About a minute or two later I exit the cave entrance to Vault 101 with my small army of bots following right behind me and what comes into view from our somewhat elevated position is a gray barren wasteland as far as the eye can see.

Though I can see the town of Springvale a much further distance than where it was in the games as well as it being far larger with many more buildings that are in varying degrees of disrepair or collapse and a bit further out is the Megaton settlement though that is also much larger from what I can tell as well.

After looking around the area for several more minutes I open the map on my Pip-Boy to see where I need to head exactly and what roads to take. The Pip-Boy then displays a satellite view of the capital wasteland that is about 68 square miles or 109.435 km with a ton of different locations highlighted on the map.

Hmm, let's see what route I need to take to get to the RobCo Facility. After a bit of fumbling with the Pip-Boy later, I find I can just take a main road to the west that then branches to the south where the RobCo Facility is located, and with how fast my bots and I will be traveling it shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours to arrive there as long as we don’t encounter any hostiles.

But let me see what the limits of the map are. I then started zooming out the map which then displayed part of the state of Maryland and Virginia with more and more new highlighted locations popping in, the further I zoomed out. Several seconds later I’m staring at a map of the earth with innumerable locations spread across its surface along with several hundred locations that are moving around the orbit of the planet.

Oh, I even have the option to zoom out further though that can wait since I have no use for anything located outside of earth for now. I spend several more minutes checking out all the additional functions and features that the Pip-Boy map has before finally closing it and heading down the road east towards the town of Springvale.

As I’m heading down the road I can’t help but think it’s kind of a waste of time to visit Megaton right now since it’s probably not a great idea to roll up on them with a small army behind me and I would like to make a good impression when I do so I might as well just head directly to my main destination.

When we start getting close to Springvale I scan the buildings to see if there are any potential threats but there doesn’t seem to be much life here other than some rad roaches and some feral dogs which flee at the sight of us coming into town.

After a few minutes, we reach the main cross-section of town without issue and head north towards the Springvale school which I remember had a decent raider presence in the game though I don’t know if that’s the case here as well.

A couple minutes later we’re still about 100 meters out from the school when I notice a male raider up on top of the partially collapsed school who appears to be the lookout though he’s not doing a very good job of that since he appears to be asleep in a beat-up school chair.

“Alright, guys hold up for a second.” I said before they all came to halt while I started to contemplate.

Well, there are a few ways I can go about this situation since there is no way we’re getting through without making some noise that would alert them to our presence. The first option would be to turn back and go south through the Fairfax Ruins which we’re crawling with raiders in the game and I know for sure one of them had a missile launcher which on the off chance that there are enough of them they could overwhelm the defenses on Hauler which would be a massive set back I don’t want to deal with, So that's out.

The second option is I can go in and clear them out which I doubt they will have anything all that difficult for me to handle but I don’t really want to waste all that much time here so that’s also out.

The third and final option is I can draw them out and just slaughter them along with my robots help and that would be a hell of a lot easier as well as faster. I could also use this to test out whether I gain any xp from my robots killing enemies and hopefully, that's the case otherwise I’m going to have to tag everything before they kill it which would be a huge pain in the ass.

I think over my ideas and go with my third plan which is to draw them out so I have most of the bots get set up in the nearby buildings along with Hauler pulling himself into a nearby alleyway that is wide enough to accommodate his size. Once all the robots are in position I set down Mulcher for a second and retrieve my Anti-Material Rifle.

After retrieving my Anti-Material Rifle I take aim at the passed-out raider’s chest on the top of the partially collapsed school and fire one shot which then releases a deafening gunshot while the bullet has already flown to its destination that being the male raider’s chest cavity.

And before he could fly over what I presume to be the edge of the collapsed floor that he was on, his back burst open with blood and pieces of flesh spraying everywhere before he was then thrown out of his chair and off of the building where I couldn’t see him anymore but I knew he was more than dead that’s for sure.

I waited a few moments to see if I would feel some sort of sadness or some other negative feeling for killing my first person, But I didn’t really feel much of anything other than maybe a bit of satisfaction from removing a blight on the world and getting some xp.

I then put back my Anti-Material Rifle and picked back up my Mulcher and got ready for any coming raiders that may come out of the front entrance of the school. After waiting for about three minutes a group of 24 pissed-off raiders came storming out of the front entrance of the school.

While they were busy trying to locate where the shot came from I spooled my gatling gun that was already aimed in the general direction they were standing and let loose a hail of .308 bullets at 6,000 rpm for a few seconds. Where they were then ripped and torn to pieces almost instantly without any chance to react. Though I did leave one left alive to test whether or not I can gain xp from my robots killing things.

I then opened up my Pip-Boy to check how much xp I had gotten from slaughtering that group of raiders going through the usual freezing of time. A few moments later I looked at my experience points that are now sitting at a total of 47,340 which would mean I received on average 75 xp per raider which isn’t all that bad.

Though I do wonder how much a super mutant behemoth will be worth once I get around to killing the ones I’m aware of but I could also maybe try my hand at possibly controlling them though it may not be worth time and effort in the end.

Ding! Level Up

Oh and a new level too nice. I would spend it now but I will hold off on leveling up until I reach my destination, the RobCo Facility so I can have some time to think about what to best spend it on.

After looking at a couple of other things in my Pip-Boy I closed the holographic screen displaying my stats unfreezing time. When time resumed I gave the signal to my bots to finish off the one raider left which immediately triggered a laser light show on another level that then resulted in the last remaining raider becoming a literal pile of ash and a decent size scorch mark on the pavement.

Time to check whether or not I received any xp from that kill. A short time later after going through the usual Pip-Boy time freeze I found that I do in fact receive the full amount of xp from them eliminating a target, Though I don’t know if it will count for things that I haven’t constructed like the Protectron units that I will take over when I get control of the mainframe at the RobCo Facility, that will have to be tested at a later date and if I don’t I’ll just scrap them for their resources.

Moving on from that a few more minutes pass but no more raiders show up so I presume that was all of them and reload my weapons. After I finish reloading I give the signal for all the bots to come out along with Hauler and when they’re all back in position that I had them in we head out towards the north so we can reach the main road that will lead us to our destination.

About 50 minutes later.

Well, we haven’t encountered much danger other than the occasional group of mindless Bloatflies and one Yao Guai so far that were handled very easily by the bots though the Yao Guai did tank quite a few more beams than the Bloatflies but that was to be expected since they’re mutated bears after all. As we continued heading west down the road we passed by the Jury Street Metro Station before I spotted something in the distance on top of a building.

So I took out my Anti-Material Rifle again and looked down the scope to figure out what exactly is in the distance.

“Hmm would you look at that more raiders but this time they’re on the roof of a shop, well I guess it’s time to do some more shooting.” I said aloud while lowering my rifle and also getting a response from Hauler.

“Do you want us to take care of them, boss?” To which I replied.

“Nah I got it this time can’t let you guys have all the fun.”

I said lastly before raising my Anti-Material Rifle and adjusting the range of the gun to 1,000 meters since that was about the distance I was getting from the in-built range finder in my helmet. Once the range was adjusted I aimed at the left-most raider’s chest first and took one shot. About a little more than a second later while I was chambering a new round I saw the raider I had just taken a shot at fly off the side of the building most likely dead.

After he sailed off the roof I lined up another shot on the raider directly to his right and pulled the trigger. A repeat of what happened to the previous raider happened again a little more than a second later, when the second raider flies off the side of the roof the last remaining raider finally notices what’s going on and makes an attempt to flee to the back of the roof where I remember there being a ladder hatch.
