Chapter 2: Chapter 2 – Loss Of an Eye

The river was a bright song of clear water, reflecting the bright sun’s light, with the nearby trees sufficing for good shade. I wandered around the campsite, memorizing its location and impeding it in my mind. It was rather silent.

I briskly moved my hands towards a tree, the tree was humongous, comparable to the size of a small building. I began to climb the tree, it was rather tedious, taking more than 30 minutes, and was very tiring.

After climbing the tree's peak, I observed the far lands of the environment, with a large mountain range to the north and a large desert to the southeast. Observing, Wade understood what he was going to do, ‘Improve his skills by fighting, and by helping his teammates improve’. This was his challenge, he was curious about how much he could do.

“Whatever,” Wade replied, tired after constant climbing for an hour.

They began east, still within the vast forest, running moderately fast.

“…”, it was a rather awkward environment with no talking

“Since we are teammates and all, I want to get you to know you two more.” Wade broke the awkward silence, trying to spark up a conversation.

“What do you want to know about me?” Brandt replied briskly, “Do you want to know, my interests, or my skills?”.

“… Skills? Can you cook or anything of that sort?” I responded after a few seconds of consideration.

“I can cook, and craft things, and I know how to use a spear in fighting” Brandt answered. “What can you do?”, returning the question to Wade.

“That's impressive, the only thing I can do is basic sword moves” I responded to the answer slowly.

Yuki entered the conversation by answering his question also, “I know how to use a gun and have as a soldier for a while, I also have a hobby with gardening”, answering in a cold demeanor.

“…”

She sheepishly looked at us and said, “Is there anything wrong with gardening?”.

Brandt replied, “Um… No, it's just you don’t look like the person to really gar-”.

The talking was interrupted by a large explosion about 350 meters away, we all fell silent and took cover, observing a fight between two groups of players, I never expected to encounter them this early in the game.

I was able to easily notice the details of the fight, with 3 people fighting another trio, it was a close battle. One of the players used a stick encompassed with dark fire, and another with a crude bow exuding moonlight.

It seemed as these players were dangerous, and we all understood each other to retreat, but another player noticed us and started charging.

It was one of the players with a dangerous, ability, precisely the one with dark fire.

I ran as fast as I could in the other direction, holding a worthless twig, which could do nothing to help my situation. This psycho was chasing after me instead of fighting that battle?!? “Hey! Stop sleeping and wake up, you idiot!” Brandt nudged with his leg while wondering if I was worth all this trouble of coming back.

“Ugh, that hurt to all pain worth…”, I muttered, slowly opening my eyes after Brandt’s consistent nudging.

There was a problem though, I couldn’t see through my right eye, and it was pitch black, I slowly stood up and observed the surroundings,’ it was the same as before.’ was my only thought.

After a few seconds I realized the situation, my right eye has been burned, and I tried to open my left eye. Stung with searing pain, but I eventually was able to open it.

I began to follow Brandt back to the camp, where he was able to construct a fire and get some food from hunting.

After entering the camp, my stomach began to rumble, hungry from lack of food for 1 ½ days.

Noticing this, Yuki, who was in the middle of breakfast, begrudgingly gave me some of her food. She slightly pouted as she handed over the piece of meat, Wade chuckled in his mind due to her pouting.

“Thanks” Wade replied as Yuki handed him the piece of food. “It's fine” She replied, though clearly not enjoying the loss of some of her food.

Brandt has also made some crude weapons, which he planned to let him and Wade use, because of their habit of relying on weapons. He grabbed a basic sword with rusty metal iron that they had gotten on an expedition.

I grabbed the sword and its rough sheath, moving to a quiet environment as he ate his food. He then called for the panel on his character stats, inspecting the skill, Kendo, has gotten.
