Worldborne

A world made up of a single continent, big enough that you could sail around the world from the west shore to the east shore within days. Humans once had free reign over the lands, going where they pleased and learning as much as they could about magic. That is until the continent gave birth to its own creations. Creatures strong enough to rival even the best mages at the time started to envelope the land in ridiculous numbers, killing any human in sight. some believed it random chance, others believed the world no longer wanted them there. Countless were slaughtered. Humans, once the most powerful thing on the continent, were pushed back by the worlds creatures into barely a sliver of what was once their home. Once the humans were pushed back to roughly 5% of the entire land, the creatures stopped. No one could understand why it happened, or why they stopped. Among the injured, the heartbroken, and even the dead. There was only one thing everyone knew, they wanted it back.
