After everyone left, only Mikael remained. He wanted to talk to me, but we were both silent. I didn't think it would be so hard for us to say a word to each other when we were alone.

"We will punish Louise for your poisoning. Mikael sighed. "It won't be serious, because she is the daughter of an empress, and her health is poor."

"I didn't doubt it."

"Sorry."

"You have nothing to apologise to me for." I smiled at him.

"It's hard for me to find the right words right now. I know that you overheard our conversation with Keane, and I apologise for my words."

"It was very tactless of me to eavesdrop on your conversation. So I'm not mad at you."

"Why do you refuse to be my bride?"

"I have already told Keane about this, and I will say the same to you. Marriage with a person whom I do not love is impossible for me."

"Are you serious?" He chuckled.

"Yes. I'm not interested in power or anything else."

"You have absolutely no ambition."

"You are right. But for me, only the person is important, and not his status or what I will receive from him in return."

"I don't understand your words. Isn't it stupid to think so?"

"Maybe."

"My father turned his back on my mother for the crown. Mother was a commoner, and it was hard for her in the palace. She wanted a quiet life, but my father betrayed her." Mikael sighed. "I won't repeat that mistake."

He got up from the bed, came closer to me, put his hand on my cheek, and left the room.

Everything happened as he said. Mikael did not punish the princess, but only her maid. The duke was furious with the emperor. I looked at the tea in my cup. I would never have thought that they would want to poison me. Even though it was a sleeping pill, it didn't make me feel any better. I didn't understand what I could do to them.

"What did you find so interesting in the cup?" Aiden sighed noisily next to me.

"Just thinking."

"Won't you share?"

"Thoughts or tea?"

"I will accept whatever you offer me." The guy smiled.

"Are you kidding again?" I smiled back at him.

"Don't ruin other people's appetites." Mikael frowned.

"Your highness, is the empire so impoverished that you decided to dine at the duke's estate?" After Aiden's words, Keane laughed.

"I don't understand how you haven't been sent to the next world for your bad temper yet."

"You came here to fight?" I frowned.

The three of them came together two days later to visit me. Aiden and Mikael were constantly quarrelling, and Kane did nothing but laugh at them. Alex also sat with us, but he was constantly silent.

"Of course not. I'm only here for you." Aiden defiantly put his hand to his chest.

"I see. Why did you come by carriage and not by magic?"

"I was in the city, and these two were passing by. I offered them to get there faster, but they refused."

"Someone like you cannot be trusted." The prince frowned.

"You offend me." The mage shook his head.

"I told you that when you communicate, sparks fly." Keane laughed softly again.

"Why don't you eat anything?" Aiden looked at my plate.

"I don't want to." After the poisoning, I began to feel constant weakness in the body, and my appetite became worse.

"Did you take any medicine?"

"Yes."

"Women are such jealous creatures. To poison another girl just because she couldn't win favours herself..." Aiden chuckled. "Princess Louise is simply amazing. She is not afraid of anything since she decided to do this in front of everyone.”

“What are you suggesting?” Mikael frowned.

"Aiden, please.” I took the magician by the hand.

“She wanted to play a prank on Ariana when she fell asleep at the table.” Keane frowned. “But her joke could end Ariana's life.”

“And she went unpunished.” The magician looked at Mikael. “If it was the princess who decided to kill Ariana and she succeeded, then she herself would not have lived long.”

After my words, they all stared at me like I was a monkey in a zoo.

"Did you seriously take her to the brothel with you?" Keane looked at Aiden in surprise.

"She herself asked and threatened that she would go there herself if I did not take her."

"For some reason, even I don't doubt your words." The prince shook his head.

"Riya is amazing, as always." Keane took a breath.

"Sometimes I wonder who raised you at all?"

"Your Highness, let me assure you that she was raised by excellent teachers." Alex frowned.

"Mika, we've got to go." Keane got up from his chair.

"I know."

"Thanks for your hospitality. Get well soon."

"Thank you very much."

By escorting Mikael and Keane out. Aiden and I went for a walk in the garden. Alex was against it, but the duke quickly took him to his office. He seemed to really like Aiden. I didn't think this was even possible. We came to an oak tree in the depths of the garden, a slight wind swaying the leaves on it. "What did you say?" Aiden pulled away from me. There was a look of surprise in his eyes.

"That you are dear to me."

Aidan gently pulled me around the waist and leaned to my lips. I felt his hot breath. Goosebumps ran down his back. He carefully looked at me. I succumbed to the feelings in my heart, wrapped my arms around his neck, and our lips merged into a kiss. Aiden pulled me tightly against him, deepening our kiss. I awkwardly answered him, weaving my tongue with his. We couldn't tear ourselves away from each other. It was like we were the only ones in the world.
