Chapter 1: CHAPTER 1: Hugo Family

Hilton town has always been known for its harmonious relationship among the residents but there are some things that are not known to the outside world about this little town for example Hugo family. Just like how there's always an exception everywhere, the exception of this so-called harmonious relationship here goes to the Hugo family which is been avoided for generations.

The Hugo family is well-known for the misfortune of each generation, every five or six years there's always someone reported missing or dead in their family whether it's a distant or close relative, as long as the blood that runs in their body is the same they will be caught in it. Another interesting part is that they will be gone missing or dead on the same date, February 28.

There were many rumors about these cases, some say the Hugos were cursed by a woman called Marry, a maid who worked for them but was, in fact, one of the mistresses of Jhon Hugo, the head of the family during that time; there are also others saying it was because of the cursed mansion near their house which is known for the number of deaths that happened inside many years ago; also some like Hugos themselves are killing each other and likes.

No one knows the reason why these cases occur but it doesn't stop people from guessing it or avoiding them as everyone is afraid to bring this misfortune into their own family. Even after all this the Hugo family never explained anything nor tried to change anything.

The main branch of Hugo family currently consists of 4 members: Albert Hugo, his wife Irin Winchester, their 15-year-old daughter Elvin Hugo and their 14-year-old son Gilbert Hugo.

Albert Hugo is someone with a sunny temperament while his wife Irin Winchester is more Cold and distant, except for those whom she thinks are likable. Both were polar opposite and maybe that's why they were attracted to each other like magnets and was madly in love. Their love story was something that's fascinating but that's for another time. 

Just like their parents, the two siblings were polar opposites. Elvin is more cheerful and bold while Gilbert is more gloomy and straightforward.

Like usual the Hugo family was spending their time together this weekend.

Albert was preparing dinner with Irin helping him cut the vegetables along with watching the news on TV. Gilbert was doing his homework on the sofa while Elvin was chatting with her girlfriends about their group work.

"According to the weather forecast, in the north of the country, it's likely to be very windy and cold. There is a high chance to rain too, so please don't leave your home without an umbrella these two days! The temperature is around 10 degrees. In the east it's raining heavily tonight, I'm afraid. There might be a thunderstorm tomorrow morning. The temperature is a bit higher, at around 13 degrees. In the west and middle of the country, the weather is humid and dry. So there's no rain for you but it is quite windy and the temperature is just 10 degrees. The south of the country has the best weather today. It's cloudy most of the time but sunny this afternoon. The temperature is around 15 degrees..."

The weather reporter's sound came from the TV making Elvin who was excited about the group work disappointed.

"If there's a thunderstorm tomorrow then I don't think our group work can be done tomorrow guys. Let's wait and see for now, if there's no rain tomorrow afternoon let's meet each other at Xyz café. Bye!" El finished her phone call slightly disheartened.

"Don't be too disappointed El" Albert smiled and said "let's have our dinner now and sleep"

"Okay, dad!"

While everyone was having their dinner, it was raining heavily sideways outside as if there was no tomorrow.

Elvin was lying on her bed watching the rain outside through her window hoping that there will be no rain tomorrow afternoon, soon she fell asleep.
