Jiang Wangshu returned home with the thermos in hand. After sitting on the sofa for a while, he opened the bucket and poured the sea cucumber porridge into a bowl.

This thermos had been used for a few years, so its heat preservation effects weren’t as good as it once was. After so long, the porridge had already cooled down, but it was fine. You don’t need to drink hot porridge in summer anyways.

Jiang Wangshu finished the porridge, rolled up his sleeves, washed the bowl and thermos, then stuffed them neatly into the cabinet.

This was a three bedroom apartment, a very spacious one at that. They also kept their beautiful cat here.

This little one was bought by Duan Xiuze. Jiang Wangshu didn’t really like cats before. Duan Xiuze had to beg him for a long time before Jiang Wangshu agreed to it.

Duan Xiuze was responsible for the cat’s needs. Its food, drink, diet, toys, and everything else were all handled by him. Jiang Wangshu never intervened, but even so, the cat was very fond of him. Compared to Duan Xiuze, the one who fed him, it acted noble and cold, ignoring him day in, day out.

While Duan Xiuze was hospitalized, Jiang Wangshu took over the job of feeding the cat and cleaned up its litter.

Now that Duan Xiuze had lost his memory. He’s afraid that he would also forget about this cat.

Just as he was thinking about it, Jiang Wangshu’s phone rang. He opened it and found that it was Duan Xiuze’s WeChat message. He had sent him several photos of the cat and asked, “Is this cat mine?”

Jiang Wangshu paused and replied, “It is.”

Duan Xiuze said, “Yo fck, I love cats! What’s his name?”

Jiang Wangshu said, “Wang Ba Dan[1].”

Duan Xiuze: “…”

Jiang Wangshu: “You named it.”

Duan Xiuze: “… Sounds like a name I’d choose.”

He continued, “No, I still think it’s strange. How could we get married?”

Jiang Wangshu turned to the marriage certificate and took a picture of it for Duan Xiuze. “It’s a tied knot. What about it?”

Duan Xiuze opened the file. It turned out that it was their marriage certificate. In the photo, he was smiling like a fool, while Jiang Wangshu was expressionless as always.

Tch, It looks like I’m head over heels for him in this, Duan Xiuze thought.

Jiang Wangshu asked him, “Anything else?”

Concerned, Duan Xiuze thought, Is this how you talk to your partner?

Besides, he was still bedridden in the hospital right now. He typed and asked, “What happened these past few years? Didn’t we have a fight some time ago?”

“Fight?”

“Did you forget? You sent me to the hospital.”

Jiang Wangshu remembered that it wasn’t exactly a fight. The two of them had an argument because of some trivial things; Duan Xiuze knew that he was obsessed with cleanliness and deliberately poured a glass of juice on him. He got angry and swung a punch at him. But of course he didn’t put much strength into the blow.

Duan Xiuze grabbed his hands and refused to let him hit him.

The two scuffled and fell to the ground. As they struggled on top of each other, he had the brilliant idea to lift his knee towards Duan Xiuze. That single hit ended up sending him straight to the hospital, but fortunately, there wasn’t any serious problems.

As Jiang Wangshu didn’t reply, Duan Xiuze added, “You’re really cruel, but you should really thank me for not telling my mother. I’m different from you. I won’t complain.”

“Yes, yes, you are nobler than I, the wicked ruthless villain.”

“Hey, I never said that.”

Jiang Wangshu asked once more, “Anything else?”

“Can’t I have a chat with you? I went through the blacklist on my phone, I blocked all of my relatives and friends. It’d be embarrassing to contact them now.”

Jiang Wangshu was curious, “Aren’t you embarrassed to chat with me?”

Duan Xiuze contently said, “What’s there to be embarrassed of?”

“We are married, we’re partners. We’ve done everything partners would and could do. Now you’re casually chatting with me, are you not embarrassed?”

Duan Xiuze: “….”

He hesitated for a moment and asked, “Have we slept together?”

Jiang Wangshu replied with a short, “Yes.”

“….”

Duan Xiuze was in denial, “Well, it’s not me who slept with you. I’m seventeen and a minor. I can’t have that kind of relationship with people yet. I’m pure.”

Jiang Wangshu: “Oh.”

Duan Xiuze felt that Jiang Wangshu was a little too calm. His partner had just lost his memory, shouldn’t he have a bigger reaction? He’d already suspected that Jiang Wangshu was messing with him, but he couldn’t have brought his best friend into it, could he?

Duan Xiuze ended up changing the subject as he asked, “Why was I hospitalized?”

“A drunk-driving accident. The other party will take full responsibility and go to prison. Don’t worry, you’ll get compensation for it.”

Duan Xiuze didn’t reply, so Jiang Wangshu asked again, “Any more?”

As soon as this sentence popped on screen, Duan Xiuze could sense Jiang Wangshu’s impatience. He felt a bit wronged, but wrote,  “… No, that’s enough.”

“OK, I’ll be busy. Help yourself.”

Duan Xiuze: “….”

He looked at the nickname “His Highness’ First Wife” on WeChat with an inexplicable feeling in his heart. How nonsensical, he thought, so he changed it back to Jiang Wangshu.

A few days later, Jiang Wangshu went to pick up Duan Xiuze and go through the discharge formalities for him.

Duan Xiuze changed into the clothes Jiang Wangshu brought him. Although his head, neck and arms were wrapped in gauze, making him look absolutely miserable, his appearance was so exceptionally good that he still attracted many curious eyes.

Jiang Wangshu packed up his clothes along with some sundries and took him out of the hospital. As he got on a taxi, Jiang Wangshu asked, “Do you want to go back to our house or find a hotel?”

Duan Xiuze asked, “Do you always take a taxi to go places? Didn’t I give you money when we got married? Can’t you buy a car?”

Jiang Wangshu looked at him. He said calmly, “It’s more convenient. Fuel prices are expensive, and finding a parking space is a hassle.”

When Duan Xiuze heard this, he subconsciously frowned.

“So do you want to go back to our house or stay in a hotel?”

Duan Xiuze glanced at him and said, “Hotel. I want a five-star presidential suite.”

Jiang Wangshu nodded. “Okay, I’ll send you 50000. You can stay for a few days. Go and take these clothes. If you need anything else, just tell me. I’ll send them to the hotel.”

After that, he stuffed the luggage into Duan Xiuze’s uninjured hand, and then got on the taxi. Finally, he remembered to ask Duan Xiuze through the window, “Do you know how to take a taxi?”

Duan Xiuze said forcefully, “Are you kidding? Of course I do.”

Jiang Wangshu said, “Oh, good. I won’t have to teach you again.”

He then let the taxi drive ahead.

The taxi was a very common type of car. Its quality is poor. When it started, a large pipe of tail gas came out and sprayed all over Duan Xiuze’s face.

Duan Xiuze covered his mouth and nose and walked back a few steps until Jiang Wangshu’s car disappeared into the sea of traffic. He found a shaded area full of trees and put down his luggage. He then browsed through Baidu, how does one take a taxi?

After the Baidu search, he opened the WeChat taxi app and found that he had several past orders. He couldn’t help but get a bit skeptical – he, Duan Xiuze, had never taken a taxi himself in the past decade or so.

In his garage, his parents gave him more than 100 cars from childhood to adulthood. Any car he took out would never cost less than five million. They were all luxury cars. But after he married Jiang Wangshu, he was reduced to taking taxis?

It’s a bit upsetting.

Duan Xiuze took the taxi to a five-star hotel with the highest rating nearby. Jiang Wangshu also sent him the money. He was about to scan the code to pay when he suddenly thought of something. If he ran away from home and his cards were frozen by his parents, wouldn’t it be like Jiang Wangshu was raising him now?

After all, according to his hedonistic character, it was undoubtedly impossible for him to take taxis.

Once he had the idea, Duan Xiuze felt very reluctant to use the money. He said to the confused attendant, “Hold on.”

He gave Jiang Wangshu a call, which was answered quite quickly. Jiang Wangshu’s somewhat cold voice asked, “What is it?”

Duan Xiuze listened to his tone and felt a little annoyed. His tone turned a bit sour, “Is the money mine or yours?”

“Is there a difference?”

“Of course there is. If it’s your money, how could I use it to stay in a five-star hotel?”

Jiang Wang slightly hesitated before saying, “It’s yours.”

Duan Xiuze let out his breath. He then asked, “Why’s my money with you?”

“You handed it in.”

Duan Xiuze: “…”

Jiang Wangshu asked, “Is that it? I’ll hang up if it is.”

Duan Xiuze wanted to say more, but before he could, Jiang Wangshu had already hung up.

Duan Xiuze: “….”

Jiang Wangshu hung up the phone, and stared at the name “Annoying One” for a while before changing it back to “Duan Xiuze”

“Boss, you’re back? Aren’t you busy?”

Jiang Wangshu raised his eyes and saw that it was Zhao Yu, his newly hired secretary. He said vaguely, “Change of plans.”

Zhao Yu peered at his face and asked, “Boss, did you quarrel with your partner?”

Jiang Wangshu faintly frowned. He glanced at Zhao Yu, and handed him a stack of documents. “Print these in 20 minutes. Today’s meeting will be postponed for an hour.”

Zhao Yu, knowing that Jiang Wangshu was probably upset, took the document and left.

Jiang Wangshu was lost in thought as he looked at the photo of him and Duan Xiuze together on the table.

When he was 17, what was his relationship with Duan Xiuze like?

They could barely speak normally. They couldn’t stay together without quarreling about something, anything. After so long, they were simply revolted by each other’s existence. They couldn’t even say they were friends, let alone having feelings beyond friendship.

Jiang Wangshu had a hunch that his marriage with Duan Xiuze wouldn’t last long if he couldn’t restore his memory as soon as possible.

He wanted to save it, he really did, but their love was a chemical reaction superimposed by various events. At this point in time, he no longer had the ability to remake that reaction.

Jiang Wangshu was obstinate but powerless.

He was about to take a taxi home when Zhao Yu appeared in front of him in his sports car. He asked in a low voice, “Boss, do you want me to give you a ride?”

Jiang Wangshu refused, “No, thank you.”

His appearance was sharp and beautiful, perfect without dead corners nor flaws. He didn’t have double eyelids, but his danfeng eyes were still incredibly mesmerizing.

They easily showed a sense of nonchalance, making him seem cold and aloof. What’s more, he rarely showed emotion and was naturally indifferent, so the whole person seemed even more distant and out of reach.

It’s just that Jiang Wangshu may not realize that he was unbelievably attractive, and how… easy it was for him to attract people who overestimate themselves.

Zhao Yu was lost in his abyss-like eyes. He invited him again as if he didn’t hear his refusal, “Boss, it’ll be on the way. Let me just send you—”

Before he finished, Jiang Wangshu answered his phone. He then said to Zhao Yu, “My taxi is here. You should hurry back and be careful on the way.”

With that, he left without looking back.

Jiang Wangshu got on the taxi and glanced at his phone. Duan Xiuze would always call him at this time. This part of their daily routine might end up being one that only he remembers.

Just when he was thinking about it, Duan Xiuze’s call suddenly came.

He took a breath and answered the phone. Duan Xiuze asked loudly, “No, I wanted to ask before. How often did we do it before?”

Jiang Wangshu: “…?”

“It used to be very pink! Now it’s all discolored!”

Jiang Wangshu made eye contact with the driver through the rear-view mirror, he obviously heard Duan Xiuze’s voice. With a dark face, he said, “What do you want me to do? Just chop it off if you don’t like it,” before immediately hanging up.

Duan Xiuze: “???”

“Shit? He hung up on me again!”
