Julia
Julia sat on the riverbank and played with several drops of water, which she let float around. At the same time, she tried to grow the grass around her. The water did what it should, but the grass did not move. Sighing, she gave up and only played with the drops of water.
She desperately needed a teacher.
A centaur approached her. It was the oldest of the Pale Redbacks. He smiled and watched the drops of water floating around.
"That's impressive!", he finally said.
"I lack practice", Julia admitted, letting the drops tumble back into the river. "But thank you very much for the compliment."
"To me, it doesn't look like you need practice!" The centaur winked at her and sat down next to Julia. "We have agreed with this tribe. My tribe will not attack refugees. But soldiers. Others weren't as accommodating as we were."
"Oh... Thank you?"
He nodded. "I very much hope to win you over as an ally one day. Until then, goodbye, little witch. I hope you remain friendly towards us." He got up again and left her. Julia looked after him confused.
Ally?
She wasn't sure what he meant. But his words worried her.
Julia sat by the river and enjoyed the peace and quiet until suddenly a few pictures found their way to her:
The castle. The Queen. Agathe smiles. A box full of poison. The king dies. A wedding. The people mourn. A wedding. The queen laughs. A wedding. Agathe and Prince Marlon dance together. The people celebrate. The queen kisses the vampire. Poison. Torsten, Annemarie, and their children. Poison. Weapons that pierce the scales of a dragon. A rope. A wedding. The queen laughs. The king holds a book in his hands and talks to the queen. A cup of tea. A castle full of blood. Centaurs roar with rage. An army of the races. Julia is in front of it. On her head rests a crown of light and soft fire. The Queen. Drops of blood run down her forehead and cheeks. Poison. Mermaids playing in the water. Fire. The queen searches for Julia with visions. She wants Julia by her side when she rules the world. Julia as the Queen's weapon. Julia stands in her mother's way. An army of the races. The fairy forest in flames. Screaming harpies. Angry dragons. Grieving vampires. The queen laughs. An uprising. Rebels who join Julia. Fritz. Elves and werewolves. Blood. Poison. The queen dances.
Startled, she blinked. What had she just seen?
What were those pictures? What kind of vision was that? It seemed to her as if she had seen the past and the future mixed together...
The king was dead? Your father was dead? Her mother had killed him? And she wanted to marry the Vampire Prince? This could not be allowed to happen. She jumped up and ran to her tent, past Elodie, who was talking to Sofia. The two looked at her in surprise. Julia stormed into the tent and the room that Fiete and Peter shared. Peter was asleep and Fiete was reading a book Liam had lent him. Startled, he looked up from it.
"Juli, dear. What's wrong?", he asked surprised.
"I have to stop my mother! It's time!", she blurted out. Peter hummed in his sleep and turned to the other side.
"Sit down first!" Fiete knocked on the ground next to him. Sighing, Julia sat down. "So? What happened?"
"I had a vision. My mother killed my father and she plans to marry Prince Marlon, a vampire, and... I have to stop them. The two want war! And mom wants to use me for her purposes. I need a teacher... And!"
"Slowly!" Fiete put her arm around her and kissed her hair. "Everything is good. Nothing will happen to you."
"She makes weapons that can kill dragons."
"Oh... How unpleasant."
She rested her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around him. "My time in the steppe is over. Right? I saw an army again. I have to put one together. But I'm just a girl! How am I supposed to do that?"
"Well, who would be affected? Of your mother's greed?"
"Everyone she can reach. Centaurs, fairies, dragons... All. She's insane!" Julia closed her eyes and listened to her brother's gentle breath. His long hair lay around his head like a crown. A midnight blue dress lay spread out behind his bed, which Finn had finished a few hours ago. "I have to stop them."
"Good. In that case, we should leave soon. Maybe to the harpies? They are warlike people. You can also find allies in the fairy forest. Mermaids, sylphs, nymphs, sirens... Maybe the fairies too? And let's not forget the centaurs."
"Werewolves, elves, and the rebels. Do you think I can reach them all?"
Fiete grinned. "You can bring them all together!"

"I don't know..."
Sometime later she was sitting with Leopold behind her tent. It had gotten cold and they warmed themselves around a small campfire. And with each other. Julia sat on her boyfriend's lap, her legs wrapped around his hips, her hands buried in his hair, and the two kissed. Leopold's hands found their way under her jacket to the thin fabric of her summer dress.
"You're wearing too much", he murmured.
"I'm cold! And we're outside!" She giggled until their lips met again.
"Yes, exactly!" He whispered against her lips. "This stupid rule only applies to the tent!" Julia giggled. They kissed until they were tired of it and snuggled up around the campfire.
Julia closed her eyes with a sigh. Why couldn't life remain so peaceful and carefree? She wished she could stop time. To sit around this campfire forever.
"I want to go to the harpies", she finally said. "And back to the fairy forest."
"Soon?"
"Yes." The flames of the fire flickered as if they wanted to ask Julia to play with them. "I had a vision again. I have to stop my mother, or she will threaten everything here. Everything and everyone."
"So you want to leave?" Leopold kissed her hand. "You want to face the queen?"
"I don't want to, I have to. And for that I need allies. Anyone who listens to me."
"When do we leave? I follow you wherever you go. And I don't do that because the binding spell forces me to." He looked at his wrist, where fine lines identified him as a slave of the princess. "Here, I often forget that I am bound to you. Here, it is meaningless."
"One day I will free you and Finn from this spell. I want to free all slaves!"
Yes, she wanted to. And she would.
And if she had to stand in her mother's way, she would.
No matter how much she loved her mother.
Fiete
He was ready to go to war. But this time he couldn't try to keep his niece out of the fight.
Meanwhile, Fiete regretted not staying in the village to help Julia and the elves. He had wanted to protect Josefine, but his plan failed.
And then?
Then his magic told him something was wrong. That Julia was desperate and needed him by her side. Just when he had Josefine under control, the magic bond made itself felt. Even Josefine, confused and unresponsive as she was, noticed it.
And shortly after this, he saw Peter and he knew what he had to do.
He saved his life by sharing his life with Peter. Since Peter was not a dragon, he could not tie his life to Peter’s. He could only tie Peter's life to his. But that was exactly what saved Peter's life. He couldn't drag Fiete to his death and Fiete's magic healed him.
His magic demanded that he stay with Julia. Flying away with Josefine had hurt. Mentally. He hated every second and promised to go to her again as soon as she was safe. And then he suggested to Peter to keep his distance with Josefine for him...
Fiete didn't know how he could have done it. It was the stupidest suggestion he had ever made to anyone.
