Chapter 5: [5] The Duel

I woke up feeling energetic now. After i get dressed and equip my weapon. I travel to the spot that my father ask me to go. 

"Hmm this should be place right? This look suspicious"

[Hmm i agree.]

I arrived at the destination to see no one else. I look everywhere but couldn't find my father at all. Could be my father playing a prank on me?

Until i feel a strong pressure behind me. I look back to see my father standing there with a smile.

"You have arrive. I was waiting for you"

My father pat me in the shoulder. My father signal me to follow him to the deepest of the forest. To find a bunch of dummy and finely crafted spear.

"Here is my secret training ground. It a place where i train regularly with my buddy."

He was laughing like a person that won the lottery or something. Afterward my father make me sit on a nearby stump. He then go to the middle of training ground.

"Follow after my movement."

He closed his eye and began emitting a strange aura with his spear and strike it at the poor dummy. It shot through the dummy leaving a clear hole on the body. I was amazed at the scene.

[Yeah you ain't defeating him anytime soon LOL]

 He walked to me and bring me to the training ground.

"I will show you how to master the Enchanted Aura"

My father position my posture as i hold the spear. 

"Now concentrate it to your spear. Try to imagine it like a water going through a river"

Following my father advice. I closed my eye and began concentrating my mana into my spear. It feel so relaxing being inside of my own consciousness.

While i was concentrating. My father look at me with excitement written all over his face when aura start forming in my spear.

*My son has a great talent. Im sure he will grow up to a capable warrior for the tribe. It make me wanna fight you even more*

I open my eye and strike the dummy with all of my strength.

*Woosh!* 

*BOOM!!!*

A big explosion happen at the dummy. Dust filled the sky as i cover my eye with my hand to prevent being blinded by the explosion. When i uncover my eye. The scene was uh disastrous. The dummy disappear into thin air and a long straight line was form at the direction i strike at. And a massive shockwave was swept across the forest. The spear broke as it can't handle too many mana at a time.

My father was standing there with shocked face. He can't believe the scene in front of him. For his son to master the skill for 5 Minutes. While he needed to master the skill for 7 year. It was unbelievable sight.

*I guess i shouldn't have used all of my strength. Im pretty sure i was found out*

He got a hold of himself. And finally gave me another spear after noticing it broke during using it.

"Uhh. Let's forget that never happen"

"Yeah i wish i can forget what happen too."

"Wait for me. I need to clear the misunderstanding first"

Father walk back to the path that lead back to the village.

Oh yeah the whole village was undergo defence formation thinking there was a strong monster coming from the shockwave earlier. Father later came to the guard to tell what was the source of the massive shockwave. The guard tell this to the elder and the elder later apologize to the citizen. After that everything went back to normal as always.

Anyway. After few minutes. My father came back. And smack me in the back.

"Don't do that again okay? But still im getting more proud of you"

I was almost caught for real. I was scared too you know. They might suspect me that im not a lizardman like them.

[That was actually a close one for real]

"Since you master the skill in matter of minute. It time to properly ask you for a duel! Will you accept the duel?"

"Yes"

"Alright, Lets start the duel right away!"

My father and i go to the other side to prepare the necessary equipment for the duel.

"Are you ready son?"

"Yes i am"

"Great. I will only use a portion of full power"

Father launch toward me with insane speed and strike the area near my body. I dodge it slightly got injured in the process. 

"For you to able dodge that my move. You are incredible"

I can't react due to how fast my father as even with a portion of his power. So i use my hardened scales skill to negate the damage.

[Attack his vulnerable point when by his body when he caught off guard!]

I dodge every of my father strike which making me tired. I decided to go offensive mode by using my Strengthen, Enchanted Aura and Warrior Fury skill. I strike with much power as i can to his body. Father sensed this dangerous power and jump to avoid getting hit by it.

"Huff. That was dangerous"

I charge toward my father. I decided to cast a fireball in the middle of striking.

"Fireball!"

A fireball was launched at the direction of my father. Of course my father dodge it with ease.

"Wow son you even learn magi-

Until he realize that behind him was me trying to strike while he was caught off guard. He has no option but to block it with the spear. I was flung back by the force of my strike and charge at him again. 

"Hmm look like i no choice but to release my full power"

My father pressure began to grow bigger. And he even faster than last time. He was able to reach me to the point my eye can't track him and strike me with maximum power. I was push back due to the overwhelming power. He charged at me without letting me get a time to breath. I can't dodge due to how fast he is. I need to keep blocking and strike him when the opportunity is righ- 

Until a sudden sharp spear appear beside me. Father suddenly was behind me and have his spear behind my neck. It was obvious, I lost the duel.

"Huh. I knew it i cannot defeat my father."

Father retract his spear from my neck and patted me in the shoulder.

"You still did a great job at dodging my move. Don't lose your focus on your enemy."

My vision was blurry. I was so exhausted. With Warrior fury ended i ended fainting on the spot

Father noticing this end up grabbing my body before i fall on the ground. Before Father was smiling happily

"You are the greatest son i had. Im proud of you as always."

My father bring me on his back to our home after i fainted. The next day after the duel. I sleep for 1 day due to just how exhausted i was. I still felt tired but not exhausted as much to see my father with alot of slap marking in front of me. I ask him why do he have many slap mark on his body.

"It becaus-

My mother came to my room interrupting my father.

"Oh son. I am sorry for your father behavior. You must be hungry, i have prepare food for you. Just rest for the time being."

My mother was a bit worried about me. While father there just scared of my mother.

"And you there. Don't you ever do something troublesome to my son okay?"

My mother glance at my father laying down in the floor. He look so scared by looking at her eye. I guess even with great strength cannot even beat affection and love.

[Hey! are you okay? i was scared when you fainted on the spot]

*Yeah im fine. It rarely to see you caring for me.*

[Hmph. This is a special occasion! i was genuinely worried about you and you have time to joke with this??]

*Haha i get it system. Thank for caring for me*

A lizardman was standing outside of the house. It was the time for the yearly tournament to begin. And every tribe will receive a invitation to join. The elder has called for me and the rest of the member to gather near the town square.

I was asked to stand up next to the elder same with a shy female lizardman which are less stronger in physical but strong at doing magic skill. Her name is Lena

"Tomorrow gonna be the day that yearly tournament begin again. The contestant for the tournament will be Lacertus and Lena. Lets all of us wish them good luck to them."

The crowd of lizardman cheer in excitement.

"That is all i have to announce."

All the lizardman began doing their normal routine again. Until the Lena approach me feeling nervous.

"Hello. My name is uh Le-na.  Lets hope we can work together for the tournament! May i uh ask for your name?"

The lizardman was pretty nervous and shy.

"My name is Lacertus. Nice to meet you Lena. Lets work together in the tournament!"

"Thank you! I have to go back home now. Lets meet each other again in the tournament! See you"

Lena sprint to the way of her house while waving goodbye at me. It was heartwarming feeling. 

[Ho oh. Look someone gonna get a pretty girlfriend today?]
