(In the past) On the other side. Was Dain, anxiously waiting for the two to return. He became worried, because a day had already passed since the two were gone. When a castle guard came up to him, all haggard and out of breath. Naturally, Dain asked what went wrong. To his surprise, the castle guard explained how some of the citizens who once lived there were clustered up at the gate. The guard then continues claiming that he believes that they wanted to leave. It made sense, Dain thought. He then called for Sara, Leo’s marksman, to call them back for a gathering.

After doing so, he made a statement and apologized on behalf of the kingdom, knowing it was their duty to protect them. But seeing that the people’s mood did not change, he chose a different route, claiming that they would help them build a temporary establishment outside the kingdom, to let them live there safely, away from the Rift. After a couple of arguing, which Dain had expected, the townspeople decided to agree. Dain then summoned his men and helped with the establishment outside the kingdom. Having reduced their manpower, Dain had become even more anxious but controlled himself and chose their moves carefully, thinking of certain routes that would avoid any confrontations with the demons that roamed the town.

Hours later, Sara returned with two of his men. After exchanging their greetings, Sara went straight to the point. She explains that while preparing for the establishment outside the Kingdom, a lone foreigner came to them. After calling an interpreter, she continued saying, that the man was rather surprising, for he was asking them about the whereabouts of the abnormality, which they believed to be the Rift. Dain was shocked, but adapted fast recalling the time when Scarlet claimed that they had a rift too. Only then did Dain’s thoughts were assured, that these abnormalities were scattered all over the world. Even though he had a lot of questions, he decided to set it aside, and asked for Sara to escort the man.

When Sara returned, a tall man entered the camp, wearing a dark robe with a mask covering his mask. Seeing his attire surprised him, thinking how similar it was to the group they encountered before. The man then spoke, which broke Dain’s trance. He then gestures as he apologizes, hoping that the man would understand. After a while, their interpreter enters as they begin to converse.

Man: Are you the one in charge of this group?

Dain: Haha-As of now… Our leader is occupied for certain reasons

Man: Did they enter?

Dain: Sorry? I don’t follow

Man: Its impossible not to see the mist…

If youre the assigned leader, you must already have information right?

Dain: Sorry… I was being cautious, may I confirm something first?

Man: Youre willing on wasting time?

Dain: Do you know of the group called the Rogues?

The man seemed shocked, which concerned Dain. The man then leans forward on the chair, looking at him carefully before leaning back and replying to him in a cold way which the interpreter, who was shaken, conversed to Dain.

Man: You know of them?

Dain: A-ahh… We’ve encountered-We’ve met before

Man: …I see

So that’s why you were wary… I can ensure you, I have no part in them

Dain: The fact that you know them makes a connection

But do tell… Why should I trust you?

Man: I am nobody, it matters not whether you trust me

This made Dain laugh, thinking of how confident the man is. But when he looked back at him, he saw nothing but emotionless eyes. Dain was curious, but got the message. He couldn’t prove it as of now, but he knew that the man wasn’t lying. After the short silence, Dain spoke again which this time, surprised the Man as they stand up facing each other.

Dain: I believe we haven’t properly introduced each other yet

Cas: You can call me Cas

Dain: Pleasure… Dain

With that said, The two continued to talk when Dain decided to cut him off and asked for him to help after explaining the situation. But to Caspian’s surprise, Dain assigned him to help with the establishment outside the kingdom. Being hesitant at first, he decided to cooperate thinking that Dain was only being cautious, and was testing to see if they were compatible. Even with Caspian’s traits, it took them the whole to establish only a few buildings. Seeing as if there were still a lot of people left, Dain went back to the camp thinking of a way to solve the issue. Luckily, even though he was aggressive at first, Cas helped Dain regain the people’s trust, and had some of them live in the camps.

Later that day, Caspian, who felt had rested enough, leaves his tent and continued to walk until he came across with Sara, who he asked for Dain’s whereabouts. After reaching his tent, Sara leaves, knowing that she had done her purpose. When Caspian entered, Dain was shocked and soon became curious, because of Cas having his suit on, but Caspian ensured that it was nothing, saying that he preferred to be always ready. He asked if Dain could help him duplicate the ammunition that he had carried, this worried Dain even more. But after agreeing with one another, Cas went back to his tent and waited. A couple hours have passed when Dain came, with two men carrying a box full of ammunition. He then stopped Caspian, asking what it was for. Cas then claimed that he was only preparing. He then leaves without taking the box and heads towards the end of the mist. Dain followed behind him carrying another glass which he gave to the man.

Dain: Youre a weird one

Cas: ….

Dain: But… Youre not bad

Cas: Whats good… and whats bad…

Do you know what distinguishes them?

Dain: Sorry?

Cas: Nothing… Nevermind

Night finally came, when the two headed back to camp silently. Just before they separated, Dain called out to him as they waved at each other and went back to get to sleep.

The next day, Dain was surprised to hear such a commotion. When he leaves his tent, he sees a group of people gathering in their camps lab. After struggling to get through, he was surprised to hear from the other scientists that the foreigner, Caspian, was taking out all their test subjects. At first he thought that Cas turned against them, but later on couldn’t think of a reason why for Caspian was too unpredictable. So he focused on the matter at hand. In a certain room, was a mistwalker being kept, with Cas who had just entered with two of his handguns. Dain, who saw this, shouted hoping that Cas would hear. Caspian was surprised that they found him so fast, but didn’t waste time and shot the monster causing Dain and the others to be left speechless. Dain thought that it would live, but seeing as it wasn’t moving anymore, they knew it was dead. Dain then looked at Caspian, who was making sure it stayed down, and spoke after asking his men to leave the scene.

Dain: Why? I don’t understand

Cas: Letting them live will only cause you trouble

Dain: I kept them locked so that they wouldn’t be!

Cas: You don’t need them anymore

Dain: And why is that? I kept them alive all this long…

Hah… Its pointless now…

Dain then leaves irritated, while Cas followed behind him. He watches as Dain asks his men to capture atleast one of the demons, but knowing that nobody was experienced enough to lead them the soldiers declined. Caspian insisted Dain to stop, saying that what he said earlier was because he is planning to clear the Rift. Hearing him only annoyed Dain even more, regretting his decision to take him in. Dain continued to find for someone who would volunteer, only for them to shut him out. Having lost all hope, he decided to go back to his tent.

Seconds later, while walking back to the camp. Dain stopped ranting after realizing that Caspian was no longer following him. Instead, he finds Cas as he gazes into the mist. The young man then came closer to him, grabbing him by the shoulder while continuing his rant. To his surprise, Caspian didn’t react. Thinking that he was ignoring him, he felt annoyed and called out his name, finally getting a reply as Caspian looks at him the same way earlier, when he was killing the monsters in the lab.

Dain: Are you even listening?!

Cas: They’re here…

Prepare your men, head to that area

Dain: Wha-what?

Cas: No… Its too late

Ugh… Ill do it myself

Dain: Wait! Where are you going?!

Caspian then headed to a watchtower, with rifle at hand. While Dain began preparing after hearing from his men of Leo’s signal of their return. It then ends as dusk fell, while the two prepared themselves for Montana’s return.
