Forget the fear of disciplinary actions. Apparently, TBC was so hot-footed that they didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. But this scare of being removed from the equation was making TBC look incredibly soft in the eyes of our enemies. So what if the government wanted to regulate where supes could step? That wasn’t going to stop SOS from slashing their heads off. TBC was wary of being seen as a foe and not a friend, but in the process, they were telling folks like Sigma and SOS that they could do whatever the fuck they wanted without getting reprimanded. This government leash needed to go, and I for one wasn’t going to wait for it to shake loose.
I woke up this morning with a personal assignment of my own. Tonight, I was planning on going back to Unity Bank and excavate the capsule. I knew Dessi was against it, and last night, I hadn’t told her my plan yet. But honestly, what other options were there? As long as my father was down there, SOS would continue to stick their noses where it didn’t belong. He needed to be relocated for the safety of everyone, not just those involved.
After I finished my morning routine, I walked into the kitchen, my girls already up bright and early. Rynn was on the couch flicking through channels, and Dessi and Aster were taking care of breakfast. They all acknowledged me, especially Dessi, who rushed over to give me a kiss on my cheek with her spatula still in her hand. “Morning Liam!” she said warmly.
“Morning!”
“How do you like your coffee, sugar bear?” Aster asked me from the kitchen island.
“I’ll take it black for today,” I answered, making my way over to her for a kiss. I grabbed her hips from behind and gave her a peck along the shell of her ear, Aster then turning around to face me.
“I’m sorry, I thought I looked delicious this morning,” she said cheekily. “Don’t insult me with just a tiny itty bitty kiss.”
“Why don’t you pop in one of those charms in his coffee then? See how far that’d take you,” Rynn said bitterly from the couch, bringing a smile to my face.
“Oh, you don’t say?” Aster replied sarcastically. “I don’t think you remember how my charms work, snow pea. Liam here doesn’t need a push to have his fun with me.”
All right, I’d shut her up, just for the sake of keeping them from fighting. I gave her the sweet and tender kiss she wanted before Rynn could even bite back, Aster suddenly giving everyone a show. She was getting frisky with me, those hot and heavy pants from her making Dessi and Rynn gawk at us. If she was trying to send a message to Rynn, I was sure it worked. But even I wasn’t ready for Aster’s morning sex invitation—and that’s what it was gonna be if she kept at it with her spider legs groping and squeezing me in those places.
“Get a room,” Rynn barked at us.
“You read my mind,” Aster panted, finally unlocking her lips from mine while her fingers stroked underneath my shirt.
I chuckled. “Okay, but let me get my morning coffee first before you cocoon me in a spider trap.” I reached over for my coffee mug sitting on the counter behind her, and before I could even take two steps to the coffee machine, I noticed the news on the flat screen.
Rynn had stopped surfing the channels, her eyes latched on the news, too. It was a live broadcasting that stopped me dead on my tracks, Dessi and Aster tuning in to the savagery as well. I had to rub my eyes and make sure that I wasn’t seeing things, because by the looks of it, The Tank’s team was taking out local cops!
“What in the hell?” Rynn whispered, the broadcast slowly bringing her on her feet.
She took the words right out of my mouth. Everyone was stunned as The Tank tore through Roe City’s finest without skipping a fucking beat. Without hesitation, we watched as Invisible girl snatched their guns and turned on them. Poppi tossed cop cruisers overhead, into people, and into cars. While Zero, the gravity girl, scooped anyone into the skies that got in her teammates’ way.
The scene was utter and complete chaos, civilians running around trying to escape Watch Square while a bunch of TBC heroes went rogue.

For fuck’s sake, why? And why now?
I remembered collaborating with The Tank’s Team, and besides the asshole captain himself, the girls were a pleasure to work with. I couldn’t understand why they would turn on The Brother’s Code. And to make matters worse, infiltrate a sector such as Watch Square. It was a hot zone, and these people were already in distress. Why make matters worse by going to the Unity Bank site to—wait a minute…
“What is he doing?!” Dessi cried, all eyes on the metal Russian braggart doing the one thing he shouldn’t, and that was pulling my dad’s pod out of its nest!
“Shit!” My chest was racing! The news anchor started to run, everyone hollering as gusts of dirt poured into the scene. The ground started to shake around ground zero, the cracks in the cement The Tank was creating taking down anything along the branching paths. Pulling him out was something I had planned to do tonight, but after seeing what these so called heroes were doing, I doubt they had good intentions with the capsule. The only question I had now was where the hell were they going to take him?
My body went numb, but I watched on as cords of wires and tubing snapped when The Tank heaved the giant capsule with his bare hands. I was scared to the bone, realizing that they might have known exactly what my father was capable of. I didn’t know if I could stop him, especially since I couldn’t read the energy within the pod, or even around it. It was a terrifying thought to think that these TBC supes could be this gullible, regardless of what they planned on doing with him.
I move forward with one mission on my mind—stopping them. But before my ass could hit the door, Aster portaled her way through the floorboards, and intercepted me. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“To stop them!” I barked at her. “Don’t you see the shit they are pulling?”
“Liam, even if you could make it there in time, which you can’t, they have you grossly outnumbered,” Rynn reminded me.
“That doesn’t mean shit. I can deal with it!”
“Then let us go with you!” Dessi said, quickly backing me up. Regardless of the voluntary help, we weren’t going anywhere, Pamela suddenly barging in with the worst news I’d gotten thus far.
“You’re not going anywhere. They are being controlled,” she ordered us, our liaison panting and out of breath.
“By who?”
“The girl with the rare possessing powers… Rachel Henderson.”
My eyes grew. When Pamela whipped out the street surveillance photo, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing....
There she was, under a street camera in some mid ghost form, orchestrating her powers with her yellow eyes beaming bright.
“Rachel?”
