Chapter 11

Genesis awoke in their bed. She groans, one hand going across her face to rub it. Yeah, she was still a bit sore. The events of last night come back to her in small spurts; fighting the Captain took a lot out of her. An opponent like that to Hurst would've been like kicking a baby. Yet she and Gree both fought and killed the man. She remembers being escorted out by a smaller crew, brought to the Needle, and given immediate medical attention. Her body was more robust than other races, so she didn't need much of it. In fact, she really needed food and a high-calorie intake. Sure, medicine and bandages helped, but her body could directly use the mass she eats and convert it into energy.

She was so out of it she devoured at least four MREs on the way back to the Lab. There she was given mild mending and left to her own devices to heal afterward. She does not remember what happened with Gree, though. She sighed. She got up and went to the restroom to look herself over, especially where the nasty wounds were. She was naked in the reflection. She's not sure why she slept this way - she doesn't usually do that. But the worst wound that had scorched her inner bone and carved an ugly line across her arm was still in the form of a scabbed-over mess. The rest of her cuts and lacerations turned out to be much milder. They disappeared, leaving flawless skin. Nevertheless, her wounded arm still hurt to move too much.

Looks like there's no training today. Just relaxation. Then a reminder popped up in the corner of her vision.

Like a game alert, there was a warning sign that flashed slowly as if to get her attention. Alright then, she'll bite. She wills her stat screen to show itself.
