Ch 27- Reconstruct

After leaving the protest site, we went to the hotel. Once we arrived, Shea parked Ryder and got off it. I followed suit. She then led me to the lobby.

There were a lot of customers inside the hotel. They were mostly aliens or space tourists. I saw them queuing outside the reception desk to check-in. There were also two female receptionists standing behind the counter. One of them was a human while the other was a black alien. Both were wearing the same uniform.

It was weird since the hotel usually used holograms as their receptionists, but I bet they changed it due to the Cybernetic invasion. It was a normal procedure in case Cybernetic intended to do the same with this place.

Since the hologram couldn't check the guests in detail, they had to do it manually. Moreover, according to the news, that invasion was an ambush. The Cybernetic didn't announce the war or anything. Some cyborgs were even already inside Smuisia City long before that attack. It all happened too fast and the Aplana Republic didn't prepare at all.

The attack itself just started this morning but the protests already occur in a lot of cities. It showed how fast information could spread in this era. Many protests quickly sprung up from other countries. They encouraged their government to send reinforcements to the Aplana Republic before it was too late.

"Hello there. Do you have a reservation?" the receptionist asked me. Her voice was quite low. She looked like she was in her late twenties. She also had pale white skin and long black hair. She was wearing a white blouse under a navy blue jacket.

"No," she replied. "We're here for the night and will leave tomorrow morning."

"Oh? What brings you here?" the receptionist asked.

"We just want to take a short vacation," Shea answered.

"Well, I'm glad to hear that. How many rooms would you like? I can arrange it for you," the receptionist responded cheerfully. "Would you prefer twin beds or double beds?"

"Twin please," Shea replied.

"Okay. May I check your ID? It's a new procedure. I need to confirm you're indeed human beings," the receptionist requested.

Shea showed her device and the receptionist scanned it with her device.

'Ha... I need that thing.' I wondered if I could get one here. I might use it when I have to enter the city again.

"Everything okay?" Shea asked.

"Yes. Your identification is confirmed. Thank you for coming here," the receptionist said while handing over two cards each. "Twin rooms are on the top floor ." She pointed at the elevator.

"Thank you," Shea said politely.

We went upstairs and checked into our room. It was quite spacious, especially compared to the small room I was staying in during my first visit.

The room contained a large bed, a wardrobe, and a table. There was also a window that opened to the balcony below. I could see the city skyline from my room. I was happy to see that it wasn't too far away.

Still, rather than that, I quickly put my concentration on something else. I went to the middle of the room.

"Shea, mind if I dirty the room a bit?" I asked.

"I don't mind. " She frowned. "What---" Before she completed her sentence, I extended my hand forward and called my War Machine from my inventory.

It appeared in front of me.

"Are you planning to fix it here?" she guessed.

"Yeah. That's right," I said. "I only use my Technology Manipulation skill to take it and this vehicle belongs to Cybernetic. I need to reconstruct it and turn it into mine," I explained.

"But that's illegal," Shea warned me.

"I know. But riding something from Cybernetic while they are destroying another country is more dangerous than that," I replied with a dry smile.

"True." She nodded. "Just make it look similar to the others. Maybe, the police won't notice it," she reminded me.

I grinned since I already had an idea about that. "Don't worry I know what I should do." I tapped the war machine. "Let's do this."

'Input data.' A control panel appeared on the side of it. I extended my hands and started to type a lot of things there. Mostly codes and commands. Since I already used my Quick Learn skill to understand this machine, I had no problem inputting everything.

The War Machine glowed in blue and shattered apart before it turned into the new model.

I thought for a while before I decided on a name. 'Genesis.'

I smiled happily as I saw it finished. It was looking much-much cooler than the original.

The body was made of light metal. Its design was sleek, making it appear like an alien vehicle. On its back, there were six missile launchers. Each of them could fire several missiles simultaneously. That was the primary weapon. But on the front, there were two large energy shields. It was covered by a transparent shell which was hard enough to protect the driver. That shield allowed it to block almost any attacks.

Its shape was also different from the original. It was longer and wider. It had two seats.

Each of its sides had three laser cannons. Two of them were mounted on each side while the third one was placed above the windshield. These lasers were powerful and deadly. Even so, the shields could absorb most of the damage. If these lasers hit the target directly, it would become a huge mess.
