.

And that would be super cool.

Putting a soft smile on my face I started fiddling around with the holographic panels on either side of me to try and gain more information on my current situation.

A moment after I did this a giant display suddenly popped up on the screen directly in front of me.

It is an image from outside.

On the screen in front of me is space dotted with thousands of tiny lights.

Looking at this I leaned back in the chair, marveling at its beauty.

I also realized something.

I am in space.

So not only am I on my personally crafted spaceship, but I am also in space.

If this is a dream I don't want to wake up.

Since this right here is probably the best day of my entire life.

I hope I get to explore what I am seeing in front of me.

Since the vast stars out there are definitely calling out my name.

And it is a call I will heed.

Count on it.
