Yang was never one to fall asleep during class. She'd often have hot tea in her thermos to get through the morning lecture. Today, however, her tea maker decided to die. Which meant, Jaune was poking her cheek to make sure she wasn't actually dead.

"Pst." He whispered, "Yang. Wake up before Professor Oobleck sees you." Yang shoved her hand against his face in irritated defiance.

"Leave me alone," Yang muttered. Unfortunately, Jaune was on her right side. Meaning she pushed him with her right hand. The prosthetic hand. Which meant said fingers were now stuck in Jaune's hair.

"Ow! Let Go! Ow! Ow!"

Yang's response to this justified panic was a loud, "Zzzzzzz."

-A Few Minutes Later-

Pyrrha usually took the two hours she had between health class and trigonometry to relax and collect her thoughts. A break from the grind. Today, she was giving her boyfriend a quick haircut. Her goal was to shave off the part with lost hair and create a new style out of what remained. Yang's goal was to pluck the 'lost' hairs out of her prosthetic fingers.

"I just want you to know, it pains me to cut such lovely locks," Pyrrha said.

"Pain huh?" Jaune scoffed. Yang could sense the side eye he was giving her. She lifted her arm in defense and sheepishly chuckled.

"I hear punk rock is making a comeback."

Jaune just grumbled letting Pyrrha get back to giving him a one-sided buzz cut.

"Don't you have a class right now?" Pyrrha asked.

Yang understood the point of her ask. However, she couldn't take the bailout. The maintenance on her arm took priority. Such a simple thing like hair could do some long-term damage to an expensive piece of machinery. Then again, Jaune's death glares were pretty poignant.

"Yeah. I think I'll head out." Yang said. She grabbed her prosthetic, placed it under her armpit, and headed out the door. "Sorry again Jaune."

"I'll get over it." He replied. The thumbs-up was a little reassuring to Yang. Pyrrha's gentle smile gave her a more solid piece of mind. Hair grows back after all. She'd just owe the now 'punk rock Arc' a few beers until it did.

-Later-

There was no one to bother Yang while she did her cleaning. Mainly because Weiss was in class. It was odd, Yang thought. Odd how she had gotten used to having one organic arm. Everything had become second nature. Whipping the metal down. Cleaning the casing. Being forced, more or less, to sit by the power outlet while charging in public. She couldn't even remember how hard it was to start doing tasks that were now mundane.

Some things she liked. Kids loved interacting with her yellow and black 'warrior gauntlet'. She only needed one towel for hot pans and pots. It matched her bike. Other days, she hated the attention nosey adults gave her. She hated when people tried taking pictures while failing to be sneaky. She hated having to stop her day to pluck hairs out of the knuckle. She hated how she lost her right arm to begin with.

That night was imprinted in her mind. The snow around her soaking up the blood. A pain so intense that it hindered her movements. This fear of any motion causing even more distress. The snowflakes coming down on her unopened skin wasn't even a relief due to the cold stings on her lacerations.

She could barely make out the approaching siren and flashing lights as her eyesight dimmed. Next thing Yang knew, she was in the hospital with a broken left arm. When she looked to the right, she burst into tears. All the agony she felt the previous night was nothing in comparison.

For six months she needed someone to feed her. For two years, she wasn't allowed to even have a driving learner's permit. For three years Ruby accompanied her sister to every event. For four years, Yang had to remind Blake that she didn't blame her for the incident. For five years, Yang has never once regretted supporting her friends.

She snapped back into reality hearing the universities' clock tower chime. Yang secured her arm back into place and was about to head out the door. However, a box was on the counter. An unopened box advertising an electric kettle with a sticky note on the side. Yang could tell from the perfect penmanship who it was from before even actually reading it.

It read,

"I'm sorry for breaking your tea machine. I thought you could use it to make both tea and coffee. With this one, you can. Enjoy your disgusting leaf juice.

-Weiss"

The little signature got an 'aw' out of Yang. It didn't take much convincing for her to leave a reply. She flipped the note over to leave her own before rushing out the door for her next class.

"Thank you, sweetie. Just remember to clean it out after you're done making your gross bean water.

-Yang"

Hopefully, Weiss would appreciate the little red kiss mark Yang left above her own name.

-That Evening-

Having a dorm with two beds had become pointless. Ruby & Blake had stopped using the second bed that used to belong to Weiss. There wasn't anything wrong with the bed or Weiss. It was a nice bed. But Blake found herself on the other side more often than not.

Her back would be against the wall as she read her book and Ruby's head would rest on her lap. Ruby and Blake would lay against one another when watching a movie. There wasn't really a way to have sex in different beds. So, as far as they were convinced, the dorm had one bed.

Ruby's bed was big enough for them to sleep in together. Some nights Blake would spoon Ruby. Other nights, Ruby found herself using Blake's back as a pillow. They never planned out how it happened. They would just go to bed next to each other and wake up in whatever position. Like tonight, how Blake's head was pressed against Ruby's stomach.

She didn't really feel any discomfort despite a human head being on her abdomen. The six-pack Ruby possessed was helping with that. However, the thing that woke her up was a noise. It sounded like a fearful whimper.

Ruby's eyes fluttered open, feeling Blake suddenly and firmly grasp her sides. The woman's fingers were digging into Ruby's lower back. Her biceps squeezing the young woman. Rose had to intervene.

"Blake?" she asked.

Belladonna didn't answer her. Ruby couldn't get a good look at her expression. Ruby had to go off of the sound of her voice. The sharpened inhales and long dry quivers woke her girlfriend right up.

"Hey, hey, hey." Ruby slid down to meet Blake. Both of their bodies were under the cover with their foreheads touching. Ruby cupped Blake's shaking head and began to whisper to her love.

"You're okay. You're okay. It's just a nightmare." She said this to Blake again and again. Sweetly and sincerely, Ruby tried to null the woman's pain. "You're okay. You're okay."

Blake's nightmare was strong. The visions tormenting her from years ago. Something she thought she'd never have to live with again. She hadn't seen his face since she was first practicing driving. He'd given her so many things. Her first kiss. Her first time. Her first black eye. Her first car accident.

As powerful as the dark thoughts were, Ruby's voice was the sunlight piercing through the storm clouds.

"You're okay. You're okay." Ruby said, stroking her hair.

Blake made the choice to open her eyes. When she did, Ruby was right there waiting for her.

"Blake, are you okay?"

"I hate my pills," Blake replied.

Ruby brought her into a hug, "You gotta keep taking them."

Blake kissed her forehead, "I am." Ruby returned the favor with a kiss on the cheek. The two then did what the other was waiting for.

No more words were said that night. No more bad dreams either. While Ruby couldn't get rid of her lover's nightmares, she was always going to be there if they came back. Kisses weren't a cure, but they sure did help. After all Ruby Rose was quite good at giving them.
