Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Alura flew through the air and landed on her back with a thud.

Nero slowly approached her while training his eyes on her, "You leave yourself too open when you go for your second punch. It is too easy to counter"

Alura got to her feet and took a fighting stance that resembled Muay Thai.

Nero gestured her to attack him with his right hand and she rushed in.

Her first punch was parried by Nero who then raised his left hand to his face which blocked Alura's second follow up punch. He saw an opening and attempted to sweep her left leg but Alura countered it by raising her leg in that manner similar to the crane stance. Using that slight window of opportunity, she delivered a middle kick to Nero who countered it by holding onto her shin. He then tossed Alura to the side while still holding onto her leg.

Alura slowly got up again and dusted herself off.

Nero sighed then rushed towards her at full speed. Alura braced herself for the first attack that seemed like it was a middle punch but it was a fake out planned by him. He then quickly switched to a high punch. Alura didn't have time to react so she prepared to tank the hit but Nero stopped his fist near millimeters from her soft skin then dropped it.

He then turned around, "You still have a lot to learn. Even though you're from the Iron Warrior Tribe that doesn't mean you will automatically be good at fighting or be able to fully use your Iron strength technique but you are still developing nicely"

Hearing Nero's proud words made Alura happy. She was sure he would have dropped her from his party if she wasn't living up to his expectations.

Alura then curiously asked, "Mr Nero, why did you choice to duel Miss Julia?"   

Nero placed a finger on his left cheek and thought about it for a while, "To tell you the truth, since coming to this city. I have always looked up to her due to her strength. She is a remarkable human being. I believe she is close to my age and is already a level 4 and probably heading to level 5 soon. Progression like that is to be admired. You can say this is just a test to myself before I head back into the dungeon or accept any Guild tasks.

Alura, "I guess I will have to work harder as well" and sat down on the ground.

Nero looked down at her, "I just need you to get strong enough so you won't die in battle. You didn't free yourself only to die an early death. Leave that for people like myself"

Alura looked up at Nero as he said that, "Sir Nero why do you think that you may die an early death?'

Nero pulled her up and said, "Let's just say that the blood in my veins are screaming it"

Alura was confused by that statement kept quiet.

Nero continued, "You don't have to attend the duel. I would prefer if you stayed at Emi's house until she gets back"

Alura pouted her lips, "I think I would like to observe the match and see if I can learn anything from it"

Nero chuckled a bit, "Fine have it your way, after all you are allowed to make your own decisions" 

They made their way to the arena.

There were scores of people talking and making bets for the match between them.

Walking through the crowd Nero could hear them.

"Isn't that the white hair kid that is going to duel Julia?"

"I got 4 gold coins that she wins with no effort"

"Still isn't he the former level 1 who single handedly killed the floor 15 boss Razor Back?"

Alura tugged a bit on Nero's white half cloak, "Look they are talking about you"

"Just ignore the annoying chatter, they just want to see a good match and that match for them is Julia defeating me with ease"

"Do you think you can win against her?"

Nero kept walking, "I think it may end in a absolute trump for her"

"So you're going just to lose?"

"I wouldn't say that, it is still along the lines of what I said earlier when I was training with you. I just want an opportunity to challenge myself without too much risk"

After a few minutes of walking. They approached the arena which was a huge colosseum like structure.  

Before they could enter, Nero spotted Emi standing by the entrance they were about to use.

She had her arms crossed and tapped her left foot

"Crap she must have heard about it" Nero thought to himself.

He braced for the scolding he was about to receive when he approached her.

Slowly but surely he inched his way to her.

"YOU THERE!" she exclaimed when she saw him.

"Ello" 

"Ello? That's all you have to say for yourself?"

"Fine. I am going to duel Julia now"

Emi replied, "You don't say. Well thanks for informing me"

Nero sighed, "I can take the scolding later but right now I have to go" then left, leaving Alura with Emi.

Alura laughed a bit nervously, "I think you scared him"

Emi, "Well not enough because he is still going dumb things"  

Nero entered the Arena and was directed into the fighter's corridor which is used to enter the central arena of the colosseum .

The male who directed him, observed Nero and said, "Where's your weapon?"

Nero gave himself a face palm, "I forgot to bring one but I am sure one will be provide for me"

The male said "That is correct" then led him into the weapons room.

Nero entered the large room filled with an assortments of weapons ranging from long range to short range weapons.

He walked along each row, "Bows, Axes, Maces, Lances, Spears. Wow they even have pole axes"

Nero then spotted what he wanted to use.

It was a sabre type blade.

He picked up the curved blade that was gold with a white hilt and swung it a bit.

"Yup this will do nicely enough"

The male said "Good now get out there. The match is about to start"

He led Nero through the hallway and they approached a gate.

The male whistled and the gate creaked opened slowly.

"You may now enter"

Taking a deep breath, Nero walked forward into the dueling arena.
