Chapter 49: Chapter 48

Halo dropped Romeo off at the clinic where the doctors would take care of the injuries he caused.

He drove all the way to Niam’s place and it was getting late. When he arrived outside the house, he heard music playing and saw two cars outside that he recognised, maybe Niam was doing nails again.

He walked up to the front of the house and knocked a couple of times but no one answered. He went around the back and as he walked through the side gate, he saw Detective Rowan sitting on the edge of the swimming pool dipping Nylah’s feet in the water.

Romeo already told him that this man was around Niam and just imagine what he would do if he found out that Halo was the one who killed his partner.

He rushed up to him asking, “What the fuck are you doing here? Give me my child!”

He took Nylah away from him forcefully then rushed inside the house.

Anthony was surprised to see Halo here. He climbed out of the water and followed Halo into the house.

“NIAM WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS MAN DOING HERE?!” Halo yelled then started kissing Nylah, “Oooo, I missed you baby girl, where's you crazy mama?”

Niam came rushing over to the kitchen when he heard Halo’s voice and squealed. Halo squealed too, then they hugged each other and started jumping up and down. They both started tearing up.

“I missed you so much bitch,” Halo cried.

“I missed you more,” Niam cried louder. Nylah started crying to, she didn’t like that they were crying with her in the middle.

Anthony pulled them apart and said, “You’re upsetting her.”

Halo forgot he was here and wiped his tears. He turned to Niam and asked, “Why is his black ass here?”

Niam sighed. He wrapped his arm around Anthony’s and said, “He is the one I told you about.”

Halo looked between them then frowned and ran his hand through his hair, “Well I hope you’re using protection because that looks like a baby bump.”

Niam felt like crap hearing his words. He sighed and said to Anthony, “Let me explain things to him.”

He turned to Halo after Anthony left and said, “I’m almost done with my clients. Wait for me in the living room or you can go outside and get to know him.”

Halo nodded and went outside. He looked at Anthony who was back in the pool and walked over. He sat down crossed legged while he glared at him and asked, “What are you trying to do by getting in his pants.”

Anthony looked at him and said, “I get the impression that you don’t like me.”

“I don’t,” Halo answered him.

Anthony scoffed. He walked over to Halo handing Nylah to him and asked, “Why? It’s not like you and that boy are together anymore.”

“Does being with him give me reason to not like you? You have him pinned against the ground in front of the entire school then still had the audacity to ask me if I had a reason to kill Nicola,” Halo said.

Anthony smirked, “You must really like him then. So why did you leave your husband?”

“Wow, you even know about that,” Halo scoffed.

Anthony went to sit by the pool steps and looked at Halo, “Of course, I’m determined to put him in jail.”

Halo shook his head, “You’re as fucked up as he is.”

Things went quiet between them. Halo looked at Anthony and Anthony’s eyes were skimming all over his body. Looking at his thighs, legs and neck. He rubbed his crotch then looked away pretending that he wasn’t turned on by Halo.

Niam came out some time later and called Halo inside while Anthony retreated to his mothers house.

“So what is the deal?” Halo asked him.

Niam was cradling Nylah as she fell asleep and said, “It was pure coincidence believe me. His mother made a cake for us and he brought it over.”

“So you didn’t know he was living next door all these years?” He questioned.

Niam shook his head, “No, he’s far older than us and he wasn’t living here when we moved in. He was living with his wife but they’re divorced and he was forced to take paid leave from work because he is addicted to getting Romeo put behind bars and he didn’t even mourn for his partner because of it.”

“So you let him dick you down just because?” Halo asked.

Niam glared at him and said, “Halo, you know I’m not a whore. Why are you saying it like that?”

Halo sat up asking, “So why are you pregnant with his child and why did you keep this a secret from me?”

“Because I knew you would react like this. Halo, really, there were no strings attached and we couldn’t help that the condom broke. I finally felt that someone wanted to be with me not because I can give birth to his child but because he wanted to be with me sexually,” he said.

“Are you even listening to what you are saying? Or is he manipulating you?” Halo asked.

Niam stood up and took Nylah to the room. He returned and said, “Halo listen. I know I’ve fucked up so many time in the past but this isn’t it. I was after Justin for a long time because I was having his child and finally when Anthony walked into my life, I stopped being so negative. We agreed that it would just be him and me and nothing else. I didn’t want him around Nylah and he didn’t want to play step daddy and I was fine with that but I’m pregnant now and I can’t go for an abortion. If you are worried that he is still going after Romeo then that is on you because we never once discussed him when we were together.”

Halo didn’t want to believe that Anthony could just let it go. Pretending to not give a damn he said, “You know that I want what’s best for you. What if he dies, what then?”

Niam walked over to him and hugged Halo, “Then I’ll rely on you to help me raise my children.”

Halo groaned, “Well whatever, as long as you are happy.”

Niam nodded his head and smirked, “But Justin isn’t, I actually think he wants to work thighs out with me and when he saw the baby bump, he was angry and didn’t speak to me.”

“Well, it is his loss, you tried,” Halo said, hugging him.

Anthony walked in and saw them hugging, “Is it safe to come in now?”

Niam looked at him and nodded his head, “Yes but he bites so don’t try anything funny.”

Anthony chuckled and said, “I’m hungry, is she sleeping?”

“She is. I’ll make something for us to eat or do you want to cook Halo?” He asked with a smirk.

Halo rolled his eyes, “I’ll help you.”
