Chapter 3: Chapter 3- Need for the job!

It's been an ordinance for almost a century that if anyone has debt exceeding a certain limit and suddenly they die or disappear from the eyes of the law, then their child would be responsible to pay their parent's debt.

And that responsibility starts as soon as the child reaches the age of sixteen.

My father who was previously a rising star in the business field suddenly collapsed due to the downfall of the exchange rate and some other reasons, and fell into huge debt which he took for his last biggest leap.

Well, I can't even imagine what was the actual sum but after seizing all his property and after selling all his remaining legal assets, the remaining total he owes is around 20 million Yen (approx. $150k) which now… I have to pay.

And since I got eligible to pay last year, my load has been increasing quite figuratively.

Due to the laws, I would be monitored regularly through visits and my counseling would be done if I did not get employed until the age of adulthood. And also, to ensure I don't end up like my parents, my allowance to leave the country has been suspended for the time being until I don't pay 70% of the total sum.

If I don't get a job until the age of eighteen, I would be pushed into a government office as a minor clerk to do a job for them and pay them half of my monthly salary.

But I have no desire to spend my life, pressed beneath piles of papers inside a dirty old room.

And I also want to at least erase some shame my parents have made in the name of Fumiya.

That's why I accepted the job as the butler of the person who maybe hates me most in this world.

I signed the contract of my life which would change my condition for good or erase what I have left inside.

Now everything depends on Akira. My mistress.

After signing the contract, I took my Minami-san to the ground floor before she guided me to the back side of the mansion.

My mind was in such a mess after seeing Akira, that I didn't even bother where I was taken or who was looking at me while they passed by.

For some reason, after Minami-san asked me to not raise my head in front of Akira, I still couldn't muster the courage to lift my chin.

I followed Minami-san inside the room which was rather smaller if compared to this whole place. White walls, a single bed, a cupboard, a study table, and a bookshelf.

The room was simple and cozy. Well, if compared to where I have been living then this is probably a first-star hotel room for me.

I steadily walked in while inspecting the room, when the older one continued with her words.

"Your luggage will be delivered by the night along with your uniforms. Any request would be entertained once a month. Any questions?"

Turning toward her, I was again met with her stern gaze which now seemed to be more cold than before.

**GULP**

"When should I start working, Minami-san?"

Hearing my words, strangely she didn't reply with her usual demeanor, rather a dangerous smirk spread across her lips as she crossed her arms under her bosom.

For some reason, I didn't have a good premonition about the first smile I saw on her.

"You can only start working as the Young Lady's butler once you get trained enough to be worthy of introducing yourself as her attendant. In general cases, we give a month's training to a maid or servant but since your service is required sooner rather than later, I am going to instill all the things within a week. So be prepared and try not to die."
