Chapter 4: Martha’s diner

Cassidy’s car is an old school sport car that has been modified from what I have seen. The interior is pretty comfortable and looks really luxurious.

The first thing I think about when I entered this car is that is really comfortable. The seat is really soft and the air conditioning is perfect, probably one of those auto-adjust air conditioner. Yeah, note to self get this kind of modification when I get my own car in the future.

However, What I find really interesting about his car is the front window, it’s one of those rare smart window with holographic display and have multiple program.

“Heimdall, set route to Martha’s Diner” (Cassidy)

A map is shown on the window and shows us the most optimal way to drive there. Heimdall seems to be the AI of this car.

“huh… there are several traffic jam this early? Heimdall, tell me the reason why that happened?” (Cassidy)

[Several underground pipes were exploded by a group of unknown vandals last night based on the police chatter, the automated repair system are fixing them right now] (Heimdall)

“Damn… any lead on who are the suspects” (Cassidy)

[Camera footage caught a group wearing Red hoodies with burned flower as the logo and we’re seen carrying several bag, presumably the explosive they used] (Heimdall)

“well, there is one more thing to add to my workload” (Cassidy)

He started the engine and began driving along the road, following the recommended route.

Man this car is really great, it drives so smooth that it didn’t feel like riding a car at all. I should ask him about this car modification.

“So… what modifications you did you apply for this cars” (Arthur)

“Too many to list, but the most important modification would be the gyroscopic stabilization, no matter how much this car shakes, we wouldn’t feel anything.” (Cassidy)

That explains the smooth driving.

“how much does it cost?” (Arthur)

“Guess” (Cassidy)

Hmn….

“1… million?” (Arthur)

“guess again” (Cassidy)

“10 million?” (Arthur)

“guess again” (Cassidy)

“100 million… I don’t know, I give up” (Arthur)

There was silent and I see Cassidy looked at me with a smug smile.

“it cost me nothing, I got it for free” (Cassidy)

Damnit, Who would have guessed. They way he said it is really suspicious. So I asked him about it.

“Who would give this kind of thing for free?” (Arthur)

“The kind of people who are very generous” (Cassidy)

(He stole it) (Villain and Little Star said at the same time)

Definitely.

I blankly stare at Cassidy, he stayed silent. I think he knew that I didn’t really believe any of the thing he said.

He activated the speaker and set up the music streaming program, he picked a playlist and continued towards Martha’s dinner.

Around thirty minutes later, we finally arrived at Martha’s. It looked like any other diner I have been in but a lot cleaner that others.

After Cassidy parked his car we both got out the car and I paused, Cassidy sees this and stared at me.

(Warning, you got out the car a bit too fast, the wound have been opened) (Assistant)

“What happened?” (Cassidy)

“I think the wound got opened a bit” (Arthur).

Cassidy walk closer at me and grab my hand.

(Anomaly detected, Cell activity around the bullet would are accelerated at an extreme rate, now the bullet wound completely sealed) (Assistant).

I stared at Cassidy, “what did you do?”

“don’t think about it, let’s go, I’m hungry” (Cassidy)

He walked off to the diner and I soon followed.

When I entered the place, I saw that this place is really clean and nice looking. It doesn’t smell bad and instead have the scent of delicious food.

“oh… mister Cassidy, good morning. it’s rare to see you come late at this time of day and who’s than young man beside you, here come sit onto he chair.” (???)

A lady in her late 20s greeted us and told us to sit a chair in front of her.

“Good morning miss Hannah, there is an accident on the road to here so I take a detour. The boy name is Arthur, I helped him out last night” (Cassidy)

“oh I see, nice to meet you Arthur, my name is Hannah and I’m the current owner of this fine diner” (Hannah)

She welcomed me here, she felt warm…

She gave me the menu. It says breakfast menu, it contains the food that seems to be exclusive for breakfast. All of the food listed here sound delicious, maybe because I haven’t really eat normally in a long time.

“What should I pick?” (whispered Arthur)

(Ooh, we haven’t had pancakes is ages) (Little Star)

Tempting.

“Oh I recommend the egg and hash with coffee, it’s the thing mister Cassidy usually order, speaking of mister Cassidy, the usual?” (Hannah)

“Yeah but with extra coffee this time, my instincts told me I will be called to work even though it is my day off today” (Cassidy)

“Sure…” (Hannah)

(I suggest picking the full breakfast set, your body is in a dire need of nutrients) (Assistant)

I don’t think I can finish the food.

“You seems to be troubled? Is there anything wrong?” (Hannah)

She is concerned because I have been silent for a while

“I… I don’t know what to choose” (Arthur)

“Well, how about this, I will cook you something, I’m sure you are going to love it” (Hannah)

After saying that, she walked quickly to the kitchen behind. She is quite the ball of energy.

“she is nice” I whispered.

(She is the nicest person we have ever encountered so far) (little star)

Little star also agreed.

Cassidy chuckled.

“She is, anything happened to her, this whole forsaken district will stop doing what they are doing and will go on a rampage” (Cassidy)

I stared Cassidy's eyes, Somehow I don’t think he is joking at all.

(He is not joking) (little star)

“you are joking… right?” (Arthur)

“Nope, several bad thing had happened to her and each time that happened, the whole district went mad.” (Cassidy)

His eyes were serious. There is a tinge tiredness in his eyes when he said it.

(We should steal her) (Villain)

I want to be alive, so no.

Few minutes went by and Hannah returned with our food.

How did I insert picture here? I messed around waifulab and got pictures that is somewhat close to what I imagined the character looks like.
