Towards the end of my trip through memory lane, I grew dissatisfied with what I saw in my memories. 'Fuck! My life was pretty sad wasn't it? Was I always just another burden for Aniki to carry on his shoulders? Would he be happier without me in the future?' I hoped so.

Suddenly, I saw another bright flash and then a whole new series of images started flashing into my mind. 'These are…new memories?' I wondered in shock as I closely observed these new pictures.

I saw, what I at first assumed, was someone else's life. Or at least, his memories. It was the life of an American otaku living in the early 2020's.

He was obsessed with fiction. He loved all sorts of stories. Romances, dramas, adventures, thrillers, tragedies, comedies etcetera etcetera. He loved them all. They kept him company when he was alone. And he was alone quite often.

He was a delivery man. Always on the road, never around long enough to make any decent long lasting friendships.

He liked reading the next big thing on his smartphone in his free time, or listening to an audiobook on the road. In his head a perfect map of the states he worked in.

'Jeez his memories are also sad, just not in the same way mine were.' I concluded.

‘Wait, an american? I've never even left my city. How am I so familiar with another country? hmm…manga? Anime? Memes? Computers? Smartphones? hentai? Manga? Gal games? Jojo's bizarre adventure? What… is all this? These aren't MY memories…Are they? Who's life is this?’ I shouted in my heart.

The more I saw, the more complicated my feelings about these memories got. They were so alien and yet they seemed so familiar.

I felt a deep sense of nostalgia come over me, as I experienced them all playing out before me, like a film.

The memories showed me so many new things. Things I'd never seen before, yet somehow they felt so familiar. They were so all-encompassing, that I was quickly overwhelmed.

These emotions, these moments, weighed so heavily upon my psyche. I wasn't even sure who I was anymore. Was I 'Okuyasu' or him?

Suddenly a voice called out to me, interrupting my messy thoughts. "h-HEY! Don't go to sleep yet. I'll heal you, just tell me your brother's ability!" he yelled at me.

It was a different voice from Keicho's. It was a much more frantic, more agitated voice.

I instantly recognized it. It was the voice of my enemy. Josuke Higashikata.

*gasp*cough* "my…bro's…ability?" I whispered in between shallow, gurgly breaths.

I should have been amazed by the fact I could breathe at all at this point, but something else caught my attention. ‘What brother? I had no siblings. No wait. I…I DO!? Fuck! My head hurts so much! These new memories are muddling everything up! Augh… I can't fucking think straight.’ I complained in my head.

But, that boy wasn't giving up, he didn't seem to notice or care about my fractured state of mind.

He needed answers and he needed them now.

"Yes! Your brother, Keicho? was it? What's his ability!? Hurry up, tell me quickly! I need to get back there. I have to save my friend!" he demanded.

*gasp*"n-"*cough*more blood flew out of my lips. I couldn't even breathe properly. How could I answer him?

Wait. Why should I answer him? I was already on death's door, what did it matter?

Hell, Even if my body was in top condition, I would never sell out my brother. He was all I ever had in this life.

"No…I..won't…tal-"*Wheese*

I finally managed to squeeze out my refusal, as I felt myself completely run out of air.

As I did, I felt my heartbeat slow. I was really going to die this time.

‘I guess this is the end. Might as well sit back and enjoy the show that these new memories are providing for me. I watched way too much porn didn't I? Eell can't blame me, I was a loner after all.’ I thought as I fell deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Suddenly something caught my attention. Preventing from calmly falling into my final slumber. 'Wait, how did I even die in that other life? Was it truck-kun? It was probably truck-kun wasn't it?' there was a final doubt about the other me.

'No wait…Fuck! I remember now, it was actually Truck-chan. Some drunk teenage bitch was driving on the wrong side of the road, in her mama's SUV.'  I recalled.

'I'm pretty sure she survived the crash too. I remember her running up to my window and grimacing at the sight of my blood. The lucky cunt!' I cussed as I remembered the cause of my last death.

On the other hand, I was not so lucky. My amazon delivery van ended up crushing my lower body into a red paste from the waist downwards.

'Jesus, The paramedics took their sweet ass time getting there too!' the more I thought about it the angrier I got.

'Man! That ending sucked! Now I'm pissed!' I thought as I finished rewatching my final memory.

Suddenly I felt a pair of ethereal hands grab my skull. Interrupting my flashback. 'Huh? Is this the real Shinigami this time?' I wondered.

But to my surprise, the sleepy feeling gone, and I no longer feel anymore pain. I didn't even taste any blood in my mouth.

Which I guess I would have expected if I were now a disembodied soul, however, my heart was still beating! And it was picking up the pace too! I was alive!

I was healed!?

I opened my eyes and looked up at my savior's face. He was a handsome boy wearing a dark purple Japanese high-school uniform. His long dark Purple hair was styled in a glorious pompadour, though now it was a little bit messy.

He looked like he'd taken a real beating. His lips were bleeding and he had a few bumps and cuts on his forehead. On his right hand, he had an open bleeding wound. There were a few dozen tiny needle sized holes, all across his hand. All quickly pooling up with blood.

His expression was resigned and desperate, but I could see the gears turning in his head. He wasn't really even looking at me anymore.

Logically, I knew he was the only one who could have helped me. But I couldn't understand how or why he would do it.

'Why would he save a dying enemy? Especially one who already refused him?' I raised an eyebrow and squinted at the boy. "I said I wasn't gonna tell you, Josuke. "

The boy gave me an exasperated look, He looked  like he wanted to tell me something, but in the end he just shook his head. "I don't have time for this! he's gonna suffocate!" he yelled as he turned around and dashed in the opposite direction.

He ran straight towards a dark creepy looking mansion, without even looking back at me.

After waking up from a near death experience, my mind was a little muddled. I wasn't sure were or when I was. So I took a look around and inspected my surroundings.

It was nearing sunset, and I was out in the suburbs.

I noticed, All the other houses in the neighborhood looked clean and in good condition. They looked Like they were actually lived in.Only mine was disfigured, tattered and ugly.

The atmosphere it gave off was both dark and dreary. Like a haunted house.

Suddenly, Something clicked inside my head. ‘Wait, I remember this. This is almost exactly like what happened in that manga I read in those 'other' memories. It was a shounen battle manga where characters regularly fought using Bizarre supernatural powers called Stands. During this part, in the original story, after getting healed, the delinquent followed the protagonist inside and asked him something. what was is again?'

I followed the boy back inside the dark mansion. He knew I was behind him, but he didn't even look at me as he ran for the stairs. "Hey!  Why did you save me!?" I yelled at the boy. "We're enemies, I could still attack you even now. Why would you do something so foolish?"

He paused for a second, turned around and stared at me with a somber expression.

'In the manga, the Protagonist said something like-'

"I just don't want to see anyone die in front of me. Not when I can still do something about it."

For a moment I froze. 'That was the line. It was almost word for word.'

My mind was now filled with questions. 'Does this mean I'm a paper person in a paper world? Since he is the protagonist. I guess that makes me a supporting character? What about the plot? What should I do now?' I wondered.

After a moment of hesitation, I forced myself to stop thinking about it and focused on the present. 'Ok. Let's think back to what happened in the story. During this part specifically, the delinquent helped the boy save his friend, then he left them alone.' I thought back to the plot. 'For now, I should stay in line with the original story.' I concluded as I followed the protagonist upstairs and into a dark room.

I stood beside him, and peered into a dark room.

In the room, there was a short white haired boy laying on the floor. He was unconscious.

He had an arrow pierced right through his chest and the wound was bleeding heavily. His breaths were shallow and infrequent. I knew that without treatment, he would die soon.

My brother was standing over him with his back facing a wall. I saw him bend over and pull the arrow out of the boy, causing more blood to spill out of the wound.

Then, he stood back up and glared at Josuke. For a moment he made eye contact with me. I saw a flash of relief in his eyes before he turned his angry gaze back on Josuke, with clear disdain written all over his face. A fight would break out any second now.

But, before anyone made a move, I used my Stand, The Hand and pulled the unconscious boy closer to us, using my so called 'teleporting' ability.

Josuke tilted his head at me. Almost as if to say 'what'd you do that for?.'

In response, I told him the same thing, Okuyasu, the character, did in the manga.

"I won't interfere in your fight with my brother, this is only out of gratitude for saving my life." In response, the boy quickly nodded at me, bent over and healed the boy with his Stand, Crazy Diamond. This was probably the same thing he did to me earlier.

After confirming that both were still alive, I turned around and left them there. I needed a moment to think things through, and I knew that at least for the moment, no one would die

I went back downstairs and sat on the floor.

Soon enough, I was once again swallowed up by my thoughts and memories.
