Chapter 20: (21) Magical (girl) Eel

Days later and a week inside the space already passed.

The trade between the two sides became better, the others agreed with their trade request and the side of Zhao Xiu started trading something unexpectedly good, salt. It turned out they found a salt deposit, mainly clumps of salt stuck to the deepest part of the cave they live in. One cup of salt per 2 baskets full of goods.

The sect might be weak in their eyes, but it is common knowledge that every sect have their last moves. Lily and Yen are not so heartless as to separate someone from their families.

The whole floating island is currently at the maximum size which totaled 7 mountains on the first platform and an additional 3 on the 2nd platform and 1 on the house.

As Marlyn said, it is maximum and Marlyn speculated that the only means to upgrade it further is to upgrade the system 3 more times, and even that is not guaranteed.

"Senior, we already gathered most of the nearby targets, they are currently on the outer Mountain."

Qin Shan reported

"Good, how are their conditions? "

Yen asked further.

"They are doing good, senior. The foods are evenly distributed and they didn't seem to mind staying"

Hearing her, Yen nodded her head in satisfaction.

"Senior, are we really leaving?" 

Qing Shan asked with concerns.

"We will, we don't see any good things worth investing here, and by the reactions of the great sects we don't see any potentials, at the very least they will wrongly accuse our products as evil artifacts and when they discover the effects of the magic spells they will give more reasons why it should be considered as evil artifacts"

Yen said plainly before drinking a glass of water

The two look deflated since they want revenge on those sects.

"You intend to slaughter everyone on those sects, don't you? 

What makes you different from them if you do that? Kill only those who are at fault, don't slaughter the whole herd of cows just because one is sick"

Yen is disappointed, most often innocent people are killed because of revenge and it always starts the cycle anew. While she can't speak for others since they also have blood on their hands, she thinks it's best to let those who are innocent go instead of also implicating them on something they didn't volunteer to do.

"Senior, we-" 

Lui Fen tried to speak, but Qing Shan cut her short.

"Senior is right, we are no less evil than them if we implicate the innocents"

"But-" (Fen)

"If you two want revenge, why not join us on our journey since you will be a part of it

One day we will come back here and if you are still thinking about revenge, then you can do it, but remember we will no longer accept you back if you harm the lives of those innocents"

Yen then stood up and left the room, she is going to watch the competition while fishing on the lake together with her family.

Seeing her left, the tow stayed silent for some moments

" You little lass, senior is right about what she said.

Revenge is not always everything, I've done so much revenge before, and never once did I left with happiness

And with that, he left too to accompany the others in their entertainment of watching their favorite players in the competition.

The audiences seem fixated on their favorites, they even did bets. Since there is no harm to them betting, everyone just lets them do as they please.

They are growing to like it, even the arrogant fellows started having fun, this is a new form of entertainment to them. When they are tired of watching there are even rooms on the four mountains with a hot spring, high-quality beds, and something called a bathroom, also some shampoo and soaps that the Lily and Yen painstakingly researched because Marlyn has a new grown love to shower 4 times a day which is pretty excessive in their opinions. The audience can also choose their preferred type of soap, shampoo, and other types of bathroom necessities.

Unsurprisingly some conflicts happened about people having different opinions on bathing as to which Lily and Yen do not allow fighting inside the island and thus they forced them to compete in fishing instead.

(Did I just write useless information? Nevermind, just consider them as a part of flavoring in this messy work of crap)

On the lake

Birds could be seen flying in circles and the water splashing as the eels feed.

"This place is rather interesting"

An old man drunk from his bottle gourd 

"But it is beautiful, isn't it?"

Besides spoke an elderly woman.

"But how long will the beauty last is the question"

He continued drinking

And so they started quarreling

The people on the lake glanced at them before minding their own business, they can't really watch a whole competition one month straight, can they? Among them are also the disqualified contestants spending their time since no one is allowed to leave the island because it's possible to be attacked by forces of other sects outside.

Unknown to everyone other than Marlyn, Lily, and Yen. Under the lake, something is happening. 

White eggs the size of an adult were being laid by an unusual eel. Unlike other eels, its eyes possess intellect, its front fins are much bigger, and in a shape resembling premature wings, alongside its body grow smaller fins all the way to the tail which became bigger and flatter.

Its skin looks so smooth with mucus covering to protect it.

It learned how to activate a dormant bloodline in its body. Milky white energy secreted from its body and mixed with the water.

White eels swam all around the transformed eel, much bigger than the ones on the surface. They can feel something resonating in their bodies as the energy enters their body and start to transform them. 

They all curled and slowly sink deeper into the caverns connecting the lake into the underground river coursing throughout the entire island.

The eggs also started hatching and smaller snake-like versions of the original came out from the eggs, much like their parent, they have eyes of wisdom.

The bigger eel quivered in excitement, it proudly looks at the smaller of its kind and swam away deeper with them following it.

On the house, the duo smiled before focusing their eyes on the competition once again.

Marilyn on the other hand find it exciting and she hugged her favorite chicken with anticipation. She's wondering if her chicken will become great too and probably taste good.

"Senior, don't you notice that they seem to be doing a bit too good? They don't even want to cross the water to the other side"

Feng Mian pointed out while grinning

"I can't do that, but we might take your suggestions if they continue staying there for more than a month."

Back to the competition.

They are thriving, they are not the only ones thriving tho as other groups continue to develop in their own ways.

A group of outer disciples is living very well in the deeper part of the forest, they can hunt, gather and identify poisonous fruits from edible ones and they have something that others don't, even the group of Zhou Qing don't have this, they managed to tame mounts. Unexpectedly one of them hailed from a family of hunters specializing in taming animals and on their location are some armored slug-like creatures that can chew on hard trees with ease and now they have a very strong and well-defended fortress. What they lack with weapons, they excel at their mounts and other tamed animals. They do have skills in throwing spears

On the opposite side of the island live a harsh group that forces its members into slavery. Their leader is an alchemist who specializes in poison and so they have interesting weapons, they discovered they can create a small exploding weapon by using nearby plants and using seashells as a container, they use such means to catch a lot of fish. They are a cruel but powerful group.

Other smaller groups also exist on the island, mostly led by direct disciples since they don't want to join bigger groups. 

The three big groups still haven't met each other, but soon conflict would arise.

Days passed and now it's already 2 weeks, the survivors that survived became tougher.

Meanwhile, in the now funnily named Clam town, it all started as a joke by sister Xiu when her group visited the settlements for a secret discussion but everyone found it funny and so decided to stick with it.

"Sister An, don't I look beautiful?" 

Jiang Yin Yue showed off her shiny clam armor to Wang An who's busy tending to the water supply of the group.

The Clam armor doesn't really cover everything, it only consists of the chest piece made from 3 clamshells tied by a strong vine, a shoulder piece which is just 2 clamshells. There is also a helmet. They cleverly used the fur clothes as a layer between the armor and the skin

"What are you bragging about? Even brother Huan said it's not that worth it since it is too heavy"

Song Nuan appeared from the side with a clam shield, basically when you made a door from branches, but instead of using it as a door, you covered the front with clam shells to use as a shield.

Seeing the two arrogantly parading their equipment, Wang An just ignored them and continue doing her job to ensure the safety of the water they consume.

"Annoying song! What about you? That shield is not even a 1 person shield, let's bet you won't be able to even carry it!"

She pointed at him

The others stared at them weirdly before minding their own business.

"Those two can't stop being annoying"

Chen Huan said with great annoyance, he's currently making progress with other types of shells available for them.

Jiang Wang Shue, Zhou, Zhuo Qing, and the others are helping Chen Huan sort out the shells.

"This can be used for arrows, too bad we don't have good woods"

Chen Huan said before tossing a shell to the side.

"We're trying, but we can't find any bamboo"

Zhou Qing said

"Not even on the forest?"(Chen Huan)

"We did find one, but not on this island" 

Jiang Wang Shue replied, he had been accompanying Zhou Qing and others on their exploration 

Hearing that, Chen Huan only sighed.

On the hot part of the shore, Jiang Yin Yue and Song Nuan are competing on the task Wang An assigned to them. They are drying some fish the fish group caught with their spears and expert fish knowledge.

This is something they have that other big groups don't, salt to preserve food. They don't eat every fish they catch, they only eat enough for them and sundry the rest. Salt is like a blessing to them.

Song Nuan expertly blow away all the flies trying to land on the fishes and so did Jing Yin Yue. If it's in the past they would deny such food, but living here changed them a bit, at least for the better.
