"Don't do it, B! You can't beat a witch!" Anta shouted to the girl that was already running towards the main gate.
B pulled a sword from the sheath that was hanging on Oliver's side before he had the chance to do something. He wanted to stop her, but he couldn't react in time to even touch the sword or the girl.
"You will get us killed! Turn back and give me my sword," he knew he will not be able to catch her so he didn't bother chasing after her.
The girl who didn't seem to listen to anyone, but her rage, was now running three times faster than any normal human could towards the five-meter tall gate. She used her speed and momentum, gathered strength in her feet with every step, bent her knees slightly, and pushed so hard into the ground that she propelled herself with ease over the gate and onto the other side of the fence.
"Amazing!" one of the guards said impressed.
"Look at her going for it," Luke who has just gotten his ass kicked by B was now admiring her.
"Quiet everyone! I hear something."
Just as the old man Paul said, the villagers stopped talking and tried to figure out what was happening. There was indeed a noise similar to a man struggling to breathe coming from the dark footpath. It was getting louder with every second, meaning that something was getting closer.
"Someone might need our help," a man said trying to rush towards the source of the noise, but he got stopped by Oliver.
"You don't know what it is, idiot! Don't just go to get yourself killed for no reason."
Something dark and evil was approaching and Oliver knew it.
"Get ready for the worst-case scenario, everyone! The worst night this village has ever seen has come. If we manage to survive by morning, they will retreat into the forest," the old woman added.
"Damn you, Emer!" Anta was cursing the witch.
As the noise was getting louder, some of the men were starting to tremble while others swallowed dryly.
"It's here."
From the dark in front of them, two small baby feet came into view, followed by the trunk that was missing some flesh, making way for the ribs that were hanging out on the side. Slowly, the face of the small creature came to light. It had two bloody red hands that seemed to have been cut at the wrists and glued to its face. From between the fingers, an eye was looking at the villagers.
*Chri, chri, chri.* The baby monster seemed to be laughing spreading fear and disgust around him. It was so grotesque that a man couldn't refrain from throwing up when seeing the creature, while the rest of the villagers were only standing there shocked waiting for someone to make the first move.
"Atta--" a man tried to say, but he dropped dead.
Everyone froze on the spot scared to take action. The guy beside them died just by trying to say something, so what if the same thing would happen to them if they angered the small creature?
There was nothing they could do. They were no magicians or heroes capable of fighting something like this. The baby monster was now looking at one of the guards holding a sword in his hands. A crack of the neck sideways from the creature and he dropped dead as well.
*Crack *Crack *Crack
People were falling dead one by one as if snipers were shooting them in the heads.
"We need to do something or we'll all get killed!" Luke managed to find some courage and ran towards the small creature with a knife in his hands. It didn't last long as only a few steps forward he stumbled and fell.
Suddenly the following questions came to his mind: "What if I'll miss and then the baby kills me? What if I only attack it out of fear and I'm actually not ready to fight? Is there anything I can even do? What if the pain will be so much worse than I think?"
When he looked up, he saw the little monster staring exactly at him, which made Luke pee himself. The creature seemed satisfied as if this was exactly the reaction it was hoping for.
"I'm done for. I've been pathetic until the very end." Tears were falling down his cheeks. He had already accepted his death.
"Creature of the underworld, I'm sending you back to the afterlife. May you find peace there!" Just as she finished saying those words, Anta pulled out an antique watch with a chain and carefully approached the horrifying thing.
The spell affected the blood of the cursed by burning it, while the clock beats were heard by the baby monster a hundred times louder than normal making it a terrifying weapon.

As soon as it heard those words, the monster fell on its back and started rolling from one side to the other screaming in pain. It was now burning from the inside and steam was coming out from underneath the hands glued to its face. Having finished the monster, the old lady pulled a handkerchief from her pocket and started coughing into it.
"That was reckless. You know that any spell you use can get you killed. Your glory days are long gone." Paul said.
"We would all be dead right now if I didn't do it."
"How did he get inside the village?" a young man asked as he breathed a sigh of relief now that the creature was dead.
"Who knows..."
A thin old man with glasses who lost his sanity due to fear was standing up on a chair outside his home in the village center. He was looking at the sky while a bunch of monsters were swarming past him. "The purge day has come! We need to pray!"
The doom of the settlement was fast approaching.
Little people knew that the scream they heard moments ago was not only coming from the little monster's pain. It was also a call to war. Not long after its small body was reduced to ashes, an earthquake started. Terrifying noises as if they were screams coming from hell could now be heard from multiple directions. Due to all the ruckus, dust lifted up reducing the visibility of the people considerably.
"What now? Just what the hell is happening?!"
"Don't panic and stand your ground, our only option now is to fight for our lives!" shouted Oliver trying to encourage the rest of the people not to give up.
"Antaaaaaa! You said B was gonna protect us with her life and she ran away like a possessed dog!" His despair could easily be understood from his voice alone.
Once things calmed down a bit and the earthquake stopped, the villagers found themselves trapped, surrounded by mist and monsters. The only thing they could see outside of their reach were numerous red eyes. Whispers were now coming from all around them.
*Join us in the afterlife.*
*There is nowhere to hide.*
One guard was stubbed in the ears and out through his mouth, then got pulled away. Another one followed in his footsteps as a creature hanging like a spider pierced him in the back and pulled him up. The man screamed in fear as his limbs got cut and fell to the ground without the trunk or the head.
*We are stronger! We are smarter.*
The small population of this cursed village was slowly getting wiped out. Men were getting slaughtered and crushed. Children were crying and running aimlessly before meeting their end, and women were getting dragged into the forest for breeding.
Anta decided to sneak out and enter an abandoned house. Coughing blood and swearing, she was searching for something while throwing everything she didn't need out of the way.
"I need to get B back to the village! That's the only chance we've got."
Oliver stormed inside and quickly closed the door behind him. A creature was trying to get in by smashing its body against the door several times. The man almost got killed when a long and sharp limb made a hole in the door right next to his left ear. He grabbed it with a hand, took an axe that was stuck in a wooden grey table with the other hand, and cut the member. The creature screamed in pain and pulled its limb covered in black blood out.
"Anta, do something!"
"Hang in there, handsome, I'm working on it!"
While people were suffering, standing up there at the edge of the mountain on her improvised throne, the beautiful witch with a mole at the corner of her red eye was laughing as if she was watching a comedy movie.
"Go, my precious babies. Infuse fear, kill, slaughter, reproduce, and destroy everything in your path!" she said with an excited voice and an evil smile. "This will be the last moon you'll see, Anta."
Just as she was planning to leave and let the creatures wreak havoc in the city, she heard a scream.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" The only hope this village had (B) was quickly leaving the settlement behind just as an arrow leaves its bow when fired. She only had one thing on her mind and that was to beat the annoying ass witch to a pulp and wipe that smile off her face.
