Chapter 20: Chapter 19

“One shrimp Po-Boy, a steak Po-Boy and two servings of Beignets,” Adrian ordered, paid and went to the table where Niam and Halo were sitting.

Niam looked at Adrian who sat down and said, “So, we mapped shit out and after we eat, we’re going shopping, we may have had a late start but Rome and the others are only coming here in about five hours, we have enough time to pick out your clothes.”

Adrian nodded his head and took in a deep breath. “Sure.”

Halo stuffed a cookie into his mouth as he eyed Adrian. Swallowing, he asked, “So, how are things at home?”

Just thinking of home made Adrian sigh. He looked at Halo as Niam placed his phone down and said, “I came out to my dad and told him about Mason, too. He isn’t fully convinced that Mason and I could have a thing, AND after I apologised to him and his boyfriend, I explained what had been going on with me. He felt shit about it all and started blaming himself for me developing an unpleasant personality.”

“At least it’s out in the open now,” Halo said as he rubbed Adrian’s shoulder.

Adrian choked up slightly and shook his head. “Yes, but my mother didn’t take the news too lightly. She reacted the way I expected, and I was kicked out. Now my dad is fighting for custody.”

Niam and Halo looked at Adrian stunned and couldn’t believe it, but that’s what happens. Some are lucky to have supportive parents. Adrian has one half supporting him, with the other half dragging him down.

Their order arrived, along with a handsome dude who was checking Niam out. Adrian asked, “Is that all?”

The man looked around awkwardly. “Uh, yo, can I get your number?”

Niam was utterly confused. “Mine?”

“Yes you,” he said.

Niam looked over at Halo for help, but the bitch was already sipping on his drink, minding his own business. He looked at Adrian and this bitch was clearly too familiar with their group.

Niam took in a deep breath and said, “Fine, hand me your phone.”

He quickly did that while looking around, making sure his boss wasn’t around to see this and heard, “So, what is your name?”

“LiAngelo Green,” he answered as he took his phone back.

“I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you,” Niam said with a smile.

LiAngelo winked at him and turned around. Just as he made his way to the counter, someone yelled, “Ey yo Gelo!”

“Anyway, that was weird,” Niam said after LiAngelo left.

“How was that weird? You are beautiful and any guy would be lucky to have you,” Adrian said honestly.

Niam smiled, slightly embarrassed, “Yes, and unlike your dad, I think you and Mason are cute together.”

“Thank you,” Adrian mumbled as he blushed.

“Let’s eat and get our day started,” Halo groaned as he went ham on the shrimp Po-Boy.

“I can’t wear this!” Adrian screeched as he looked at himself in the mirror. He was in the dressing room at Lova wearing a black jegging and a white crop top picked out by Niam.

Niam rolled his eyes. Halo was out picking shoes for himself, leaving Niam to do all the work styling Adrian, and he did not mind it at all. He was the one who styled Halo’s ass, which Romeo had yet to give thanks to.

Niam stepped behind the curtain in the changing room and looked at Adrian, who was rubbing down the crop top, looking all uncomfortable. Niam narrowed his eyes on Adrian’s abs and said, “Boy, you are overreacting and I know those damn abs and muscles you have ain’t to show that you are strong.”

Adrian turned around and glared at Niam. “For your information, I work out because I want to be fit and I am on the track team!”

“Yes, now enough of your tantrum. This fits you well, so try the next outfit on, its shorts and a long-sleeved top,” Niam said as he stepped out and grabbed the next outfit off the couch.

Halo came from around the corner with a smile on his face, followed by Romeo, Mason and Cordell.

Niam smiled at Cordell and the others as Halo asked, “So, how is he doing?”

“About to flip a switch,” Niam winked at him.

The guys sat down on the couches and pulled out their phones. Shopping for clothes was not their thing, but Romeo, on the other hand, disappeared after a moment to look for couples’ clothing.

Adrian stepped out of the dressing room with his hands in the pockets and said, “Okay Niam, I think this is better, but the shorts are eating my ass.”

Niam looked at him mischievously and stated, “It’s supposed to, and you need to wear a thong with it.”

Mason, Cordell and Halo looked over at Adrian, who was looking at the ground and checking himself out.

Mason licked his lips. He rushed up to Adrian and hugged him. Adrian’s eyes widened in embarrassment and hid his face in Mason’s chest, who was grabbing at his ass, “Oh, I like this one, but you are only wearing this when you are alone with me.”

“We still need to measure your body through the thong. I ordered the tryout bundle. It should be here around Tuesday,” Halo said.

Adrian planted his face into his hands, thinking, ‘Why the hell are they here so soon?’

Halo found Romeo in the hoody section. He wrapped his arms around Romeo’s waist and asked, “Why are you doing shopping?”

Romeo smiled and looked down at the basket filled with clothes. He turned around in Halo’s hug and said, “I just remembered, I don’t know your size, so I just eyeballed the measurements.”

Halo raised a brow, confused, then let go of Romeo and reached down into the basket. He looked through the clothes and smirked. He found it sweet how Romeo got matching clothes for them.

He checked the sizes, then tried one shirt on and looked up at Romeo. 

Romeo bit his lip as he checked his boy out and nodded his head. “Should I get a smaller size, or are you good?”

Halo shrugged as he took it off. “Depends on how my man wants me to look.”

Romeo smirked, he leaned down, popped a kiss on Halo’s lip and hugged him, “I love that so much.”

Halo wrapped his arms around Romeo with a smile on his face. “Yeah, I love the sound too, Romeo.”

Romeo kissed him on the forehead and admitted, “I’m in love with you, Kitten.”

“I noticed,” Halo said with a roll of his eyes.

Romeo flicked him on the nose and said, “Don’t roll your eyes at your man.”

Halo let go of Romeo and pulled out the matching tracksuits and asked, “So we wearing this on Monday?”

The Romeo and Kitten couple arrived at Romeo’s house. Today was going to be Halo’s first time meeting the Washington family.

Halo stood nervously at the door while Romeo laughed his head off.

Romeo opened the door, and they both heard Romeo’s mother screaming at their dog. Romeo dragged Halo into the house where they saw the Rottweiler eating a loaf of bread on the floor.

“Ayo Destin!” Romeo yelled, frightening the dog and his mother.

Amanda held her chest as she looked at her son and the short boy beside him and said, “Romeo Creed Washington, what did I tell you about sneaking into the house and yelling like that?”

Romeo rolled his eyes. “I can’t help it, you didn’t hear me.” Romeo turned to Halo and placed his arm around Halo’s neck and said, “Halo, this is my mom, Amanda. Mama, this is Halo.”

Amanda’s eyes widened. She gave Halo a good look over that made him feel uncomfortable and said, “So this is the boy you’ve been raving about? Oh, did you bring a cake? Your father-in-law loved the cakes Romeo brought home.”

Halo stared at this woman in disbelief and slowly nod his head. “I started making one. He’ll bring it home once he drops me at my place.”

Amanda walked over to Halo and hugged him. “And you, my dear boy, can call me mama too.”

“Your mother just accepts you and everything else?” Halo asked, confused as he sat down on Romeo’s bed and looked around. Today was his first time being here, and the room smelled just like Romeo does.

Romeo placed all the bags down on the floor. He looked over at Halo as he pulled his shirt off and nodded, “Yeah, well, mother doesn’t say too much about me or really objects. Things have been different here since the deaths of my dads. My stepfather is her happiness now, while she just tries to please me. I do everything I can to love her back, but knowing what I know, it’s hard for me to smile. That was until I met you.”

Halo nodded his head, unsure. Romeo turned around and Halo saw the tattoo on Romeo’s right shoulder blade that was a gun with ‘Ruthless’ written on it and raised a brow. It had been bothering him this entire time since Julio called him that.

Romeo took off his pants and Halo noticed a cut down the back of his left thigh and it looked pretty recent. Romeo slipped on some shorts then turned to Halo and saw that he looked confused — he knew Halo was not an idiot.

He picked up the bags and walked over to Halo. He unpacked everything and said, “Time for you to try your clothes on and decided when we are wearing them.”

Before Halo tried the clothes on, he looked at Romeo and said, “I know it’s selfish of me to ask you to date me in public, but are you okay with it?”

Romeo shook his head, “I’ve thought about it and I want you to be happy. I want us to be happy.”

Halo smiled up at him and wrapped his arms around him. Romeo leaned down and kissed him on the lips.

Smiling at him, Halo then looked at the clothes. He pulled the boxes of shoes out and asked, “Why do we also have matching shoes?”

Romeo reached under the bed and pulled out a shoebox as he answered, “Because I want to.”

Halo sighed with a shake of his head and sorted everything out. After a moment he looked at the clothes on the bed and said, “Okay so, here are ten outfits, we can wear one on Monday and another on Friday. What do you think about matching on those two days, then have our lunch dates on Wednesdays?”

“Whatever you want, Kitten, now open this box,” Romeo said.

Halo took the box from him with a curious look on his face and opened it. Halo’s eyes widened and excitement bubbled in his chest and on his face.

He pulled out five jewellery boxes and opened them all. One had a choker with the name ‘Kitten’ on it. The second box had ‘Romeo’ written on it on a bracelet.

The third box had a three-piece necklace in it with ‘Romeo’ hanging off of the chain.

The fourth box was circular and had a couple’s ring in it. 

Halo looked up at Romeo in shock and asked, “The rings?”

“I am your husband, am I not?” Romeo asked, with a sly smirk on his face.

Halo nodded his head, embarrassed, and handed the bigger ring to Romeo. Romeo smiled down at him and held his hand out.

Halo slipped it on his left ring finger nervously and felt like crying. Once the ring was on his finger, Romeo held his hand out and looked at it. The rings were normal silver rings that he got, the other gifts were expensive and the meaning behind the rings meant more.

He looked down at Halo and grabbed the box. He slipped the ring onto Halo’s ring finger, then wiped his tears away and said, “Kitten, these are just promise rings, cry when it’s our wedding day.”

Halo didn’t respond and only smiled. He looked down at the fifth box that was flatter and wider. He opened it and saw a body chain in it.

He closed the boxes and looked up at Romeo and said, “All of this is too much. The ring was enough, Romeo.”

Romeo nodded his head. “I know, but I want to spend my money on the one I want.”

Halo smiled weakly and stood up. He climbed on Romeo and wrapped his arms around his neck and said as he looked into his eyes, “I want to have sex.”
