I didn’t think I’d find myself in this office again so soon. Instead of being warmly invited, I was dragged coldly with a justified disciplining in my future. After Pamela had broken into our already shattered humble abode, she and her men reeled Aster in, taming her with my help. I had held her down so Pamela’s team could administer her dose, a mask with a sleeping agent that strapped around her mouth and kept her crazy demon powers at bay. To be honest, I felt terrible, because the control method was similar to how I had been treated for years…

I took my seat across Pamela’s desk, noticing her office was actually a clutter this time. I saw a bunch of skirted papers along her mahogany desk and on the floor, like a wind storm had barged right in. I didn’t comment on it, hearing Pamela’s heels approach me from behind.

She took a seat, showing me a side of Pamela I didn’t know existed. Her hair was slightly tousled, her shoulder pent up like she was anxious. She even reached into a drawer in her desk for a cigarette, lighting the butt end in front of me while she let out a long aggravated sigh.

“I don’t mean to interrupt but, Aster struck a magic trick on Dessi and made her vanish,” I started. “I feel like we need to wake Aster up so she can tell us where she is.”

“She had dropped a couple of floors down to me,” Pamela confirmed, her statement making my face scrunch. “You can imagine my surprise when one of my supes paid me an unorthodox visit, falling from the fucking sky, like an angel.”

Shit…

“She is fine. Just a little rattled. I am holding her for questioning in a different ward. I’d like to get her side of the story before I decide how I’d like to move forward with this issue.”

“Look, I’m sorry about Aster. She’s not the easiest girl to handle.”

“Then make her easy to handle,” Pamela said almost maliciously. “Liam, I need you to get your team in order,” she threatened. “I will only repeat this once.”

“Right…”

“And judging by the mess upstairs, I can safely assume that Rynn played a part in it. Look, I’m not asking you to father three little girls. I am telling you to put a leash on three super heroes I know damn well you can handle without a problem.”

“You made me team captain because you think I could control them?”

“That, and for a number of reasons. And I am rarely ever wrong with my judgment calls. So don’t fuck this up.”

Her vocabulary got spicy when she was stressed out. She must have been under a lot of pressure, making sure this operation ran smoothly, and my team wasn’t making it easy on her.

“Your new ward and passcode are loaded in your living assignment tab. I have already cleared the rest of you and your team’s schedules so you can alleviate the tension. I will be releasing Aster and Dessi soon. Don’t disappoint me, Liam.”

++++

She added more salt into the wound by bringing us all back together so soon. Sure, we were tight on time, but Aster needed to cool off first. This would be the second time I had seen her act out of character, almost like she had a dual personality. I get it, hunger had the ability to turn people ugly, but this was above and beyond what I had signed up for.

My innate reaction back there had been to protect them, not to discipline them. I guess I still needed to fit into that whole team leader mold, every day adding onto the struggle. So I started to stop feeling threatened by the title and embraced it, with all of the perks that came along with the privilege. I was a male captain to three girls; I should have been reaping in the rewards.

At first, the thought sounded a tad selfish, but I was desperate here. They had conditions to their contracts, and so did I. All four of us needed to perform so we could get our cut. The longer we got in each other’s throats, the more evidence we’d give The Brother’s Code of our crippling incompetency. So I scheduled an outing for the four of us. I left a letter on the coffee table of our new ward for the girls to meet me in room D-11 at seven pm, which was the campus’ entrance to the indoor hot springs.

I just hoped that none of them had been paying close attention to yesterday’s tour and realized I was baiting them out to play in a pool.

The place was empty, and gave off a warm rustic feel, with hanging leafy plants both inside and outside of the tall frosted windows. The place was well lit, with additional lighting from the bamboo torches in the courtyard illuminating the inside. There was plenty of steam, towels to spare, and a mini bar. Sure, there was no guarantee that they’d even show up in the next three minutes, but I was hopeful, setting the champagne glasses along the rim of the pool before pulling the golden elixir out of the mini fridge.

That was when I noticed I had company.

Her head poked out of the floor, similar to how she had phased Dessi earlier. The range this girl had was spooky, as well as her choice of entering our friendly session.

Aster startled me, but I kept my fist around the neck of the champagne glass, taking a step back before I stepped on her. The black construct that surrounded her faded once she sprouted out from the stone floor, my eyes glossing over Aster’s sexy black and red bathing suit.

So, she did remember the floor plan after all...

“You’re a sneaky man, Liam,” she purred, tracing her finger over my chest.

“Heh, well, I had to find some way to get all of you back on your good sides.”

“Lucky for you, I don’t mind sharing.”

“Sharing what?”

She squinted, giving me a flirty look. “Hmm, that must be why you still have your clothes on.”

I chuckled. “Looks like I’m disappointing you already.”

“Yes, we should remedy that,” she cooed, pressing herself on me with her playful finger dangling over my belt. “Let me help you get out of those clothes…”

“You’re getting ahead of yourself, Aster,” I snickered, pushing the brakes on her. “Besides, I don’t want to get anything started without the other girls. Especially Rynn.”

“Forget about her.”

“Aster, you were the one who said you saw Rynn and I as a family,”

“I did? Hmm, I might have had too much of that red wine to drink,” she giggled.

“You owe her an apology at least.”

“After she tore that hole through me?” Aster pulled back bitterly. “If anything, she is the one who needs to apologize to me! Not that I’d listen to it anyway. Because of her, I had to get treated.”

“What the hell did they do to you anyway?”

“After you so kindly helped them tackle me?” She sucked her teeth and crossed her arms over her chest spitefully. “They pinned me down and forced more of that bagged therapy blood inside my veins! It’s disgusting!”

“Hey, I wouldn’t have had to do that if you hadn’t allowed your hunger to turn you bat shit crazy. And I think you’re over exaggerating. At least they didn’t jam a needle into you and make you weaker.”

She looked over her shoulder at me sympathetically. “Temporary weakness, I’d hope.”

“Of course. Nothing with these treatments are permanent, right?”

She paused, the expression on her face making me wary. Aster then cracked a fake smile and followed, “That’s good to hear, Liam. That it’s temporary.”

Something was off about Aster. But just before I was about to prod her about it, the door creaked open, Dessi standing there gawking at us.

“Um,” she hesitated, her eyes growing huge, realizing she had stumbled into something steamy. “I think I’m in the wrong room!” she cried, turning back around to buck it. Aster wouldn’t let her go though, seeping through the floor and coming back up on the other end of the room to grab Dessi by the wrist.

“Nonsense! Come on, join us! We are only going for an evening swim, miss goodie two shoes!” Aster persuaded as she tugged on Dessi’s arm. “Besides, I doubt you’d want to miss an opportunity to see Liam in his birthday suit.”

“Heh, I could hear that,” I chuckled, Aster turning around to me mischievously.

“Oh don’t worry, that was totally intentional.” She winked.

“Please, this is so unprofessional!” Dessi cried, trying to hide her hot blush behind her fingers as she followed Aster in.

“What is?” Rynn said behind the two girls at the doorway.

“Oh right, you invited her too. I nearly forgot,” Aster said, rolling her eyes at Rynn.

“Great, everyone’s here,” I said, settling the champagne bottle aside. “I had asked all of you to come here so we can clear the air between each other, and in a sense, start over. Because Pamela didn’t appreciate what the both of you did in our old place.”

“I think you’re referring to trigger happy pop shot over here,” Aster slipped at Rynn.

“Aster, the both of you were held accountable,” I corrected. “And it’d be great if we could start acting like a team. The sooner, the better. We all have something to lose here, don’t we? We started off on the wrong foot, in the low brackets, but that doesn’t mean we should give up. I’m not giving up on you girls, and you shouldn’t give up on yourselves either.”

“Liam is right,” Dessi agreed. “We should put our differences aside and act like a team! Although, I wouldn’t have chosen this um, wet venue to make amends,” she whispered nervously.

“Don’t worry, we have plenty of towels,” I reassured her.

Rynn snorted. “I’m not getting in the pool with that gross spider woman.”

“Good, who needs ya!” Aster barked. “Dessi and I can enjoy Liam all for ourselves,” she cooed, portaling herself toward me again. Aster’s forwardness must have rubbed Rynn the wrong way, her eyes latched on the demon woman pressing her huge rack against my chest, while wrapping her arms around my hips lovingly.

Rynn brushed past her, knocking her shoulder into Aster’s while she fed her a cold glare. “Get out of my way!” she bit back, then proceeded to strip down.

Shit, what did I get myself into?

“Smph, show off,” Aster hissed, the both of us watching Rynn slip her blouse over her head. The ivory-haired weapons forger wasn’t wearing anything underneath, letting her ass spring free once the brim of her tights slapped her thick thighs.

She kicked her clothes aside, Rynn still facing her back toward us while she slipped toe first inside the hot springs.

“Good thing these Wizkets are waterproof,” she whispered to herself while her skin adjusted to the hot temperature. “Well, are the rest of you coming in or not?” she hissed and turned to us, my eyes distracted with her perky buoys hovering afloat.

Hell, I wasn’t going to let her stay there all alone. I gave her a smile, then hauled my top over my head, the girls gasping in unison. It looked like Dessi was two seconds away from getting a nosebleed, her gawking sanguine eyes lost on my bare chest. If Rynn was going full commando, so would I, letting my briefs chase my trousers on the way down to the floor.

Oh my…” Aster purred, my body making it hard for the predictable demoness to look away.

Dessi couldn’t hide the mesmerized smile that found her flushed face. I turned around to Rynn, giving her my full frontal, the girl taking a step back with her head bashfully tilted down as I entered the pool with her.

Nothing like a fun tease to relieve the stress in a room filled with girls.

“Ah, shit,” I winced. “You took this heat better than I did, Rynn.”

“For a man known to get as hot as the sun’s surface?” Aster smirked. “You are totally bluffing.”

“There, now you’re not alone,” I said to Rynn, before picking her chin up with my finger. “It’s better if you look up. You’re making it hard for me already not to stare.” I smiled.

I rendered Rynn speechless, her lips hanging ajar as she tried not to look down at my chest.

Heh, the feeling was mutual.

“All right, that’s enough one on one time with you two. This was a group event if I remember correctly,” Aster said, obviously jealous. Then she turned to Dessi, who was still standing close to the front door, as solid as a rock. “Cutie, are you going to join us or not?” Aster grinned devilishly.

“O-o-okay,” she said, tip-toeing her way to us and grabbing one of the towels on the stack. “Let me just go change in the back room. I will be right back!” She dashed off, Aster taking the time to join us while I popped open the champagne glass with little effort.

“Lovely idea you have here, Liam,” Aster complimented. “A chance to get a peep show with a fine bottle of champagne.” She winked.

“Try to keep your alcohol in check this time,” I teased, handing her the first glass I poured. I then turned to Rynn after Aster took my offer, asking her, “Do you want a glass?”

“Y-yeah, sure.”

I gave her a glass, Rynn chugging it down in a flash. She belched, Aster letting out a cute little snicker. “Interesting observation.”

“Another,” Rynn requested, but just as I was about to pour her a second serving, Dessi came out.

She had a towel around her chest, her timid steps toward us telling me that she was still shy about being in the pool with us.

“Come in, Dessi, the water is fine,” I insisted, Dessi taking my word for it with a humble smile.

“Okay, Liam,” she said, dipping her foot inside the pool. Not an ankle in did I begin to notice something black on the stone floor behind her, a pool of tar-like black emerging underneath her towel. It hooked the hem of it just as Dessi plunged, stripping her towel off without the poor girl noticing.

She must have seen the tuck around her chest slipping too late, letting her tasty bits out in the open for all of us to see.

It was a quick second of awe before she covered herself and dropped inside the water confused, my hands reaching out to catch her embarrassing fall.

“Ahh!” she cried, her wet skin kissing mine on her way back to the surface.

Aster giggled. “Whoops! Looks like you lost your towel there, pinkie pie.” Aster’s construct left the building before Dessi could even grasp what the hell happened, and I felt guilty for chuckling on the inside from Aster’s little gag.

“Are you all right?” I asked Dessi.

“Y-eah, um, I’m okay,” she replied, letting her arms cover her breasts.

“What? You think you’re better than us, Miss goodie two shoes? That you can’t have your girlies hang out?” Aster teased.

“You’re the one to talk,” Dessi surprisingly snapped back with a sour face.

“Oh, come on! Loosen up!” Aster sang, taking Dessi from under her arms and smothering her from behind. “Besides, you have cute little squeezable tits, see?” She reached over and went for a full squeeze, making Dessi yelp and shirk forward.

“Don’t you have any manners?!”

“Hey, now it’s only fair that you take off that bathing suit, Aster,” I said deviously. “The rest of us are butt naked.”

“Oh Liam, if you wanted to see my goodies so badly, you should have asked me sooner,” she said in a sultry voice, snapping the front clasp of her bra in the steamy water. Things got a whole lot hotter, Aster’s huge and fleshy areolas pointing at me like beacons. “There.” She tossed her red trimmed black bra my way, letting my head catch it.

Sheesh those cups were so big, I could almost fit my head in one of them.

I tossed her top aside, ready to pour Dessi a glass without her asking. But then Rynn snatched the glass from me, guzzling it down again.

“Wait, wait, wait!” Aster cried. “At this rate, you’ll finish the entire bottle!”

“It’d only be fair. Seeing as you single handedly finished the red wine yesterday,” Rynn spat back.

“Stop exaggerating, and stop being selfish!” Aster said, bickering with Rynn again before she materialized a spider leg to scare her with.

It was only a matter of time before Aster would capitalize on this fear Rynn had, the pointy-eared girl lunging right into me, dropping her glass in the water in the process. Rynn yelped, grabbing onto me tightly, my instant reaction to sweep my arm around her back.

“I know you girls aren’t fighting over champagne,” I protested with a smile.

“You know what, you’re right,” Aster said, pushing Rynn aside. “We should be fighting over you…”

I froze. “What?”

“Don’t act all innocent, Liam. You knew exactly what you were doing by bringing all of us here. Using the feud Rynn and I had to cover up your horny little tracks.”

“Heh, I wouldn’t need to bring you all here for that if that were my intention.”

Her eyes went wide. “Liam, what are you saying?”

“Aster, don’t try to read between the lines and mince my words,” I said, giving her a raunchy look.

“But I’m hearing you loud and clear, sexy. You can’t deny the sexual tension. Why don’t you just cave in and… let it happen.”

Let it happen; I didn’t know why I had allowed Aster’s lewd look on her face and her sweet sugary voice to break me, meeting her halfway for that kiss she so badly wanted from the very first time we’d met. She was right, to some extent, but I was going to use my charm on them to get the group together. Seemed like the fastest way to make bonds. I hadn’t counted on being so incredibly interested, especially in a girl whose first intentions were to drain me dry.

I’d blame the raging hormones this time, trapping myself in a hot spring filled with three beautiful girls. That way, I wouldn’t feel terrible for feeling like anything more than some experiment, but rather, a human, with human emotions and desires…

But then I’d have to ask myself, if I detonated, would they survive my blast even with super powers? Was I willing to take that risk?

I savored that kiss, on the off chance I wouldn’t get to feel those soft lips pressed against mine again. No, I shouldn’t get involved; I should keep the same mindset, and treat them like I had treated Rachel…

When Aster broke our kiss she looked up to me dumbfounded. I could tell, she wasn’t expecting me to kiss her back, but she was glad I did.

“Waah!” Dessi bawled, tossing her hands over her shocked face. “How can you kiss our captain?!”

“How can I not?” Aster purred, her eyes still lost in mine.

“We have a mission,” Rynn said a few inches to the side of me, looking down at her Wizket. “And it’s urgent.”

“Screw that,” Aster retorted. “We just got here. Let Pamela find another squad to take up this assignment.”

“And let an opportunity to show The Brother’s Code that we aren’t worthless incompetent morons slip away?” Rynn bit back, pulling her naked body out of the water. “You can fondle Liam later. This mission is our chance to get on the top! I’m not about to let this one escape us!”

“Rynn’s right,” I agreed. “I think Pamela is giving us a chance here to prove ourselves. So we have to take it.”
