*I apologise for this chapter, it's not the best one. I was struggling to write for the past few days. But I knew you all wanted an update.*
Vanessa
"We are gonna have a nice lunch," I sing to Amelia as I push her buggy into the lift. I was impressed when I saw Xavier had a buggy in the apartment, he was prepared. He had everything I could think of, I noticed some of them were for newborns as well. Which made me feel guilty that he missed that part.
It was mostly clothes and certain furniture, there was a bassinet in the corner of the living room. There were tons of diapers for smaller babies, I wondered why he kept them.
It was almost noon and since Xavier wasn't home when we woke up, I figured he was at the office. I decided to dress Amelia in her warmest outfit so we could have lunch out and explore a little bit. Since we'll be leaving tomorrow, I didn't want us been stuck in the house all day.
"Good afternoon," I greeted the doorman happily as the lift opens. The lobby was pretty, filled with a huge Christmas tree and fairy light. Remembering me Christmas was just around the corner.
"Afternoon Ma," he nods looking back at his screen.
We made our way towards the double doors that lead outside, only to be stopped by a man in all black. He stood in front of the buggy, his dark glasses covering his eyes. All I could was a neutral face. He had on a black leather jacket and black boots look like he was ready for a fight. I recognise him from the airport.
"Erm excuse me?" I say wondering if he could see us.
"I can't let you leave the building?" He says like a robot
"What?" I don't think I heard him right
"Mr Knight had instructed me to not let you leave the building,"
I stare at him flabbergasted, did Xavier put a man out here to stop me from leaving? Was he that paranoid? Not that I blame him.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Fox, Mr Knight hired me." What an unusual name, but I could see why Xavier hired him. He was a big scary dude.
"We are just going for a quick lunch," I let Fox know,
"We won't be long," it was too cold out anyway.
"I'm sorry Ma, I need to escort you back up." I laugh nervously because he looks serious.
I looked down at Amelia and she was staring up at the man with a confused face as well, I wanted to take her out on a walk. The park was right there, what did he think I'm gonna run away with her?
"This is ridiculous," I huff, searching through my bag so I could call Xavier to tell this man to move.
"Your daddy is crazy," I tell Amelia as the phone ring. I can't believe I have to call for permission before I go out with my daughter.
"Hello?" I froze when I heard a female voice instead of Xavier's.
"Who is this?" I asked alarmed
"This is June," I immediately recognised the voice. But why was she picking up Xavier's phone?
"Can I speak to Xavier,"
"He's in a meeting Ma,"
"How long would he be," I asked frustrated
"He just went in, it might take an hour. Is there a problem?"
"Erm, no thank you," I hang up.
"Would you like me to help you up Ma?" Fox asks sounding smug.
"No." I wasn't going let Xavier ruin our day, and I didn't spend 30 minutes getting dressed for no reason.
"Take me to him," I demanded
"Ma?"
"Take me to his office," I am going to give him a piece of his mind.
"I'm not gonna ask again," I cut him off before he could talk
"Let's me bring the car around," Fox nods
Looks like a change of plans, I didn't exactly know what my plan was. But I was going to try to talk to him into letting us out. After the kissed we shared last night, I think we are in a good place. We haven't had the change to talk about it yet.
After I finished nursing Amelia, we fell asleep. I didn't realise until I woke up her cries at 5 in the morning. I expected Xavier to come to check on her, but he didn't leave his room. I could tell he was awake, the lights in his room were turned on. I took it as he trusted me enough to take care of her myself which was a big step forward.
I walked out with the buggy when the Rang Rover pulled up, I managed to get Amelia in her car seat. I got in beside her and nodded at him to drive. His office wasn't far from the apartment, we should get there in time.
~~~~~~~~
I was struggling to set up the buggy after I folded into the truck. Thankfully Fox was there to help me. I asked him to wait by the car, as I stroll in with Amelia. The first person I saw was the receptionist, the same one as last time. I headed straight for the lift since I knew what floor his office was on.
We got out of the lift, I recognised the lounge area. Should I wait for him to come out? Or should have headed right in. Going with the second option, I walked straight to the conference room. He was probably still in his meeting.
"Ms Morales, they told me you were here." June came out of nowhere surprising me.
"I need to speak with Xavier," I tell her
"I'm sorry but he is in a meeting, it can wait." She stood in front of me.
"Excuse me," I was shocked by her rudeness
"You need to wait out here,"
"Oh yeah," I raised my brow
"Move out of my way or I will trample over you with my buggy," I warn her.
"And while you are at it remember I can easily get you fired. So watch how to talk to me and don't ever pick up his phone," Bitch. I whispered the last part not waiting for Amelia to hear me.
"Get out of my way," I didn't wait for her to move before I pushed the buggy not caring if I caught her feet.
I pushed the door opened, the first thing I heard was his voice. He was standing in front of a couple of men in suits, pointing to what looks like a graph. I don't think they heard us come in till Amelia made a gurgling sound. They all turn there heads to the sound.
"Vanessa?" Xavier sounded very confused
"What are you doing here?" he dropped the papers he was holding.
"You told Fox not to let me out," I cross my arms, some of the men chuckle hearing what I said.
"Vanessa is it?" One of the guys sitting asked me raising a brow.
"He failed, excuse me boys and shut the fuck up Jack." He says walking towards us.
"Why did you tell Fox to watch me," he closed the door behind him.
"Because it's not safe out," he grumbles
"Couldn't you stay indoors,"
"No, we wanted to have lunch out,"
"We?" He stares at me confused
"Me and Amelia,"
"Amelia doesn't care as long as you have her food," he glanced down at my breast
"I know but I wanted to take her for a walk, this might be our only chance to see New York."
"I don't trust you to walk around New York with our child, you can get hurt."
"I am very capable of taking care of myself," what could go wrong.
"Is that why you interrupted my meeting," I didn't know if he was angry or not
"Yes, I am a grown woman Xavier. I want to be asking for your permission every time I want to take my baby out."
"Fuck, fine," he mumbles checking his watch.
"You really wanna go have lunch," Xavier asks me
"Yes," I pout.
"If you want to have lunch, I will take you."
"June!" He yells
"Yes Sir," she came out of nowhere as if she was waiting for him to call her.
"Cancel the rest of my day, have Jack deal with all the meetings. If anyone asks for me tell them I'm unavailable" I opened my mouth in shock, not believe what came out of his mouth.
"Sir,?" June says shocked as well
"Something just came up," he smiled looking at me. My mouth was still opened—waiting for a fly.
"Sir?" June says
"Are you deaf"? he looks at her annoyed
"No sir," she clears her throat.
"Where would you like to have lunch, let's call to book a reservation." He takes hold of the buggy.
"Have my bag and stuff brought down to the car June!," he calls after her.
