A few hours before the banquet started.
The sun disappeared and the moon hung above the clouds.
The moonlight enlightened the environment.
The buildings and nearby houses began to shine when their lights turned on.
The lamps of the streets showed a new color of the beauty of the town tonight.
The Fly High Hotel showed off its blooming color of lights in the public.
I was a bit concerned about the health of my father. He was still energetic and optimistic despite what happened earlier. He even prepared a banquet or a welcome party for an honorable guest. Only God knew who he was referring to. He was very certain he would come.
According to Ms. Fredda, the name of this high-profile guest was Holmer Aldnoa, a new ruler lurking in the shadow. He's a mysterious clan master who originated on an island in the Southeast Asia Pacific. Not only that, he was the new master of a renowned and legendary assassin, Holver Arnoa.
I assumed they mistook him for someone else, but apparently, the secretary justified her claims.
Since the event was closing in, I headed back to my room. I changed my attire to a formal outfit, a black suit, and light long pants. I removed my makeup, but I applied some powder to keep my skin smooth and looked decent.
As I examined my face in the mirror, I was staggered to see my natural beauty. It was really cute to watch. But this was not the right time to focus on me. I had a job to do, so I feigned no more interest.
I adjusted my collar and checked the room where my father was. He was in the main office located on the top floor of the hotel.
His room was guarded by two rawboned men. They looked weaker in their scrawny appearance than a lousy teacher in a public school. Plus, a civilian could compare them to a wimpy nerd than an average soldier in an army. However, I won't make the mistake of underestimating these people.
I won't dare to disrespect these men. They were dangerous!
They were pretending to look weak, but they were savage beasts.
They were a tiger in a deer's coat. Believe it or not, one guard could kill a dozen men with his bare hands. Our clan master's bodyguards were selected based on their merits.
As I approached them, the institute building caught my glance. I walked closer to the transparent window and focused on the 51st floor.
'The damage is severe. That traitor needs a lot of beating. It is a shame that he died before I could do it,' I commented inside my head.
I shifted my attention to the door and proceed to meet with my father.
"Greetings, milady!" the two guards saluted with their right hand pressed on their chest.
I placed a hand on my waist and signaled them to open it for me. The man on the right did the favor respectively.
"Oh, Lixue, I was about to call an escort to pick you up. Why are you here? And why are you wearing a formal suit, my dear? You look like an old lady in a suit, you know," my father was bewildered. "Good evening, father. I put this on to protect you. This outfit is fitting to guard you properly. It is easy to move, you see. I don't want to repeat the same mistake that I commit last time," I declared with a cold icy stare.
"But Longzist elite units are already enough to protect me. Listen here, you're the next heir of the Mingxi clan. You don't have to do this. Act like one," my father reprimanded. He sat down on his chair, crossed his legs, and picked the picture frame of our family photo.
He was a bit tired, but he was keeping himself strong for the sake of our family.
"But father, why aren't you bothered about it? You almost got killed, you know," I fumed. "Because I'm already used to it, dear. That's all," my father responded, smiling.
'Say what? I don't understand,' I faltered.
"Can you explain to me why? For me, that's a ridiculous statement I have ever heard, father," I requested sarcastically. "You're too young to understand it anyway. But as your father, I guess I have to teach you a very valuable lesson. This quote is still lingering inside my mind. I learned this from my master when I was your age. Do you know what he said? He stated that no matter how difficult life is, you shouldn't dwell on it. Life is life. Betrayal is common, but don't be a moron. Once you continued to train mentally and physically in a closed space, you can break their hearts and put them into their place," my father stated in a lips-pursing tone.
'Pathetic, why kind of quote is that?' I revulsed at his obnoxious words.
"Hey, don't stare at me like that. You're hurting the pride of your father, you know," my father heaved a sigh. "Dad, you need a doctor. You need help," I advised with a blank gaze.

"Jeez, you're really her daughter. Is it inherited or something? Never mind. I'm relieved somehow. You're slowly showing a bit of emotion, my dear," my father rubbed a hand on his chin. "Thank you very much. I will tell mother about it later," I stated with a deadpan tone.
"Hey, hey, don't tell her. She might kill me. Hays, bear in mind. If you're not my child, your action could result in your death. But I don't want to end our dynasty in my generation," my father stood up from his chair and moved closer to the window. His eyes glared down at the town with a cold tone. "So do I," I agreed.
"Let's move on, my dear. Accident happens. Period," my father commented. "But it doesn't mean you should let it slide like that, though," I justified.
"Yeah, but Zuelo is only fulfilling his mission. It's part of the job. Remember, business is business. Didn't we already promise to stop picking this topic again?" my father claimed. "My apologies, I don't mean disrespect," I placed a hand on my chest in apology.
He raised a hand with a smiling face.
"It's fine. It's normal for a child of mine to express her concern. You don't have to apologize," my father remained on his spot without looking at me. "Thank you very much, father," I hung my head down.
"By the way, I received a message from Secretary Fredda that the next heir of the Cuizo clan will arrive shortly," my father mumbled. "Cuizo heir will pay a visit, huh? That's not good," I was worried.
"Yeah, it is quite troublesome. But I'm sure we can manage. To be frank, I don't mind about it. I'm pretty sure, he will ask for a duel against me," my father gurgled into laughter. "Don't laugh it off, father. That's not funny at all. First of all, why would he look for a fight?" I inquired, pouting my cheeks. "Because he wants to take over the family business. Remember this, this is part of our tradition that started when the Golden Circle was founded. When an heir of a clan requests a fight, the elders should respect their wishes. Fight to the death. The winner shall take the price without question. The losing side should respect it," my father explained promptly.
"But let me correct there, sir. This is the 21st century. And people have already changed after a century of war that trembled in this world. We're no longer living in the past. We should adapt and exhume," I advised. "Naah, we don't need to," he laughed it off.
"As if, you will listen. It is a mistake to tell you this, father," I pouted my lips. "Hey, hey, stop it. I'm listening here. I can hear it loud and clear," my father pointed to his ears as proof.
"Do you really prefer to continue living like that?" I quizzed. "Yes, I will continue until the end of my life. Plus, I won't let anyone dares to change the law of our ancestors. Trust me. The rules and regulations of the past are absolute. Everyone should stick with it until the end. No question asks," he affirmed with a determined look.
"But father," I was about to say something, but he extended a hand to stop me. "Lixue, let's stop this. I won't change my mind. Let me remind you of this. Stick it into your head. I am not only the clan master of the Mingxi clan, but I am the honorable Chairman of the Golden Circle. You should know your place," my father approached me and touched my shoulder with a cold gaze.
I gulped upon seeing his serious side.
"Yes, father," I hung my head down and surrendered. "Hey, hey, cheer up, my dear. My dear daughter, don't be scared. I'm not mad. I just want to see you happy. Think positive," my father tapped a hand twice on my shoulder.
'Father, you dummy,' I clicked my tongue.
"Now then, let's change the subject. How about you come back to your room and change into a fancy-looking dress?" my father suggested. "No, I don't want to. It is overbearing to wear," I shifted my gaze to the side.
"My dear, you're a notable princess of the organization. Everyone adores and respects you. Well, there are a little number of people who envied your position in the inner circle, but I'm pretty sure you can manage to pull it off. C'mon, you're gorgeous, Lixue. You're undoubtedly the most beautiful girl in the century," my father declared before he embraced me tightly.
'Hmph, you're exaggerating a lot of words, father,' I stated with a deadpan look. But deep inside, I was a bit embarrassed upon hearing it.
"Is there no other way for me to keep this outfit on me?" I inquired. "No, change it. I dislike seeing my dear daughter in that outfit. It is unfit for your position. Listen here carefully. I don't want this heir of the Cuizo clan to look down on you. There is a lot of invited female guest at that party too. Your mother will come, as well. She will kill me once she sees you like that. Remember this, appearance is a must. All people always wear a mask. If you want to earn their respect, follow this simple step of its concept. These kinds of people will see you like a clown, and there's no doubt they pull you down. That's why you should listen properly, so you can defend the honor of our family with dignity," my father reminded me.
"Then, I will fight. To make them fright," I grumbled. "But there are still your people, and you should always stay humble," my father smiled.
"But... What if, one of the five families requested me of hand for marriage?" I mumbled. He flinched in an instant. "O-o-oh, that's a bit concerning to hear. Worry not. I, I, I will make sure it won't happen. I mean, I will make sure they won't ask about it," my father remarked.
A cord appeared on his neck. His smile stiffened, but his eyes glared to the side with bloodlust. Not to mention, his hands were trembling out of anger.
'Why is he angry? It is just a marriage proposal, though,' I tilted my head to the side.
"Father, I don't think so. What if the goal of the heir of the Cuizo is me? He will request me to fight him. Do you think the heir of the Cuizo will seek your approval?" I repeated the statement. "Oh, dear. That's a bit different from what I thought. Remember, this is not your time. I won't accept it. Men are beasts, but be at ease. Never mind, I have a plan. Your father will prepare a special gift for the suitors. I'll make sure violence is the answer. I mean, they won't stand a chance. You don't have to worry about it," my father smiled, but he looked scary outside.
"Pardon?" I was confused. "Beat him to death if he dares. I don't care," my father giggled.
'Father, you're really a foolish old man,' I commented.
