"Here you are Young Master, I have brought what you requested."
A young man dressed in black bowed courteously as his hands were extended holding a bundle of black clothing up to Canzhi. The area around them was loud and crowded. It was early in the morning, yet the harbor was already filled with fisherman selling their fresh catches in small tubs of water.
"Thanks for getting it here," Canzhi says as he takes the clothes from the disciple's hand.
"Sect Leader Gui said to give Young Master Yuan our sect's clothing as it would be non-expensive and should work as it is supposed to."
"Please let Mother know I appreciate her thoughtfulness."
Canzhi waves his hand in dismissal and sends the disciple off back to the Sect.
"I guess you are now temporarily a disciple under the Xingjun Sect, hope you do not mind it."
Canzhi gives Hengning a little smile.
Hengning looks at the bundle of clothing now in his arms.
"Are you youngsters waiting for a ride to the Golden City?"
A grey-haired old man rowed towards them on a small boat the size of a fishing boat but with the seating area designed into a small room for comfortable travel. Canzhi looked around at the area. No other boat than this one had come up to them.
"This Mister has a good eye, we are indeed looking for a way to cross the lake into the Golden City."
The old mister smiled kindly and stuck out his hand,
"It won't be cheap Young Master, can you afford a ferry into the Capital City?"
Canzhi smirks, "Money is not a problem," he holds up a pouch and shakes it; he made sure the old man heard the crisp clicks that the bag emitted.
"How generous! Get on now young masters, I will make sure this boat is the first one to dock."
Canzhi and Hengning step onto the boat as the old man puts two fingers against his lips and chants something.
The boat immediately began to move smoothly across the water's surface, almost as if this old master was manipulating the water to move the boat without shaking it whatsoever.
Canzhi stared wide-eyed at the elder.
"Hengning had no idea this elder was a master, such control can only be attained by one who has dedicated themselves to cultivation!"
Hengning gave the old man a respectful bow.
The old man laughs and points at the bundle of clothing still in Hengning's arms,
"I see you've got to something you should change into, don't worry I am too old to be meddling in you young people's affairs."
"Thank you for the reminder."
Hengning moves swiftly within the hooded seating area and begins to change.
"Great elder, forgive me for being blindsided. This one would like to know, how much for you to teach me this little manipulation trick of yours?"
Canzhi asks slyly.
"Never."
Canzhi stares at the old man in annoyance for a minute before giving up
"Arriving at The Floating Golden City! "
The old master announces,
"Don't forget to pay your fare~"
"How much?"
"5 gold ingots."
"...Fine."
Reluctant to let go of his precious gold ingots, Canzhi hands the elder 5 pieces. However, he takes only two.
"A discount for Young Master Hengning."
The man bows deeply to Hengning who just got off the boat dressed in a loose solid black cultivator's robe.
"Ah, what have I done to earn such respect, please get up!"
Hengning gestures the bowing elder up and lets him explain.
"Young masters, I was once a disciple of the Yinhe sect, ever since I left with your father in exile, I decided to never go back."
The old man looked down dejectedly,
"Until I heard your father was off exile, I was going to go back to congratulate him, only to find out that the sect was left with ashes..."
Canzhi observes Hengning's face, looking for a reaction, but keeps quiet, thinking inside. He only saw Hengning silently gripping the blade that hung on his waist.
"I recognized you from afar Young Master Hengning, because of your sword, for only those with your father's bloodline can have a sword of that design!"
The old man looks at Hengning intently,
"I'd like to ask only one thing, is your father well?"
Hengning's gaze softens, and answers, "Do not worry, he is as healthy as can be."
The old man looked comforted. "Then all is good, all is good."
He finally turns away and begins to steer the boat back to the harbor.
Only from the back of the boat did Canzhi see three metal plates filled with energy propelling the water smoothly.
"Let's head in." Canzhi signals Hengning to follow him and they continue on.
"Token of identity please."
The guard asks, Canzhi takes out his token engraved with a big golden character, 'Xu'.
"We welcome the Young Master of the Xingjun sect and your companion?"
"This is my bodyguard, a disciple of the sect."
The guard narrows his eyes on Hengning. What a lean-looking man, can he really be a bodyguard?
"Can I take a look at his token?"
"Oh, um..."
Canzhi quickly taps at Hengning's right thigh to signal that he has a token.

Hengning understood and takes his token out, on the center is a big silver engraved character, 'Yuan'.
Did Canzhi plan this out already..?
Hengning stares at the character on the token before handing it to the guard,
"Here. This is my badge."
The guard flips the badge front and back, before nodding.
"It looks authentic enough. Are you guys bringing anything inside the city?"
"He just has a sword, as a bodyguard should."
"And a Qiankun pouch."
You dummy! Why would you tell him you have a pouch like that?! I'll have to teach him more about the real world...
"Oh? May you please open it and let us see its contents?"
His sword must be inside his Qiankun pouch! If the guards see that sword...
Too late. The guard opens up the pouch and inside they find,
"Nothing but food and clothing..."
"Alright Young Master Xu and his bodyguard, you both may pass. Welcome to the Golden Capital City, and enjoy your stay."
"Many thanks."
Hengning drags a dumbfounded Canzhi toward the extravagant gold painted torii gate.
Canzhi garbs Hengning by the shoulders, "How did you do it?"
"Do what?"
"Your sword, where is it?"
"On my waist...ah,"
Hengning closes his eyes and extends his arm, he closes his fingers but before they form a fist, a shining sheath appears and his divine weapon has reappeared on his hand.
"I almost forgot about it, thank you for reminding me. I had left it on the boat while I was changing, and the sword that your mother prepared was conveniently there, so I never realized it was gone."
"How could you just forget your divine weapon?!"
Hengning shrugged, "It always comes back."
Canzhi didn't know whether to laugh or cry,
"Well, we got through the guards so, quickly now, put that sword away and act like a bodyguard, that means no casually talking to your master and always following me around."
"Sure."
Hengning snaps his fingers and his divine weapon disappears in a flash of light.
They made their way up the Infinite Steps toward the main island that floated above the water.
"Is your father famous?"
"I thought you said not to-"
"Just answer this question."
Hengning sighs,
"He was the top disciple of the Yinhe sect before his exile and the Sect's eventual destruction."
"So Brother Hengning is much more of an important figure than I thought!"
"No, no, I am still just a mere commoner, same as my father. Currently, we have no sects to be called masters of."
"Is Brother Hengning's mother an important figure as well? How about all those techniques that Brother Hengning had used? Were they part of the Yinhe Sect's secret arts? Is the Cultivation Manual that Brother Hengning in search of also- "
Hengning rubs his temples, growing a little annoyed. Canzhi finally caught on, and quickly cleared his throat and walked faster.
"Nevermind, let's just be on our way."
"Alright..." Canzhi says in disappointment.
As they made their way through the streets, Hengning remarks in his mind on the scenery unfolding before him,
So the streets truly are not covered in gold... nor are there many structures that are painted in such colors...
His disappointment was light though compared to his mental exhaustion of having to guard a young master who was like a butterfly.
Canzhi was carried away by all the precious jewelry, fans, artwork, and carvings laid out on the street, everything sold within this city was of top quality and they were not cheap either.
Any stand that caught his eye, he would spend at least 20mins scanning through all of the items.
Hengning was taken for rounds and rounds at the same circle of stands to the point where he began to prefer the most rigorous training his father had to offer him over this.
"Brother Canzhi, I thought you said you hated the Capital. But instead, you are throwing away all your gold at these...embellishments." He looked rather perplexed at the mountains of things Canzhi had already bought.
Canzhi waved him off. "Keep your voice down. Yes, it is true I hate the Capital, I only really resent the Emperor and his noble goonies. Right now, where we are, is the human realm's richest and grandest market! How could I not buy wares from any of these hard-working merchants? Of course, I want to support their businesses inside such a busy city."
Hengning still doesn't quite understand, but Canzhi had already moved on to another store. He grabs Hengning by the sleeve and takes him on a small journey of learning about precious gems.
Canzhi locks onto a jade vendor and decides to take it upon himself to teach the merchant how to advertise his products. "You see, this gem here, you call it jade, but truly ask yourself, aren't you simply following trends? Look here, this iridescence, this glowing shine, this glitter, if you had given it a-"
"THIEF! THIS MAN STOLE FROM THE GOLDEN PALACE! CATCH HIM!"
The crowd around them all turned to the commotion. Canzhi and Hengning immediately turned their attention toward the dark cloaked figure running toward the central park's crowd.
"Shall I go?"
"It's none of our business..."
His voice trails off as he looks around, none in the crowd had made any moves to help out, nor did the imperial guards. The imperial guards not doing their job... He was curious as well.
"Go, I'll be right behind you."
