Chapter 0:

The Defiers

BLESSED BE THE WOMAN WHO PUT ME ON THIS BOAT. I don’t know where the hell I’d be without her intervention. I was told she got me a spot in some sort of expedition into unexplored land and yeah, sure, that sounds exciting and all, but I’m just glad she got me out of the hellhole I was in.

Instead of that horrible place, I’m getting shipped off to a place that no one has ever seen before, supposedly anyways. It might be horrible, but hey, it’s much better than where I was headed.

And there’s a good sense of adventure going around here.

I mean, I doubt anyone aboard this boat thought there were any relevant unexplored places on the planet and much less that we were going to be the ones to check it out.

How long has it been since the last time humans set foot in new land ripe for conquest? Since a river was given name and mountains first looked upon, especially by a man…

Mankind is finally adventuring into new territory! Defying the world yet again! We’re the Defiers of the Untouched Heavens!

    Ah… That sounds horrible, actually.

I closed the journal I had been writing on last night, left my quarters, and started walking the way that would lead to the deck of the ship I was on. Rumbling engines and waves crashing against the steel hull resonated across the halls, it wasn’t exactly a relaxing cacophony, I wouldn’t miss it later today.

Today we’d arrive at the place that’s been the talk of the world for the last few months.

They’ve taken to calling it Nehan, The New Continent.

I finally reached the hatch door, opened it and stepped outside, the morning sun immediately blinding me, the brightness feeling like it could bleach my dark hair to white. I headed towards the bow of the ship, my steps making the wood below creak over and over. Must be a lovely sound to wake up to for anyone below deck.

As I approached the front of the ship, the blindness the sun had inflicted on me started to fade away and I saw, resting upon the railings of the ship, the strongest lady aboard this vessel, who’s nightly, long hair brushed against her sand-colored skin. The wind danced with her hair like it danced with the waves.

She made quite a pretty picture and I found myself incapable of disturbing her. Not like I’d mind staring at her figure upon the dawnlit sky for some time.

And she had a nice butt too.

“Morning, Daßterben.”

Damn, so much for staring at her behind.

“Good morning.” As she turned around, her eyes clad in red laid their sights upon me. It was mildly chilling, if I’m being honest.

“We’re arriving today, aren’t we?”

“So they say… How do you feel about it?”

“I have to admit I’m slightly nervous, I’ll be out of my depth here.” Her voice echoed no concerns about herself.

“I think that applies to all of us here, really.”

“Whilst that is true, my job is to protect you four, so any mistake on my end could be deadly.”

“If you put it like that, I can see why you’d be nervous.”

“Besides, I’m trained to fight against other people, not whatever we might find here.”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know. All sorts of things have been found when women have explored new corners of the world.”

“And… Most accountings have been proven pretty exaggerated, haven’t they?”

She kept silent for a few moments, her gaze no longer on me.

“...Yeah… But still, I don’t know. It’s unnerving having to protect people outside my area of expertise, you know? I’m used to fighting indoors and in cities, not on the outside.”

“Personally I find it exciting, really.”

“The spirit of adventure and all?”

“Yeah! Isn’t it great we get to see so many new places?”

“I mean, I suppose. Must be particularly exciting for a man too, huh.”

I tilted my head to the side in confusion.

“You guys don’t get to do that much risky stuff nowadays, with the whole global situation.”

“Ah… Yeah… You’d be right on that.”

“But as for me, I’d rather sit tight inside some city and watch over a politician or something like that.”

“Ain’t that a little boring?”

“Now, that’s just rude.”

“... Right, my bad.”

I still think that’d be boring for you though.

“...But perhaps it is boring, and I don’t particularly mind that. Boring usually also means safe.”

Fair enough really.

“At the very least, you’ll get stories you can tell to people back home.”

“I don’t really have folks waiting for me…” Her voice immediately turned melancholic.

“Really? No family or something?”

“Nope.”

“Old friends?”

“...Nope…”

Whoops, I might’ve messed with a nerve I shouldn’t have.

“Then maybe for your children in the future?”

She scoffed at my remark. “Me? Children? I don’t have or wanna have those.”

I can change that.

Not like I would, though.

I’m just saying I wouldn’t stop anything that might happen between a man and a woman alone in unexplored territory.

She probably would, but it is what it is.

“Is there anything you’re looking forward to from this trip at all?”

“Not particularly.”

“That’s a shame.”

“I don’t think so. Sure, it might be boring, but it’ll let me focus on my job better. And, trust me, you want me to focus on my job.”

Silence rested itself upon the bow of the ship we rode. I tried to convince her this was an exciting endeavor, but really, she just refuses to see this as a big opportunity no matter what I do.

It’s a shame.

“How about we focus on some food instead? Breakfast should be ready.”

After I spoke those words, silence yet again embraced us for a few moments.

“...Sure, I’m starting to get hungry.”

Thus, the lady walked past me and headed towards the superstructure of the ship.

I followed not far behind her.

She really makes for a spectacular picture. Although those baggy clothes she’s wearing don’t do a spectacular job of emphasizing it, she has slim, silky curves running along her tall body, and she has absolutely beautiful legs too. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how much of a shame it is that I’ve met her in these circumstances, where she has to wear somewhat baggy clothes.

Or perhaps she would’ve worn baggy clothes anyways.

“Can you stop staring at me?”

Yet again, I’ve been caught.

“Hm? I’m not doing such a thing.”

“I can almost feel your eyes on my ass.”

“Not their fault, honestly.”

“It would be nice if you stopped staring.”

“With all due respect, I simply beg to differ.”

From across her face, I could witness the lightest blush.

Aw, she’s a really tough nut to crack and I honestly doubt I’ll ever manage, but she can be really adorable sometimes.

I quickly caught up to her and placed my hand on her back.

“Come, don’t worry about me staring and let’s get ourselves a good breakfast to start the day with.”

“R-Right.”

Hold on, I’m just gonna…

I gently let my hand slide down her back and towards her buttcheeks, cupping a good feel of them.

“Hee…!”

Yeah, see? This is what I’m talking about. These are great. Firm and strong, yet still so-

She thrust her elbow into my stomach and pushed me onto the floor.

Ouch.

That hurts.

Don’t do that, please.

“Don’t do that again, or I’ll shoot you in the crotch.”

Alright alright, that’s enough of that, I guess.

“You make a respectable argument.” I said, between heavy breaths.

The tall woman stopped for a moment to fix her clothes from the fondling I had done.

“Honestly, what’s with you…?”

Despite the words that left her lips, she didn’t look particularly upset. In fact… Is that the tiniest glimpse of a smile on her face?

Dear me, oh Yshtar, what a rascal you are!

…Please don’t elbow me like that again, though.

…Her smile quickly faded, as if she saw right through my thoughts. She scoffed at me as she walked away.

I slowly got up off of the ground and followed her into the dining hall of the ship. Aside from the cooks themselves scrambling to prepare meals for the entirety of the crew, there were only four folks in the hall, including Yshtar and myself. Both the others were sitting at a table amidst the hall, eating their breakfast and idly chatting. Before heading over to their table, Yshtar and I picked up our breakfasts.

The two women eating were, as was apparently common for women I’d work with from here on out, absolutely beautiful as well. Honestly, what is with this? My protector got me in this boat, with a team full of stunning women, sent out to a land of adventure. Is this what they call a miracle? How blessed can a man be?

First off, the woman eating on the left side of the table. It is, and I must emphasize this, it is of absolutely crucial importance to note that she did in fact not have the vest she usually wears on her at this specific moment in time, given that she was eating of course.

So what does this leave us with?

Why is this so crucial?

It is simply because the lady in particular had massive tits. Big breasts, as some others would say. And I apologize, but my eyes were immediately drawn to them in this situation, since it wasn’t common that I’d get to see them in a state closer to their true glory.

Cursed be these clothes.

That said, unlike my friend Yshtar here, she did at least have mercy on me by wearing tight blue jeans, which emphasized her beautiful legs and wide hips. Something much more similar to what you’d find in the cities I hail from, which was something I could be very thankful for.

The woman had long, odd gray hair as well, which was tied in a long ponytail that went down to her lower back and dark brown eyes, both of which, combined with her green shirt and mildly dark skin, seemed to reflect the image of a snowed mountain.

She was quite pretty, actually.

I only cared about other mountains, though.

“Are you just gonna stand there staring?” Called out the gray-haired lady.

Dammit, busted again.

I’m sloppy today, aren’t I?

Maybe I am slightly nervous after all.

The woman picked up the baseball cap she had placed in the seat right beside her and placed it on her lap.

“Take a seat with us, Daßterben.” Her voice echoed lovingly across the hall.

Wait, why just me? You should offer a seat to Yshtar too-

Before I had even realized, Yshtar had already taken a seat across from where I’d sit.

Oh, ok then.

“Excuse me.” I said, as I sat down.

“Please.”

“What are you having today?”

“Same as you.”

I took a look at my meal and…

Yeah ok, I know it’s rude to insult food that has been prepared for you…

BUT-

Fucking hell man how do you even call this food? Yes yes, I know you’re having the same as me, but what am I having then? I’ve seen my fair share of shit throughout the years naturally, but the food on this boat is just a whole damn new level.

“Which is…?”

“...It isn’t that bad, come on.”

“I never said that.”

“The look in your eyes tells me you’re thinking it.”

“I would never think of such a rude thing.”

“Oh really?”

“You know me, Kailasha, there simply isn’t a gentleman as well mannered as myself on this boat.

“Mmmm… Right.” The gray haired woman took a bite from her food before continuing her thought.

How do you even eat that with such ease…?

“A very gentlemanly thing you just did to Y- Yshtar, isn’t it?”

“I’d do it to you too, if you wanted me to.”

“You’d do it whether I wanted you to or not.”

“Perhaps it is so.”

“It is definitely so.”

Yshtar intervened in our conversation. “Maybe we should kick him.”

“From the expedition? You know we can’t do that.”

“Nah, but we can literally kick him.”

I don’t like where this conversation is going, ladies.

“Ah, you’d be right on that one.”

“They can’t do anything to us for doing that to him, can they?”

“I don’t believe so. It’s an amazing thing to have been handpicked by the government.” Spoke Kailasha as she took yet another bite of her food.

“It’s great, isn’t it? Can’t wait to pop his nuts like they’re balloons.”

Woah, woah, woah! Come on, Yshtar! All I’ve done is feel you up a couple times, this is a bit of an extreme response, isn’t it?!

“Sounds like great fun, I’m looking forward to it.”

I’m definitely not!

Yshtar made a pop! sound with her mouth. “Do you think they’ll sound like that too?”

The two ladies conversing then giggled to each other, not like I could say I did too.

Honestly, what a grotesque sense of humor…

The last person on the table, who sat beside Yshtar with her deadly beautiful light green eyes, looked at me with a sort of confused pity that a person like me wouldn’t really get at all, under any circumstances.

Not like that wasn’t my fault, though.

She pushed her light brown hair behind her ear colored in light skin. Beautiful, silky hair which she kept in two cute buns and from which a lock ran down to her lower back from each. And to decorate it, she had a flower atop her head.

“Can we not do this whilst we’re eating?” Spoke she of rose decor.

Yes, thank you!

“Don’t you wanna kick him too?” Answered Yshtar.

“I didn’t say that. I would simply appreciate being able to eat in peace.”

…Come on.

“Right, I’m sorry for disturbing your meal, care to beat him up later, Minera?”

“But of course.”

Do I deserve this? I mean, sure I did cup a feel of your breasts the other day, but it ain’t my fault that you wear that cute ass teal blouse! You’re the one with the cutest clothes here, the ones that really remind me of girls back home.

Although yeah, sure, ok, it was still uncalled for, but you’d get it, right?

And then on top of the blouse and the dark hoodie, you have those cute ass shorts and thigh highs, come on!

Listen, you’re going on a boat with a man and whilst everyone else is wearing pretty baggy clothes, you pull up here on those that really make me look at your curves, but when I do, in fact, look at your curves, you bash me?! Incredible! And believe me, there were in fact plenty of curves to look at, perhaps not as much as Kailasha, but nonetheless.

Although I did do a little bit more than looking.

Sigh… Perhaps I really should’ve gone to that hellhole.

“We don’t gotta do this. Come on, y’all know I’m sorry.” I fumbled some words together to see if it’d get me out of the current situation.

“No, you aren’t.” Said Yshtar.

“Honesty is an important value, Daßterben.” Replied Kailasha.

“If you lie, we’ll beat you up harder.” Mumbled Minera.

Well, I tried.

Minera took another bite out of her food before continuing the conversation.

“Mmm… You know what we could try?”

“What?” Said the woman of gray hair.

“We can probably find something in Nehan to beat him up with, maybe? Think about it- New, unexplored territory- we’re bound to find something.

Are we really going to keep going?

“Oh, you’re right!”

“Like some poisonous plant or whatever.”

“Or a very sharp rock.”

“Sure, that can do too.”

“So many possibilities.”

“I hope we find something to cut off his balls with.”

“They’re doing him more harm than good.”

Are they…?

“I agree, we’d be doing him a favor.”

Would you?!

As the eyes of hungry predators laid their sights upon me and my jewels, ready to take it all away from me, someone, who can only be described as a ray of sunshine, her hair like that of an angel and decorated upon with twin braids and a black hat, walked into the room. The lady’s eyes hidden behind glasses and colored like the sky, her skin a beautiful white.

She had petite proportions, but still she looked soft and squishy, seemingly angelic. A red earring decorating her left ear and a green one on her right. With a simple look at her, your mood changed. She was the type of person who could lighten up the room with her sheer presence. She was a blessing.

Hurrah! My savior is here!

“Hey!” She spoke eagerly as she walked to my side.

“Good morning, Brigid.” Replied Minera.

“Brigid!” I exclaimed. “They’re talking about doing horrible things to me!”

The blonde girl tilted her head to the side in question. “Hmm? Like what?”

“It’s horrible!” I placed the backside of my hand in my forehead and closed my eyes. “Like chopping off my family jewels and poisoning me! Oh, the horror…!”

Surprisingly enough, Brigid gasped and covered her mouth with one hand.

“Why would they do that?!”

I wrapped my arm around Brigid’s waist and pulled her down into my lap and embraced her as she gasped yet again.

“I don’t know! I truly do not know!”

Brigid placed her hand on my head and started petting and caressing my hair.

“There, there. I’m sure they didn’t mean it.”

Ah, she really is an angel.

As I ran one hand up from her leggings and white shorts and another one through the back of her brown coat-

Yshtar spoke up.

“No, we definitely meant it.”

And so did Kailasha.

“Certainly.”

…And Minera.

“Without a shadow of a doubt.”

I nuzzled up against Brigid’s hair right before she answered.

“Hm? Now, why’s that? He hasn’t done anything harmful to all of you, has he?”

I would never!

Once again, Yshtar spoke.

“He groped my ass.”

Followed by Kailasha.

“He peaked whilst I was bathing.”

…And also Minera.

“He felt up my breasts. Even now, he’s feeling you up, Brigid.”

“Lies and slander!” I said as my hand inched ever closer to her butt.

Horrible accusations!

Immediately after she felt my hand go down, she stood up and looked at me. Her gaze was not of anger, but simply confusion.

“If that’s all true, then I’ll sit with Yshtar and Minera.”

And thus she left my lap and my side.

It’s over, it’s all over…

“Although, I still don’t think he’s that bad.” She said as she laid her hat on the table.

“But he is.” Said Yshtar.

“I mean, at least not all the time…?” And now Brigid was eating for Yshtar’s plate.

The three other women replied in unison.

“But he is.”

“Maybe because you all are so pretty!”

The three other women blushed simultaneously.

Hey! They wouldn’t blush like that when I call them pretty!

Perhaps it is simply the angel factor at work here…

This isn’t fair, Brigid! You can’t hog them all for yourself!

Yshtar was the first one to come back to her senses.

“I mean, if you put it like that… But no, wait, that’s not the issue here!”

“I think you should just let him be and smack him when he goes over line.”Brigid crossed her arms, absolutely confident in the righteousness of her answer.

“That’s… Exactly what we’re doing.”

“Great! That should work out.”

Brigid picked food from every single one of our plates.

No one seemed to mind, at least I certainly didn’t.

I can’t believe this, my last hope has joined them, just like that, in the blink of an eye. Good thing we’ll have time to settle this down when we disembark.

Oh yeah, plenty of time…

After breakfast, we were informed that we’d be arriving at Nehan within the next hour and thus we should prepare for disembarking immediately. Preparations were smooth, I got in my boots and khakis, with a brown short sleeve shirt and an open vest on top.

Plus gloves.

Never forget the gloves.

I left my room and packed my backpack, journal inside of it, aside from other valuable assets. It was of quite considerable size, but hey, we’d be needing plenty of stuff out there. No reason to hold back.

This is it, huh…

I bid farewell to the room which housed me for the last week and closed the door. Proceeding then to walk up to the deck and meet the rest of the team.

Yshtar dressed as she had earlier, adding also a camouflage coat and a tactical belt. She had also put on her gray helmet, which had a white eight pointed star to the side. On her back she carried an assortment of weapons, including a rifle and other guns.

Kailasha had gotten her vest on, as well as her cap decorated with a crescent moon and had easily the biggest backpack out of all of us.

Minera looked the exact same really. It’s almost like she just picked up the backpack and got ready to go.

Lastly, Brigid was hopping around and humming in excitement. Like Minera, it’s almost like she had been ready to go since the moment she woke up.

And now we were all ready to disembark.

I walked up beside Yshtar.

“I’m not looking forward to spending however long we’re staying here with you.”

“That’s just uncalled for.”

“Is it?”

“I’d say so.”

“However, given that I’m left with no other choice, I look forward to watching over you.”

What…?

“Huh?”

“Don’t think too much about it, Daßterben.”

Minera interjected.

“Oh, I think he’ll think plenty of it.”

“Hm?” Muttered Yshtar.

“At night, when we’re all asleep and he’s alone.”

“He’ll never get to sleep, then.”

“I can make sure he never does.” Added Kailasha.

“Aren’t you all being too harsh with him?” Asked Brigid, yet again tilting her head.

My guardian angel…!

“Nope.” Said all three in unison.

I sure hope this Nehan place softens them up a little bit. I’d rather not spend so much time with them if they’re going to be like this all the time.

Then again, it is my fault, isn’t it?

Oh well.

Shortly thereafter, Yshtar raised her voice. “Alright, let’s do an equipment checkup real quick before we get on the motorboat.”

    “Sounds good!” Echoed Brigid’s voice.

    Followed by Minera’s. “Sure.”

Then Yshtar took the lead again. “Alright, let’s see…” She pulled a small notebook from one of the pockets on her belt. “First off, Kailasha, your picks, your tools, the shovel, and the lens?”

Kailasha simply nodded.

“What about the cartography stuff?”

Yet again, Kailasha simply nodded.

Whilst Kailasha nodded, Yshtar checked several boxes on her notebook. “Alright, you’re good. Now you, Brigid-”

“Yes!” Exclaimed the blonde as she jumped in excitement, grin going from ear to ear.

She can be like an innocent child sometimes…

A smile gently spread across Yshtar’s face, a rare sight this last week aboard the ship.

I think it’s a good thing she’s like that, though. Especially if it’ll make the others smile like that.

“Alright, you’ve got your first aid kits?” Continued Yshtar.

Followed by an immediate answer from Brigid. “Yep!”

“The bandages?”

“Yeeeep!”

“And the meds?”

“Mhm!” Brigid quickly nodded three times.

“Sounds good then.” Yshtar yet again, crossed boxes as Brigid answered. “You, Daßterben. Got everything you need?”

I answered without delay. “That’d be correct.”

“Great, Minera?” Yet again, boxes were checked. Although something tells me they were checked with a lot less enthusiasm than the previous ones.

She doesn’t really care about me, does she…?

That makes me slightly sad.

The green eyed lady, whom Yshtar had asked,  answered immediately as she looked over her backpack. “I have the heaters, the scalpel and other sharp tools… And also the masks.”

“What about the containers?”

“Got those too.”

“Alright…” And the boxes were checked. “Oh, by the way, Daßterben, got the food and hunting stuff?”

“Of course I do.” I replied

She didn’t even bother answering me as another box was checked.

“As for me… I have my rifle, my handgun, my machete…” Yshtar mumbled to herself for a few moments before finally declaring: “Alright, we’re good to go as far as equipment goes. So we’re all clear on the mission, right? Go in, see if it’s habitable, pick up any neat things, yadayada, get out, right?”

The rest of the team nodded in agreement.

Yshtar sighed. “A lot of stars had to align for us to meet here and go on this expedition. Let’s make it worth it.”

Brigid, who was standing besides Yshtar, wrapped her arms around her and gave her a tight hug. “We will!”

A soft smile spread across the lady’s face yet again.

And so we climbed down the side of the ship, got in a motorboat, and sailed to the sandy beaches of the Nehan. That land that appeared as if fallen from the sky, that now stood upon us with the lushest jungles and the most beautiful beaches I had ever laid my eyes upon, mountains shielding the horizon sky from us and whatever laid beyond it.

Alas, we had arrived.
