Chapter 6: Chapter 5: The Spoils of War

I trained our weapons on the enemy vessel, just in case they tried to pull anything.

Because you never know.

Once I accomplished this I took a moment to take in the fact that I had just had my very first real-life space battle, and that I won.

I took in the fact I just killed people for the very first time.

Thinking about it I got a bit of a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach and I felt a bit of bile in my throat. But I simple breathed in and out and came to terms with what I had just done.

After all, what happened just now proves this new world is not a kind place.

Even more so than my last one.

I was probably going to have to kill sooner or later. I'm just glad it happened while I had an overwhelming advantage.

Which is not an understatement.

The enemy vessels couldn't hold candle to my Pleiades in any aspect. Maneuverability, hull integrity, and especially not in weapons systems.

Her load out is no joke.

6x Twin Turrets

2x Mass Driver

8x Torpedo Tubes

I don't think I need to say anymore.

Moving on.

Once I took a few moments to calm my nerves I got back to business.

"Riel, scan the enemy vessel." I told her. "Report anything of interest."

"Understood master Wren." Riel said.

She then began the scanning process.

Five minutes passed before she made a report.

"Master Wren I am seeing nothing of value of my scan of the ship. There is nothing in their cargo hold that would be of any use to us. Nor am I detecting any life-signs aboard. Looks like you killed all those pieces of shit when you blew up their bridge and blew holes in the sides of that disgusting vessel." Riel told me.

I simply nodded, ignoring the intensely vulgar language she was using.

Since again I made her personality that way.

Anyone who tries to bring harm to Pleiades and its crew is seen as nothing but garbage in Riel's eyes.

"Ok, now that that's taken care of, Rion you're up." I said.

"Right." Rion said, putting a grin on his face.

After he did so he then started typing so fast my eyes can't keep track of his finger movements.

While he did this immense lines of code and data moved along the screen of his terminal/workstation.

Since at the moment Rion is hacking into the enemies databanks and pulling every scrap of useful information he can from them.

And being an AI his hacking skills are the cream of the crop. So even if those guys were hiding something he'll find it.

I'll bet on that.

Ten minutes passed before Rion spoke up once more.

"It's done." He told us.

"What have you found?" I asked him.

"Quite a bit." Rion said. "Not only did I get the date and time. But I also got a star map as well." He told me.

As he did so a smile came upon my face.

"Good work Rion." I said.

"Thanks captain." He said, giving me a thumbs up.

"No problem." I said.

I then turned my attention to the enemy vessel.

Launching another torpedo I destroyed it completely.

Since I don't want to leave any traces of our battle behind.

Once I accomplish the destruction of the last vessel I engaged the thrusters and had Pleiades leave the area as fast as possible.

Making sure her scanners were at full range as we did so.

Which is 100 kilometers in all directions by the way.

I want to make sure no one else decided to join the party.

After 30 minutes of traveling non-stop I was satisfied we weren't being tracked.

Once I made this decision I dis-engaged thrusters and had Riel real in the range of our scanners.

Then as soon as this was done the three of us moved to the meeting room to go over the data Rion had extracted from the pirate vessel.

Taking my seat at the head of the table I waited for Rion and Riel to take their seats as well before accessing the data Rion gained for us.

First up, being the current date and time.

An extremely important piece of info.

The second after I brought it up I took it in.

[June 12th, 3169. 1:30:08]

So, we're in the same era of the game then.

[Grand Galaxy Online] was a game featured in the far future where humanity had developed the ability to travel amongst the stars. It took place in the late 32 century.

Having left Earth and the Sol system centuries ago, they spread out amongst the cosmos building various spacefaring civilizations.

And even though the location of Earth and the Sol system had been lost centuries before, some things from humanities time on our home planet still persisted even in the future area.

Like the names of the week, the names of the month, and the standard of time.

That was part of the lore of the game, which I am seeing in front of me right now.

"Set all chronometers on the ship using this time and dating system." I instructed the twins.

Chronometers is just a fancy word for clocks by the way for those who don't know.

The twins nodded at my words.

Once they did I set the chronometer in the meeting room to the time in front of us, then I pulled up the next important set of information.

The star map.

Now we have a way to navigate.

As the map came up I studied it.

In doing so I realized I had never heard of any of the places shown on it during my time playing the game.

There were already several established star nations around when I began playing the game, but the ones I am currently observing on the star map in front of me are foreign to me.

Which means that while this world contains aspect of [Grand Galaxy Online] it is also different in several ways as well. Given the evidence that is sitting in front of me.

Well, at least I know this sooner rather than later. Now I won't be shocked in the future.

I just hope too many things aren't different from the game, otherwise I my crew and I might be in trouble.

Anyway from what I can see of the map there are seven major established regions in this world.

Goldstar Consortium.

Rising Sun Empire.

Avalon Empire.

Seven Seas Federation.

Red Star Confederacy.

Union of Free Planets.

Anarchic Zone.

The last of which we are in right now.

Pulling up the data on the Anarchic Zone I found coordinates for a nearby spaceport known as Rockveil.

So we have our next destinatinon.

Rockveil spacesport here we come.
